| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Interesting beginning. lol @ "Hyui" thought of Dalian a pet!! A key to open her up and make contract??!! So she's some kind of devil of book so that "Hyui" can read up the book? That creepy ED is the main title to OP/ED single (first song is ED and second song is OP). I was thinking why there's no OnoD's voice in the OP, but his part will be included in this single. |

| Dalian is the tsundere version of Victorique, however that voice is very unfitting and Miyuki would have been better given she gave Dalian her Cordelia voice. Yes, she is a demon who can open and read the book. Pretty good episode, quite bloody and gory and everything has that Gosick feel to it. |

I find that Dalian x Huey is best in the following, you know right before he puts that key in. I find that Huey in the following,  is kick ass with his gun shooting! Now that was amazing! I loved of course all of the Dalian poses in the spoiler mainly due to her facials and expressions. Her transformation beginning is good. The key hole much less so. prismheart said: The whole thing is supposed to be creepy. How you seen the cast of this in the documentary. They were all wearing Gothic accessories. Further more this whole reproduction of a library ain't so fake. I saw the documentary and lots of research like Ikoku Meiro no Croisee went into this totally. Nice episode, but that ED creeped me the fuck out. I am in for the right of shit being creepy and this having a Gosick feel to it is a + IMO. |

| lol people its its victorian'ish era show.. its in the sae genre as gosick... so its not that it "looks like gosick"... looks alright i guess... i heard Dalian looked alot better in the manga but i never read that so meh... the book read ing thing was nice... and the ending was freaky, but something just deosnt sit well with me... \(o.o)/ |

| I really expected better out of this. It's intriguing, and I'll watch it. But I really don't like the voice actor for Dantalion, it just doesn't seem fitting for the role. I liked how there was a sort of creepy vibe to this, though I certainly hope it doesn't turn out like Gosick (which I dropped). |
| This is one of the animes I've been waiting for a long time for and it proves to be interesting. Good intro. I dunno why, but it reminds me of a mix between gosick and Shakugan no Shana. |

| I was looking forward to seeing what this one is about, and I wasn't disappointed. What I like is the protagonist; he's neither too formal nor too casual, practically intelligent and knowledgeable, strong without being overbearingly or aggressively so and calm in a crisis. I've seen too many shows where the main male lead is either a complete wimp or aggravatingly bullheaded. Dalian is a bit too stereotypical tsundere for my taste though. I hope her character softens up a little in later episodes; she seemed more friendly towards the end of the episode, so I think that's a possibility, and depth will come with time. Either way, I'm optimistic. |
| That was the longest "magic spell" casting time EVER. I'm surprised the dragon didn't just rip off his head while he was reading that book out loud. But then again, it's anime. Dalian = win. Overall, this anime is OK. I still prefer Gosick though. ED was creepy. Very "dark" On to the next episode! |

| Except for the dragon being 'good', everything was pretty good for a 1st episode. Like the cute blonde and thanks God, Dalian isn't an irritating tsundere. Watching Victorique was such a pain for the last two seasons >.> Love the BGM <3 The glowing texts and butterflies were pretty. Did remind me of Beatrice a bit. Oh how I love pop-up books *.*..Haven't seen one for a long long time. And Ono <3; never gets old. |

| We haven't seen the protagonist while he was reading the book, as far as we know the moment he started to read it magic might have been surrounding him. Dalian said that those that understand the book will have power while those that don't will be consumed by the book's power which will then be loose in the real world. The protagonist understood the book the moment he opened it, meaning that the moment he read the first word he should have been in possesion of this power Dalian talked about, the more he read and the more he'll be able to draw power from the book. Also I beleive that the dragon was like about any animal existing. Lot of animals love to corner their prey and play with them before killing them. As long as it do not feel endangered the dragon had no reason to jump at his head and the moment it felt endangered it was already too late for it. |

| Seems really interesting. I like Gainax, and this was an alright first episode so I'm looking forward to more. Dalian's voice doesn't really bother me. And that ending was really cool. I like it. |

| Is it just me or is Gainax pandering to the mallgoths now? First we got Panty & Stocking which they ate up and now we have frilly dresses and a bizarre live action costume party in the woods ED. What's next...a Blair Witch anime done by Gainax? |

| The dragon was such a bro. It waited until they 1. thought of strategies which wouldn't work out (2 mins) 2. made a contract (Further 2 mins) 3. read a book for that met its doom (Another 3 mins) Anyways, I am probably replacing Mawaru with this one. Dunno what's going on in that other anime. So I guess I will just replace that one with something as generic as this one. :/ |

| Like everyone else, I'll make the inevitable comparison to Victorique. Dalian has spunk and provides the energy for the show. The music at the beginning was well done, but near the middle and end, it started to detract from the experience by not really matching what was going on. Atmosphere I believe is important in mystery series. So far, love the character interaction between the two characters, especially when he called her a pet! The animation is quite fluid and the details help provide the atmosphere. Man did it take long for the grimoire to take effect... Dragon was nice enough to stay put and not try and kill them. ED was... Shaft-like... bizarre, yet eye-catching. Anyone know how old is Dalian? If she's considered a friend to his grandfather, she can't be that young can she? I'd say a decent start. |
