THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
- So Kyokotsu... why so evil and cute? ^_^
- and finally SHE appears :D (tough still not completely :( )
- and we are reminded of the Kerria Garden Murder Incident
- Grampa remembering of his old says sure made him wish to fight again... so what do you do? Well, attack your grandson of course :D
- Rikuo gets pwned!!1! also, I liked the color palette and the general atmosphere of the scene :D
- Kiyo Cross Squad goes to Kyoto, where they will... do nothing
- Kyoto is for sisies so Rikuo goes to Toono instead (ok, he goes there to train so he could increase his chances of survival in Kyoto)
- this episode has a lot of Tsurara: that pleases me

- Rikuo wakes up and finds out his loving Tsurara was replaced by a monkey and a bunch of other rude Yokai who don't know their place... while he himself is in a bowl to be eaten
- poor Rikuo... doesn't even realize that Kyoto is a dangerous place, filled both with Exorcists and Yokai of the Kyoto Clan... who are probably the strongest Ayakashi you can find on the market... and who do not exactly love Nura Clan and Nurarihyon's
- Toono Fodder pwns!!1! Rikuo... pwned twice in one ep... oh dear Rikuo, how low have you fallen :D
- well, at least in Toono Rikuo doesn't change into his Day Form, no matter the time
- how cute: Rikuo daydreams about Tsurara... which makes the idea of running away even more likable

- first Grampa, than Toono Fodder and now... a simple bridge pwns!!1! Rikuo
- and we are introduced to Itaku, a Kamaitachi... it is surprising how the same type of Yokai can have so many variations: the Shikoku Yokai that attacked Nurarihyon in S1 was also a Kamaitachi
- and Rikuo meets Yokai of his generation in Toono (one of them who is probably Tsurara's cousin)... and none of them calls him Rikuo-sama... Rikuo is not pleased but will swallow such rudeness -_-
- Yura is such a naive little girl... only she still trusts Ryuuji XD

Itaku and Awashima! I'm so glad to see them ^^
I wonder if in next episode he'll go to Kyoto? Or maybe not yet?

Nuararihyon-sama is still so cool ;)

Nonsense detected

- Nurarihyon took the best Yokai's of Tohoku for his parade.
- They fight against Gyuki and it turns out it took Nurarihyon to defeat him.
- Gyuki challenges Nura and is defeated (and don't tell me he went easy on him, the whole point was to test if he was a suitable leader for the clan.)
- Nura is taken to Tohoku, where he's overwhelmed by a low Yokai... WTH?

... he also looked quite clumsy this episode...

*Sigh*... I know this "Opponent appears and humbles the hero"/"hero trains"/"hero defeats opponent" cycle it's a Shounen thing, but I find the implications hard to swallow sometimes.

You are overestimating Gyuuki and the Nura Clan and underestimating Toono.

To begin with, ancient land of Toono is not some pushover (else Nurarihyon would send Rikuo somewhere else) and the ancient knowledge of controlling Fear is above the whole Nura Clan as well as Gyuuki who is a human turned Yokai and thus never was there to train.

Nurarihyon's Parade ain't that awesome either: they are strong, but were still largely below the Kyoto Clan (which would have wiped them out if Nurarihyon hadn't killed Kitsune with Hidemoto's help). They are strongest in Edo which is why they rule it, but quite a few Clans outside Edo are a different story.

As far as Rikuo goes, he fought against Gyuuki in a life-to-death battle so he was more desperate. If he were to seriously fight against any of these Toono Yokai, I doubt he would lose either.

There's also no indication that Nurarihyon took the member from Toono before he recruited Gyuuki nor that it had to take Nurarihyon to beat Gyuuki. In the manga it's never shown that Gyuuki defeated Nurarihyon's group first that Nurarihyon has to fight him. It was just customary for a Hyakki leader to fight another leader when in battle. Of course, the 1st season had to add a lot of unnecessary stuff. Considering how weak they are during the fight with the Kyoto Youkai, Nurarihyon probably took the member of Toono after that fight.

Also, anyone who read the manga knows that it wasn't during Nurarihyon's leadership that the Nura clan was the strongest. I agree with Nayrael that you are underestimating Toono Youkai

I see, I see... Ok, I'll let it rest at that then.

I guess now Rikuo will learn the true meaning of fear so as to overcome it... and hopefully also stop underestimating rocks, they can be very slippery. XD

Damn those rocks! If this was Nura Clan territory, he'd show them: once they see him sitting on his flying snake, they'd lose all hope of defeating him >:(

And than his loyal servant Aotabo would crush them >:(

And than he would give the sand to that Kittie Clan to serve as toilet for cats >:(

But he'll get his revenge, it is just a matter of time... The rocks will pay for their impudence!

LOL, I can actually see this night Rikuo doing that stuff to the offending rocks...

... Tsurara would probably want a chance to include her own punishment too.

