I've only watched the Anime, so how many years do you think the manga will complete and I can read it? Is it even close to coming to an end in the manga? Thanks |

Confucius said: You mean new arc just after season one? If they wanted, they could make 50 episodes long first season without any filler. even right now they can make 50 episodes... manga is far ahead. you can just start. don't waste your time, its not ending soon. though after catching up you will have problem with releases. one break is for sure after every second issue. (though its getting double now) |

Han-yuu said: Not soon. it's just beginning of a new arc in manga and there are lots of things left for original plot. new volumes are getting good sales in japan. so i don't think author will wrap up story quickly. Exactly, It's seems that it will take more that 4 years for Nakamura Yoshiki sensei to end up this manga, since it started being published 9 years now. As Han - Yuu said a new arc has just recently started, looks like it will bring a lot of action and will make the characters develop their feelings. I don't want to be so old when this manga ends! |

spoiler I am with you Romance5, I think after the arc with her mother is over now, the series willl be done soon. I don't know whats still left of the story except Ren and Kyoko realizing their mutual love for each other. Maybe some last Sho and Reino moments to wrap it up but that's about it. Knowing Nakamura-sensei though I think she'll make it an awesome ending. (long but awesome) |

Yeah right, there's only one chapter per month so...there's no way this will be done soon. But I think when it comes to character development there is not that much left storywise. Ren said he's okay now. Kyoko already acknowledged her love for Ren. Kyoko has to deal with her fears yet and Ren and Kyoko have to have some misunderstandings (the white day present) and a fight and confession scene and stuff...but apart from that I don't see any other major character developments that need to be adressed. Maybe I am rong? Anyone else a different idea? |

16 years....WoW o.O 10 years since anime aired, that was about the time I stopped reading it. I just thought to take a peek again...and don't get me wrong fans....but... seriously did it ever move forward? I get that to really get Kyoko and Ren together they had to "grow up" so to speak (or to grow a spine ;) to each their own;):), but really? It feels more like the author jus doesn't know how to get them together and is stalling. But like I said that may just be because I "abandoned" it so long ago? Anyone know if there are plans for the grand finale any time soon? Because I'd love to see Kyouko and Ren get together! They'd be ssoooooooo cuteee!!!! WHHHIIOIIIII:):) |

This is not a series that solely focuses on the romance. Most of the time has been spent on the development of Kyoko with slow development on the romance end. Also, it has only been 16 years from our perspective. In-universe this is only the second year since the start of the series. Most of which has been focused on developing her character and progressing her career. It is only relatively recent that she's undergone enough change for romantic development to actually start making sense. As for the author not knowing how to bring the two together. Well, I'd say she knows far more on how to do that then many other authors that focus solely on the romance. |

I love skip beat I do but it's exasperating to see the plot line move so slowly. And every time there is a step forward feeling in their romantic understanding of each others feelings Nakamura Sensei pushes them right back where they were if not farther behind. I understand that she is, what 17 now in the story line but with just a chapter monthly of an average of 25 pages, and a month out every year it feels like it still has 10 year to go and it boggles the mind. I know there is always going to be people to say "ohhhh but I love it so much! I never want it to end!" So my answer to them is with all due respect at this point the plot seems to be at a standstill and it is getting stale. Because it is always the same roadblocks. There is nothing new in either direction! After the siblings arc I had hoped that we make a step forward but no, still stuck. After the mother arc I hoped we make a step forward but it is still no. At some point it has to move forward. If I were the author and read the general comments stating I watched the anime 10 years ago, that's when I stopped reading until now just to discover things have not changed significantly I'd be a little out of sorts. Before any body gets righteous anger attacks. YES I love skip beat. Yes I respect Nakamura Sensei, but to those who claim there has been character developement, what character developement are we talking about here. The only development in, what 20 volumes?, is that Kyoko discovered she is fallen for Ren. Yippididoda! All I am saying is, the manga could do a bit more faster pace. |

I mean I was in high school when I first started reading this manga and now I'm a university graduate for a year... and there is still no development. I still love the chapters and I occasionally check out for new chapters but I want to see them get together before I marry you know?! |

Doesnt seem like it will end anytime soon....especially with the no progress in rens and kyokos relationship and all the misunderstandings between them... i love skip beat but i think its getting a bit dragged at this point...i thought that after the siblings arc(which i really loved bc there was progress and the plot was wonderful and made you want to look forward to what will happen next) there would be progress and would confess bit instead they went to zero |

The fact that this was originally posted in 2011 asking if it's ending is absolutely nonsense. I love skip beat but it takes months for a single interaction. And it's gotten worse as time goes on. I can only say that the author is just dragging it out to make money because the plot flowed much faster in the beginning; which is entirely aggravating because the readers deserve an end. Kyoko and Ren have reached a place where they are aware of their feelings - it shouldn't be too far for them to get together because the whole series before this was just character development. Especially right now because Ren has just trapped Kyoko in an elevator after "Bo" has just told him to tell her. And I whole heartedly believe the author is just going to bullshit it again - especially since the whole conversation, Ren seeing Kyoko, Ren chasing Kyoko and, ren finally trapping Kyoko took about 5 months. I don't care about ths money, make another Manga - there are so many Manga authors who have multiple Mangas. Thank you for listening to my TedTalk |

