Yeah. I used to prefer anime.

I prefer manga over anime. I didn't know about manga at first, so my anime list is a lot longer. :p But there are certain series I didn't fully enjoy the anime, but loved the mess out of the manga.

My first true hobby was American comics but I then discovered anime. At the time (the early 90s) there wasn't a whole lot of translated manga (and what there was of it was mostly seinen). So I moved from comics to anime. In the early 00s manga started to take off more (it went from a handful of volumes in a story to a few shelves). I bought a couple of titles and dug it but then I bought Paradise Kiss. I was hooked, it reminded me of what I had enjoyed with comics but with a different variety of stories.

I still watch a decent amount of anime but I prefer original concept shows. I also still read some American comics here and there (if you look there is some really great stuff out there). Manga is my biggest hobby though.

I started out with manga, but once I discovered anime, I switched to that. I think that now I'm starting to gradually shift over to manga once more, though. I'll probably keep switching it up.

I started to watch anime first. Then I'm into manga. Because laggy internet is laggy--so it's better to spend my time reading manga while waiting for anime batch to be downloaded by my torrent client. So now I'm into manga.

Most definitely. There was a time, when I was very young, that I would watch ANY anime. (For reference, this is pre-Pokemon.) No series has yet to interest me completely, although a few movies did change my perspective on what anime could be (Perfect Blue comes to mind). I guess the general amateurish dubbing (I don't like watching subtitled animation) as well as the output of pure crap being touted as The Greatest Thing Of All Time -- I'm surprised, to say the least, at the number of supposed adults that follow the adventures of a blond ninja in an orange jumpsuit -- has turned me off almost completely to anime.

Haven't watch a full anime series in almost eight months. I've really been on a manga binge. Can't say i'll go back except for really good movies.

I went from manga to anime. Now it's just anime and my manga list goes for months at a time without being touched.

I'm still watching anime (just the currently airing ones) but I'm gonna finish most of the manga that I'm currently reading.
Although I was into watching anime at first then I started collecting and buying manga's. So I'm technically doing both. I'm reading whatever manga I felt like reading at my own pace.

I used to marathon anime. A few summers ago, I began reading manga series one after the other, and now I follow dozens of series that haven't concluded yet but release weekly. And it was only after I found Random Curiosity that I picked up anime again, but mostly the currently airing shows in Japan from Crunchyroll and Niconico.

I'm more interested in Manga now compared to Anime, you're missing out a lot if you only focus on Anime lots of awesome Manga never make it to Anime.

i started with anime but after finding out that 99.999% of anime's start from the manga i decided to read all my favourite anime's and go from there.
What a surpirse! The manga's have more back story and more characters and are just awesome all round XD

The good thing now it that i read mangas and THEN watch the anime. It's like watching your fav characters come alive :D

Plus there are SO many good manga's out there that aren't made into animes.....yet :P

I started out watching anime until I got tired of it. I switched it up with some manga and I can't stop. Reading is just so much more accessible than watching an anime. I'd say I've been successfully converted.

I feel like it's slooowly happening right now. I'm typically too lazy for manga though and prefer to watch anime since it's so much easier to do other things meanwhile.

But recently I've been keeping up with less anime and picking up manga at an increased rate - compared to my old like manga a year lmao. xD

I had to do it. Mostly for time issues. But another reason was that the Manga sometimes had the "actual" plot in it. o3o

Sometimes i do.

Especially when I wasn't pleased with the ending of the anime...
OR because the anime ended prematurely...
OR when I was discontent with the artwork or seiyuu quality.

I dare to state that i prefer manga than anime unless my Internet could run faster to deliver every episode (TT__TT)
If you just did nothing because you thought it wouldn't help, then you'd end up doing less than nothing; for nothing would change and nothing would end. (Kira Yamato - Gundam Seed Phase 34: Seen & Unseen)

The other way round. I started off with intense manga collecting and then moved on to anime. One reason being that I dislike reading online, and therefore manga became too expensive. I still collect mangas, but my main focus is on animes, has been for 4 or 5 years.
I probably regret this post by now.

I started with anime - it was on TV and watched it before I even knew what anime was.

now, although I still have an anime club and I go to weekly screenings, I probably end up reading more manga. I can carry it around with me, and if I read it at work it is quiet :-)

I have bought a lot more manga than anime in recent times, but I have started getting back into the anime again. They are different, and what I feel like doing depends on lots of things. *shrug* there have been lots of mangas I have found only because I watched the anime!

I use to be one of those people who would bash manga readers. I would only watch anime. I bashed people and put down the manga community w/o really trying it out. Turns out I got hooked by it right away as I spent hours reading 100's of chapters hahaha

I started off watching Naruto and then got tired of it. Switched to Bleach and watched until there was no more available. I decided to read the manga which continued the story and from there on I've never really watched more than one or two episodes of any anime that was originally a manga. Only time I watch anime is when it was created as an anime, i.e. Cowboy Bebop.

This excludes shows that I watched when I was a kid, Dragonball, Sakura etc.

The first time i watched anime was a while back and i didn't realize it myself at that time, and eventually i got into manga since it was actually more of a story rather than fillers that haunt many long running animes nowadays.

In the past I switched between long periods of "MUST WATCH ANIME! >:O" and "MUST READ MANGA! >=U" but nowadays I try to balance the two, since there are pros and cons to both forms of that particular media.
Though of the two, I prefer anime.

I started watching Anime by hard-coring Bleach. After catching up to the latest episodes, I couldn't resist but read the manga and eventually caught up to the latest chapters as well, since the story was getting good (at the time when Bleach was awesome *sheds tear*). I still watch Anime often but I prefer manga overall due to the fact that Anime is just an adaptation of the manga and doesn't always have all the bits in the manga. I currently don't read much manga though, lol. Still working on my list.

The only time I transitioned from anime to manga was when I got really into Negima! and my mom told me the anime was nothing like the original. I tried it out and stuck with it since. I guess Naruto counts, but I could care less about what happens now in the new chapters, I dropped it after the Pain arc.

Uuuuummmmm, yes. Anime was ok for a while...but as they say, the book was better than the movie. Manga beats anime at least 9 times out of 10. SO much more enjoyment to be had.

Went to manga after getting bored with anime. I mean, you have to wait for the characters to finish speaking (fast reader with a short attention span here) before getting to the next part. It's usually alright, but once they start whining on some shows for hours at a time (with zero justification), it would be so much easier to go through all that melodrama quicker.

I still watch more anime online though; my computer loads manga pages hellishly slow...

Yes, like most people I too started with anime and gradually began reading more and more manga...Mainly because 1.you can read it at your own pace, 2.no fillers and 3. it's the original(well, excluding anime-first productions, of course)