I still prefer the day Rikou than the night Rikou but night Rikou doing some laundry is so cute >_< and It would be nice if Tsurara went with him. ^^

You seem to know nothing of yokai battles. Rikuo is indeed powerful but he knows nothing of yokai combat. That's why he lost to a lowly Kappa-Inu. He doesn't know how to cut an enemy's fear. It's been mentioned multiple times in the episode.
Rikuo's been using Meikyou Shisui occasionally but he actually doesn't know what it is. Nor does he know how to counter it, like how he failed to counter Nurarihyon's Shin Meikyou Shisui. Remember how Rikuo defeated Tamazuki? That was a different technique and he just pulled it off out of necessity. He has no idea what it was. Gyuki on the other hand is knowledgeable of yokai combat, he just didn't use his anti-yokai techniques against Rikuo.
Toono is full of high class yokai. It's a village of mercenaries. Even the weakest among them are considered powerful outside the village.
Take note that Shin Meikyou Shisui affects only Nurarihyon's target while Rikuo's Meikyou Shisui affects everyone in Rikuo's vicinity.
Rikuo ay have been able to shock Itaku and his gang momentarily with his sudden use of Meikyou Shisui against them to prove himself but that's only until next episode's first few minutes (or even seconds).

The pacing still seems a bit off to me and the music is kind of unfit in certain scenes but otherwise things are going well.
I think this was the last time that Day Rikuo and Kana appears as things are straightforward from here on out on the plot.
Looking forward to the next episode.

Lol at omake.

Well, you seem to be unable to properly follow a thread. I was already corrected, you're kinda late for this. I'm not going to apologize to every moron that gets offended by the first post I made on the thread.

Should a casual watcher need to be THAT enthusiastic? ^_^;
Also, there is no reason to use such tone before giving an bonus explanation :/

I'm happy that the flashback is over ^^

And it's nice to see that Nura isn't that strong, but it makes his previous opponents even weaker.

Nura is an idiot for thinking that he could take down Mamiko Noto.
Even if he gets a newfound skill, I hope she beats the shit out of him.

Good ep, Haha, making fun of Rikuo and then he show them what fear is.

That "fear" thing somehow reminded me of the "Haki" from One Piece..>.>

Haki in OP, Chakra and Murderous Intent in Naruto, Spiritual Energy in Bleach, Innocence and Dark Matter in DGM, Soul Strength and Madness in Soul Eater... really, it reminds me of many things ^_^;

You are used to seeing Rikuo show off whenever he notices that he is in his Night Form so he often looked more cool and strong than he really was :P

yeah I mean he's THIRTEEN. cant compare to his grand dad who's over 400 years old. even during the kyoto arc he was 100+ for sure. and he IS a spoiled kid. the entire household spoiled him and he's not weak exactly, just that he doesnt know much about the ways of the yokai world and his own potential. aint I right Nayrael?

This ep was lots of fun. I think this is where night Rikuo starts to become a real character, rather than just showing up, doing something cool and disappearing again. Hehe, I love him but he's such a brat, being dumped on his arse a few times can only do him good.

I like the way Hidemoto and Itaku have turned out in the last couple of episodes, they were my favourite characters from this arc in the manga, so I'm glad I can enjoy seeing them here.

I agree with you about the music, even though I liked the way the music was used in the first series. Especially in the previous episode, when Yura was fighting Ryuuji, the music seemed such a mismatch it was quite distracting. Otherwise though, this series is miles better than the first.

Were those namahage? XD They were looking for bad kids... LOL

Another Yuki-Onna, at least she looks different from Setsura and Tsurara. And the young Zashiki-Warashi, Yukari reminded me of the other Zashiki-Warashi in xxxHOLiC.

That episode felt extremely off. This season has been great, but this episode felt like it went in the direction. Riko was a bad ass a couple of episodes ago, and now he's... wtf? lol I understand if grandpa hands it to him but then he gets slapped around by the low leveled demons as well.

since he doesn't know what kind of youkai he is for now,he is weak compared to those that know their fear and power.
also he may be bad ass but he is still a child that is spoiled too much by his gang.the whole point of laundry scene was to show this.

What Hyugo Mono thing?
If you mean Tamazuki from S1, you are terribly overestimating that guy: Tamazuki was a weakling.

This is by far my favorite episode from both seasons! :D
It's really awesome to see another side of Yokai Rikio and I find him really, really adorable! :P Apart from his usual cool personality, now we can see his real(?) personality and it's really awesome. Great laugh at the odd jobs! Haha!

Toona arc is going to be so awesome! Can't wait to see more of Yokai Rikuo :)

Seeing the yokai form of Rikuo during the day!! XD I hope rikuo's training will make him to a stronger, stronger yokai. that scene where he was completely overwhelmed by nurarihyon really shows how nurarihyon is really strong.

Kind of annoying how this Fear thing, despite seemingly being the basis of Youkai combat, was never (or barely) mentioned during the first season, and no one besides Nurarihyon seemed capable of using it. That makes no sense. The fact that even the lowliest of Kyoto demons are apparently capable of taking on Rikuo is just stupid. Seriously, if Kyoto demons are that strong, why have they just stayed where they are? I would've thought, if they were that strong, at least a few would come to Tokyo and start steamrolling the Nura clan.

This new development just rubs me the wrong way. Either introduce something like this early on or have it be a secret technique only a select few know. As it is, this just seems to make the threats of the first season seem inconsequential.
