| ^Angel Beats for example. :P Or Code Geass, Darker than Black, Gurren-Lagann, Evangelion. All of these have some kind of manga, but the anime was first and the manga was created afterwards. Full list of original anime on AniDB. |

Of course there are original anime, i.e. those not based upon a previously published material. Their number has been increasing recently. Another original anime in this season would be AnoHana. Actually, noitaminA slot has had quite a few original anime. Also, last year there was Anime no Chikara, a project established for creation of original anime, which resulted in three anime: Sora no Woto Senkou no Night Raid Occult Academy Some notable original anime (most of them have their manga counterpart, but anime had been created first; well, some were actually cross-media releases): Cowboy Bebop Madoka Magica Paranoia Agent Wolf's Rain Le Chevalier D'Eon Samurai Champloo Noein Samurai 7 Mononoke Blood+ (and the upcoming Blood-C) Ghost Hound Eve no Jikan Karas Ergo Proxy + tons of movies And there's also this extensive list on AniDB CG said: I hope against all hope some day we'll get a manga based on the show.
