| This is old but still bumping this. Why hasn't the hiatus and discontinued added till now. I have been burned by Orange and Iris Zero. I don't like reading a story if there isn't a possibility of reading a conclusion. I know there is a support club but the status on the manga page will be better. |

Thanks for bumping the thread, alanwake. This is the first time I see this thread, but I totally agree with it and have had the same idea myself. A lot of Manga series like to go on a so-called Hiatus, and such a status would be brilliant to have, IMHO. :) |

| In addition, I would like to see specific rules set down to determine when a manga should be switched from publishing to completed due to hiatus. I was told a while back that OAVs get switched to completed if they go more than a year without a new episode. I think there should be a similiar system in place for manga. DNAngel was on hiatus for nearly 5 years before it was marked as complete and I could mark it completed on my list. The Haruhi Suzumiya novels has been on hiatus for nearly 5 years as well and I won't be able to mark them complete. Manga/novels can be changed back to publishing if a new chapter or volume is released easily enough so I don't see any reason why a one or two year limit can't be implemented before they are marked complete, if only so stuff doesn't sit in our on hold for half a decade. |

| I definitely agree with this being added. Makes keeping track of manga a lot easier when it comes to figuring out if a manga is actually "on going" or not; but I feel like something like this might require confirmation from the authors themselves. |

| Makes sense for series with almost indefinite hiatuses like X or Nana where MAL just lists them as completed when they are not. It should be allowed to be placed on the completed list but a status with 'hiatus' will be displayed alongside it similar to the 'publishing' one. Maybe the timeframe could be a 6 months or something before it is listed as hiatus? |

| There needs to be a 'cancelled' status too. Final Fantasy XI: The Out of Orders was cancelled but MAL says its still publishing when its not. |

| It's rather surprising that this hasn't been implemented yet, because I'm sure I've seen a thread suggesting this almost 3 years ago (the thread was already 3/4 years old at the time, I think). Anyway, agreed especially considering that the "Currently Publishing" status would be inaccurate for such series. Could also add a notification for this. |
