I read it :)

When it comes right down to it, one reads what one wants to and is interested in, no matter the audience it's aimed at. Who's to say that a girl can't enjoy male interests, and vice versa? Besides, most of the shounen titles have more universal appeal anyways. :D

Having said that, I do prefer seinen, because they just seem more interesting to me. I find the shounen titles I've read are more likely to have fillers...

Of course. Reading a cetrain type of genre has nothing to do with one's gender. while it's true that the term shounen is often used to describe the type of audience the manga/anime is directed too but reading the manga from a male's point of view or a female doesn't make it unrelatable or unenjoyable. I relate to alot of protagonists in shounen mangas and animes.

Yeah I read some shounen. I even have shounen manga as a few of my fav. Chobits, Love Hina (okay, so not exactly shounen, but it has shounen humor i think)
Ranma 1/2 is marked as a shounen and i loved that series.
I also read and love Tsubasa Reservoir chronicle which also is marked shounen for some reason...

Shounen tends to have a higher drop percentage with me. Perhaps I read too many popular series that are designed to drag on, thus I lose interest. I'm less inclined to experiment/pick random titles.

This is one shounen series I'm still sticking with after many volumes. It's marked shounen because that's what it is. CLAMP does many different genres.

If the plot is good and something that I'd personally favour, and the characters are strong, and I'm interested in the artwork, most definitely.

if it counts, all manga in my reading list is shounen and seinen...
and I have no any manga rated more than 5 that's not shounen or seinen. =)
yeah, seinen rocks. sometimes shounen too =)
don't like shoujo. really don't like. managed to read some titles but it wasn't that great.
same goes to yaoi and all variations... (yeah, yaoi fans, you will beat me, but it is ^__^)

Yes, I never limit myself to one genre just because I'm not the target audience.

I'd totally disagree with that but it depends on the series, really. =3= Most shounen is probably way better than Yuu Watase's stuff. lol

"Problems with shoujo"? I'm a guy and have been hooked on shoujo stuff, particularly After School Nightmare. Is this weird?

Personally, I believe any genre has good stuff to offer, so I don't limit myself to shounen series.

I've at least tried everything I could get. Shoujo, seinen, shonen-ai, yaoi, yuri, loli, shota, and even guro.

I don't really care about the genre as long as I like the manga =)
but sometimes I just want to read something love filled and sometimes I need action xD
depends on my mood =)

It's not at all weird. I could go into the analytical, college-inspired essay about why the original quote seems true to me also, but I'll just say it's because guys (in general) are afraid of girly things and guy things aren't nearly as "threatening" to girls.

I love shounen manga. Definitely my favorite genre. >.>...

Sometimes.

But if a shounen only has female characters that are whiny, clingy and generally weak, I always stop reading.

I didn't realize this was still an issue for people. I read what I like, I don't care about the label. Chances are I probably don't even know which categories the manga I read fall into.

And I think labels and purposely made demographics are unnecessary.

I love shounen, but only if the action's actually good. I only read a couple of shojo manga because all the plots are the same. Being a girl shouldn't even be an issue regarding manga.
My brother, on the other hand, reads a lot more shojo than me...

I end up reading more shojo than shounen but what really matters is the levels of obsession in those categories...

yeah, shounen totally beats shojo's butt in the obsessed fangirl category *air gear, code geass, death note, nabari no ou, sayonara zetsubou sensei, ect.*

Yep. I read manga from most demographics. Shoujo can get a little stale after a while so I like to read seinen or shounen manga as well.

Maybe boys do read shoujo manga as much as girls read shounen, but wouldn't most of them be more embarrassed to disclose that info? (Not that I have any problem. I think it's awesome) You know, guys with their egos. lol

Yes, I definately love reading shounen. Lots of action with blood! Plus, the plots are great. I just can't stand shoujo. The originals were great. Just the new ones kinda suck nowadays. I can't seem to find a good shoujo manga with an original storyline.

Yarr, of course.

I like a well balanced diet of shoujo and shounen.

I'm not sure why, but my brother hates it when I read shoujo. Which is weird because he reads Twilight (mega girly >_>)
