| I'm guessing Tetsuro won't turn cynical like most people who learn to ignore beggars because something like this is actually a common experience. Nobody likes it if their kindness is seen as gullibility. This episode also made me think about the changes in child-rearing. Of course this is a fantasy show, but Maetel is consistently letting a young boy walk alone in strange cities. While parenting might not have been this relaxed in the 70s, it is true that children were trusted much more to play on their own and come back safely. I have a feeling the money Maetel gives Tetsurou is actually her own and not from the GE. At least it wouldn't make sense for a train company to be paying the customers for using their services :) |

The question is, why are there so many beggars in the first place. Something is terribly wrong with Trader's economy if there's so high level of unemployment. So that they don't get passengers who spent everything on the ticket and don't have any money left for their travelling expenses |

| My first thought about the allowance when I was a child: Maetel gave a ticket in order to take Tetsurô with her, so why not money too? 4/5 |

| Trader is the society that has two faces. The glamorous face, where wealth is noticeable everywhere; and the poor face, where hungry people want to eat at any cost. It is a complex situation and one in which Tetsuro was the protagonist of a funny scene in the lamen store and helping a girl survive. |
| Tetsurou couldn't feed every starving person in Trader, but he did make a friend with the first person he fed, and she led him to safely. Maetel is worried sick, but hopefully, Tetsurou will be fine, but that being said, he doesn't have his cosmo gun. |
