I see no problem in girls watching shonen and boys watching shoujo at all.

Edit: Ops. Let's just pretend I said "reading" instead of "watching" and move on.

I love shounens! It doesn't mater for me how mainstream it can be :P Naruto, Bleach... Currently I'm watching One Piece anime, but I'll start reading manga soon, ah, can't wait :D

It's what I mainly read. That or seinen, or just neutral stuff. The typical shoujo manga annoys me a lot of the time - it's not like stuff like Naruto doesn't, but IMO there is just a much wider variety in shounen manga.
The only decisively female-oriented manga I regularly read is yaoi.

Yeees!! ♥
It's the type of genre that's waiting for me to read every week. I read shoujo, but sometimes I'm craving for some action and not some typical weak heroine.

A girl and i like harem.
I love reading light novels(I only heard of 2 series that aren't targeted towards guys).
But i do read some shoujo manga.
In fact, my favourite female character comes from harem manga. She's like then cutest thing ever!

I used to love shoujo, and would read any shoujo manga as long as the art is tolerable.
But now all I read is shonen. (expect for a few exceptions)
Because I find it more interesting than shoujo (most of them is all blushyblush n dokidoki)

To be honest, I don't think it really matters whether you're a guy or girl.
My brother played with my barbie dolls more than I did when I was younger.
I personally actually tend to prefer shounen series (although I don't mind shoujo). A lot of shoujo are just regular romances... I prefer a little action or fantasy.

yeah! (what i read isn't limited to shounen so long as i think it's good) BUT!! Shounen rocks! (^o^)\m/ especially when i want to get away from mushy shoujo mangas (really! :( there are so few good shoujo mangas that aren't all that mushy) but anyways.. i think there are a lot of girls that reads shounen manga than boys that reads shoujo manga.. <anyone else thinks so too?>

Of course I read shounen mangas. Well, if it has good art and a good story. And also not irritating characters.

Yes, though it's not my favorite genre... But aren't many of shounen mangas frequendry read by girls? Like Kuroshitsuji, it's officially a shounen manga, isn't it?

I read mostly shoujo or josei, but I sometimes get fed up of romances so I try to read horror or shounen manga. In my case, I read Claymore and Berserk.... :3

I read shounen unintentionally. I read manga, check the genres afterwards, then I'm like, "Oh. Shounen."
But, it's still good.

Please. Shounen is the new shoujo.

Can't there just be one genre that's both for girls and boys? Let's call them shoujen and I declare that all shoujo and shounen are now shoujen. There. Happy?

I personally enjoy certain shounen manga, but it really all depends. Sometimes us girls get sick of seeing the same exact annoying shojo mangas.

I started out with certain shounen titles like Bleach and Naruto which really gave me a sense of adrenaline whenever there were awesome action scenes and such. Currently now I'm reading Eyeshield 21. But I've taken a deeper liking for deeper, impactful seinen now.

I like shoujo but it gets real repetitve and dumb at times when you think about it realistically. The main girl characters are weak, mostly. :/

I read shojo mangas sometimes.

I'll read anything as long as it has an interesting storyline.

I mostly read shounen and seinen.

I've pretty much given up on shoujo.( almost ) but of course, there are some exceptions when it comes to shoujo ( akagami no shirayuki-hime, last game, akatsuki no yona )

If I want a good story with action or nice adventure, I go with shounen with tags of romance.

Seinen/shounen manga I thought were shoujo : orange ( takano ichigo ) , oboreru knife

I think the two are completely different (shoujo and shounen) so its good to read both instead of having to read the same cliches over and over one after another. I also read yaoi, seinen, and josei, so its not like I ever get bored.

Shounen can be very cool.

That's what got me started on manga. I still prefer shonen manga, but thankfully I no longer dislike every other genre.

These days though, I need a little break after a shonen manga before I start another one. A lot of them get repetitive and that pisses me off.
