James Richard Verone woke up June 9 with a sense of anticipation.

He took a shower.

Ironed his shirt.

Hailed a cab.

Then robbed a bank.

He wasn’t especially nervous. If anything, Verone said he was excited to finally execute his plan to gain access to free medical care.

That's one particularly wise man in one particularly retarded country (in terms of health care).

This sounds like the time when people in the Great Depression wanted to go to jail just to even get fed.

Seriously, I do wonder sometimes why homeless people don't just commit crimes, given that even if they're sent to jail at least they'll have a roof over their head, somewhere to shower and food to eat.

Then he plans to spend a few years in jail, before getting out in time to collect Social Security and move to the beach.
Wow, he's really thought this through. Exploiting the system for the win?

The teller was so frightened that she had to be taken to the hospital to be checked out.
From what exactly? A man calmly walking up to you, asking for a dollar, and saying he'll go sit quietly in the corner until the police arrive? Real scary, there.

Apparently, if he isn't charged with armed robbery and instead charged with Larceny he won't get any health care. I hope he gets the care he needs.

Well, people will do crazy things to survive. Give the guy a break, he already had a limp and had gone through a couple jobs already and now he gets an protrusion on his chest? You need to understand that when it comes to these kinds of things, survival takes precedence over decency.

Side note: Canadian Health Care would have stopped this.

I was thinking the same thing when i read that.

Now that i think about it, it kind of reminds me of how my grandma gets worked up and over exaggerates...

Well, when someone does an unexpected thing like that, it does tend to stun other people. She must have been scared that this guy was trolling her and was actually here to do something more sinister. After all, how many stories of one dollar bank robberies do you hear about?

We are afraid of new things.

Meanwhile GE pays zero taxes due to tax breaks.
I used to be a little against Illegal immigrants, but a reports show more illegals pay taxes than big corporations. So they contribute to the greater good, while Corporate America sucks off dollars that could've helped this guy. CUBA for gods sake, makes sure that every village has access to healthcare!
