| Actually, I have no idea whether KanYu is capable or not. But, at this point, he's just very jealous of Chirico and is doing everything he can to stay in command. That stupid attack was just a demonstration of power on his part. He's still useless though. But if the commander still wants him on the team, maybe he's just very good inside an AT? *shrugs* |

| I love that there's actually some nuance here. While Kan Yu is being steered to folly by his jealousy and pride, he tends to be right about things. That temple was a Veela base. Most shows would just have him be the stereotype of an incompetent, cruel commander. This is all the more surprising because of the obvious parallels between the Kummen section of the series and the American phase of the Vietnam war. It's rare for anime to pass up a chance to be snotty about Americans. |

| Kan Yu is definitely a bit corrupt, but there was a Veela base in that temple. The operation didn't go as initially planned, but they took some Veela down at least. Vanilla surely enough, enlisted, and arrived there with new military commands. |