I actually agree with these last few coments. Right now the story is just dragging. Each chapter barely anything happens and even when there is a build up to something, it never really gets anywhere. If after the ending of this last arc, elevator and bo telling ren to confess, if they don’t move forward, i am going to put this on hold for a few years. Following monthly leaves me more frustrated than pleased with the series. |

Honestly, based off of the events to happen in the manga, for a good ending is realistically going to take at least another 120-150 chapters. While most of the romance is coming along nicely now. Kyoko is still quite far from becoming an international star like the president wants. She has still only been in 2 roles...3 if you include her upcoming momiji or 5 if you include Bo and Setsuko. I’d imagine without cutting corners she will need another 3-6 roles minimum so this doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon. Ren still has past issues to resolve as well, and I’m sure the issue with Kyoko’s father still being missing since he ran would also be an ideal story to tell. Unfortunately the author is not getting any younger and I understand painfully well how hands end up hurting the more you get older (and I’m only 26). As much as it would be nice to do more frequent and longer chapters it’s sadly not realistic so I do worry if the author can hold out till the end as she is already past 50 now. With no accidents it would be nice...maybe within the next 7-8 years if we get spoiled, or 10-13 if we don’t. These are all just my own guesses. Manga authors are often amazing with their surprises. |

Reading all the comments since 2011 is amusing because people thought back then that the end is near and look where we are now😅 280+ chapters and we just hit a beginning! I can see the manga being one of the longest running romcoms and maybe the first because I know none with 500 chapters. There is still so much to explore with the manga for Ren and Kyoko that could stretch it to 400+ chapters maybe. And with the crazy number of characters and side stories introduced we can have another 200+. If Ren's elevator scene was executed in 3 chapters, you can't expect any less?!😆 On theotherhand, the latest chapters felt like an ending for me because after 200+ chapters Kyoko and Ren went through a whole lot of crazy stuff except for this one thing that we finally got! So anything following this is a sequel of the happy ending for me😁, though I'll always be a big fan💜 |

I started reading skip beat about two years ago, I saw the anime first then read the manga. Silly me!! Back the. I thought two years should be enough to go back and continue reading, because surly it must have ended. WRONG! I can’t believe that the original post was 9 years ago! I’m chocked I can not wait to know how the story will end. It’s by far the best ROMCOM I’ve ever ready, BUT for the love of god, end already!!! Lol Any recommendations for similar managed 😊 |

I started reading this last May..can't believe it has been 18 years since it has started! There was a part of me that didn't like ongoing manga as it was a pain to wait for the next chapter, especially when it is monthly/bi-monthly. But that changed after reading Skip Beat, I started wanting more. I want to see more of Kyoko's acting roles, how she'll perform it and of course their character developments. ( Ren's past is what makes me most curious at the moment.) So I could say that I don't want it to end. This is the first manga that has hooked me to it this much. And Kyoko and some other characters give me inspiration sometimes, no, maybe all the time, so whenever I read it, it becomes a source of inspiration for me as well. But I AM SAD because it takes a month or two to read the next chapter so I wish it would become weekly or at least every fortnight (though I know it probably won't happen) The author may not even be able to complete the manga as @AceMajin said. I am really grateful to Nakamura Yoshiki-sensei for creating this wonderful manga and for keeping up with the surprises. |

We all want to see the end of it, but with the current flow of the story it certainly just can't end now !! It took them 280+ chapters to have a proper development and it's just the beginning. But I must admit that the pacing is kinda slow. |

It's kinda funny, in a sad way, that it's STILL not done a decade after people were already asking "when is it going to end?". I used to read Skip Beat but stopped because it was repetitive and getting nowhere. With a fairly limited core cast, you don't need 280 chapters to have "proper development". I'll probably pick it up again when it's done, which at this point looks like it won't happen in my lifetime lol. |

I would be okay with the manga not ending just now and continuing to run for a few more years. BUT the pace really needs to speed up again. One conversation or situation is dragged out through several chapters now often. Why? There's no need for that. You could deliver content filled chapters for years to come because this is not only a romance story. There's so much to explore like Kyoko's acting career, her family life, the supporting characters. Even the romance between her and Ren could slowly progress and she could even become pregnant and whatnot. All that would give content enough for years and years even if you did not drag out a single event endlessly...Most of us like the characters enough to continue following the story even if the main objective of this romance "get together with Ren" is fulfilled. So why? It's actually making me enjoy the series less with the way it's going... |

Take the Momiji's arc for example. Momiji is the first drama role, Kyoko has had to audition for, yet the whole filming was skipped through pretty fast. A decent amount of time was given to her training and the audition itself, but after that pretty much few scenes and we're done with that "A Lotus in the Mud" movie. The scenes that are stretched are scenes with great emotions involved, like the Heel siblings interactions, the "going in guns blazing", etc. and they should be so. Detailed from both of their perspectives. The meat of series that needs to be properly and slowly chewed for better digestion. |
