Take your finger off the exclamation mark D:

That said, alot of my favorite manga is shounen. I'm a big fan of the Naruto manga which is pretty much shounen overdrive. Although not the best example.

Some girls have ruined shonen. Case in point Naruto. If not for the fangirls we wouldn't have to deal with that bastard Sasuke all the time. >_>

Sure, I have the same criteria for shounen that I do for shoujo, i.e. story and art. In either case, it takes me a while to find a manga that I like.

If it's a good story, I don't care what demographic it's aimed at.

Haha, maybe it's just because I frequent Livejournal, but I usually see girls reading more shounen manga than shoujo. Of course, they also usually like yaoi and have to gay up everything.

I like lots of shounen manga - they're fun. Shoujo is fun too, though.

Yeah, of couse. I've read plenty of shonen mangas. And my first and third favorite manga out there are, Tsubasa Chronicles and Black Cat, and they're shonen (well, atleast the website says).

I read Shounen, I don't really care too much what genre a manga is though, it is all about how good the story and art are. I usually like Shounen art a lot, hahaha. I think it is really cool!

Nope many are like that XD.

Shojo are tend to be short and light hearted so it doesn't make me a fanatic when reading them :P

I don't care about how a manga is labeled, if I like the story I'll read it.

Most shonen these days are aimed at girls as much as guys anyway. Look at Yu Yu Hakusho. Do you really think Kurama was designed to be all the male watchers' favorite badass character? D. Grayman and Hitman Reborn both cater heavily to the fujoshi fanbase with the large cast of male characters. Etc etc, the point being shonen is a target demographic, not an exclusive group.

That said, I love shonen. Not Naruto and Bleach so much, but a lot of my favorite manga are Shonen Jump titles.

Even though I read most shoujo series. Some of my fav. series are shounen. Ex: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Chrno Crusade (ok, it isn't only aimed at shounen, but not typical shoujo either..) and of course Ranma 1/2, Love Hina, Chobits and Inuyasha too. So when I think about it, I actually have many shounen titles as my fav. even though I read much shoujo.

As many have already mentioned, as long as the story is good it doesn't really matter which audience the author is aiming at. ^^''
Oh, and often the art plays a big part as well.

Yes, I do. Most of the time I read shonen manga over shoujo, but don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a shoujo every once in a while. I'm not always in the mood for mushy stuff, so I like to go to shonen series. I feel weird sometime though, because I'm always reading boys manga. My onii-chan tells me that some things are meant for older people, and young eyes shouldn't be seeing them, but I enjoy all different kinds of series.

I just started reading shounen manga. When I began reading manga, I decided to stick to shoujo first but then I realized that most of them are the same, and some are even boring, so I started reading shounen and seinen manga. I really like Reborn now - it's very entertaining (not just because of the bishies XD the story's really funny too).

Do you read Shonen manga even though your a girl? ---> Do I have to assume that only girls are allowed to answer??

If not, here's my answer:

I don't care, shojo or shounen or whatever else. As long as the story, art and characters are good, I'll check it out. Also, there are some shojo that are pure romance (overly romantic), and I tend to stay away from those.

I use to readed shounen manga, but I drop it , and start watch it as in anime.
Plus I use to be a big fan of shoujo manga back then.
I'm not much of manga person, but when it come to manga, I some time read what it got in it.

Of course! No true female manga fan wouldn't. Besides, some ery good manga are shounen, and it's nice to get away from all the lovey-dovey shoujo manga, not that all are.

i read anything that piques my interest....which is basically everything...but not mecha. never mecha. :P

i'm female and i like yaoi, but i'm not mad-crazy-obsessive over it. i can't make a pairing for every single anime, either. Naruto is all too easy to make pairings with- most of the main cast is MALE, with only a small handful of *main*females. Not too crazy about most pairings in THAT series, either. :P I'm pretty neutral i guess.

I'm a guy, but eh, I feel like giving my opinion ...

I'm the same as a few people who've said they don't care what the demographic is or whatever, as long as the story is good.

I'm a girl, but I came to find that every manga I've ever read (besides Fruits Basket) was shounen. I guess I just gravitate to shounen much easier than shoujo.

Lol, you bring a whole new meaning to the word "impatient"! :P

Shoujo are a bit too exaggerated story-wise sometimes, and that's my only critic against the genre. I like the art though.

I read both, duh as long as the story is good it doesn't matter if the manga was drawn for boys or girls from the beginning.

Although I love more of shoujo than shounen, I read shounen manga at times when I feel like it. When I read Rurouni Kenshin about a year ago, I knew that it's going to be my favorite shounen manga. Although I don't like Naruto, Inuyasha and other random shounen manga, I do like other ones. It depends on taste.
