According to Young Animal magazine, the first film of the Berserk Movie series will be premiered in January 2012. It's the first chapter of the trilogy "Berserk Film: Golden Age".

Screenshots of the first movie

The director is Kubooka Toshiyuki (The general anime director of "Top wo Nerae!", the character designs of "The iDOLM@STER" game). According to the official twitter, the film project of Berserk will last more than a decade.

So instead of having an actual ending for Berserk, they're making a movie with probably the same story line and ending?

....

*sigh

they're starting from the beginning and hopefully not stopping, i doubt very seriously it'd take the same ending as the anime series

you should be saying

January 12 marks the coming of what will be the start of probably the greatest anime movie saga our world has ever seen

get hype

I bet that even then the manga would not be close to finishing.

Well I'm not really a Berserk fan, but I'll at least watch this first movie to see how it goes. It looks promising, all things considered.

Cool... I can't wait! 10 years of movies?! This means that the manga will be over in 10 years...? Thank God, I thought Miura would keep on publishing Berserk for decades to come... -.-

Good to hear... I should really get around to reading Berserk one day. I really like what I saw in the anime. Of course I was disappointed with the ending, but hopefully the movies can change that.

ehhhhhhh...i'm not as excited as i was before. while movies are nice, i was hoping for another weekly tv series...a reboot like FMA had. on the other hand, because its movies, that means some of the more graphic elements of the manga can be included, and thats always a plus.

Aahh Berserk <3
This is wonderful news, although I'm not sure if I'm excited about the "decade of Berserk movies" or overwhelmed by all the time I'm gonna have to wait for all of them... ah well, at least I hope they give a proper ending to the series now.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST SEEING THIS MADE CRAZY JUST SEEING THE WORD BERSERK ON THE NEWS HERE ON MAL
Now all we need is for them to announce the staff for the movie!
They must have the BEST people on board(story, animation not like that OLM abomination, music, and of course actors.
Although I'd prefer the animation studio to be production IG but oh well studio 4 will do

This will rock your face. The 80s Berserk was okay but it really was sloppy around the edges. Revisiting the epic base storyline will revitalize it and really blow us away.... like others though I'm really itching to see some of the latter battles animated too. I'm doing my best to try to keep it in my pants.

Give us Puck. Give us the brilliant badass excellence that is Berserk. It will be Glorious my comrades.

Those screenshots are gorgeous. Enough to make me want to check it out right there.

Though I never read the manga because I was a bit put off by the fact that it may not ever have an ending...

At least ten years...good luck with that, we all can see what's happening with Hellsing Ultimate which is much shorter in terms of pages to adapt.

Now.... ten years, for Berserk.... I see the movies will be pretty much like the manga... Oh, wait, te manga have more than 20 years. And I bet that even after the whole movie proyect, the manga will still have a long way to go xDDDD
It's funny that the Idolmaster guy is there, Miura sure must be happy (?)

An endless series of movie adaptations of an endless manga. Fitting, really.

I'd have preferred the Helling Ultimate OVA treatment for time and faithfulness purposes. The movies will most likely have years in-between them and if they ever hope to catch-up with the manga then they'll have to rush through/ignore certain parts. I'd be fine with the first 3.5 volumes getting skipped entirely, but rushing through the best part of Berserk - which the TV series already covered and may factor in any decision on faithfulness - would ruin it.

Hopefully, the Wyald fight gets included in anime form, this time around. It'd be epic. And the conivction arc is full of fights perfect for the move treatment.

So what this means now is that basically the anime watchers will see Berserk at the frequency manga reader can read it? :P
