The stage will be a modified version of "39's Giving Day" live held in Tokyo on March 9th in 2010. The 3D video will be produced by SEGA and Crypton Future Media will supervise the whole stage.

Hold on. A Vocaloid, live? Something's seriously wrong here. I thought these guys weren't actual people, are they?

Sponsored by Toyota, I presume.

But who cares about seeing a computer program live? Not me, that's for sure.

Seeing Kalafina live would be pretty neat, though.

Well, I am as much of a computer otaku as I am an anime one, if not more. The technology that will be behind the live Miku events will undoubtedly be state-of-the art, but I just don't care for her like diehard otaku seem to.

It is perfectly fine to like her. However, I just don't see the appeal in her, apart from the fact she never ages, has "naturally" green hair and will never get married (you know what purity otaku are like). As for the singing, well it's not great, but a lot of mainstream pop uses autotune anyway and it' on par with those autotune-abusing artists.

Only slightly interesting part of the news. Slightly, because I don't live in the US.

I still remember the day I learned about the projection (it is actually a projection, not hologram) ...I think I actually dl-ed that Vacaloid concert and watched it all xD
Anyway, I wish I would've lived in the US...I hope they'll come in my country as well(though that is one of the most impossible things you could see)
To the Americans going there; don't forget your glowing stick!

Haha looking at projected anime singers live on a screen is pretty cool and creepy at the same time. =P

The technology is awesome, that's for sure.

Hm... I wonder what I'd have to do to get there? I'm gonna look into what the plane tickets and such would cost, but probably way beyond my means. I don't even have a passport. It's such a bitch that we even need those to cross the border now.

Personally I feel she represents a level of perfection unattainable by humans. Then again, I'm a bit of a technophile. The thought of removing the human element from music seems amazing. As you've mentioned, most voices on the radio these days get synthesized to the point that it's less than distinguishable anyway. She sounds about as real as Kanye does in any of his songs;)

This is how we've come to develop as a race. Our navigational abilities were limited, so we would record the landscape on maps and use compasses and sextants to create a level a precision we couldn't otherwise utilize. Now we have GPS that can literally just navigate for us. Our voices are flawed. They crack. They sing a little differently each time. We sometimes forget a note or come in too soon or too flat. We augment our voices electronically to correct these mistakes and now we have a program that can sing for us. Not only that, but it successfully simulates an idol/celebrity we can worship without any of the mistakes and insanities that will inevitably lead to crashing and burning. Like a Michael Jackson who's perpetually seventeen, but less flawed. Less breakable. None of the blemishes or unsightly character deficits.

She is the physical and aural manifestation of the perfection we strive towards but can never attain. The light at the end of the tunnel. The divine broken down into code that I might witness it first hand.

Not that there's anything wrong with not liking her of course. We all have our tastes. If you're asking about her appeal though that's my two cents on what I see on her.

While I don't really like the music that much, it'd still be interesting to go see once. Maybe if they come to Canada some day.

It's a shame that I live on the east coast, otherwise I would definitely go just for the experience.
Looking at posts on the Internet wouldn't bother me so much if people didn't also mix up he and she.

This would be awesome, if it wasn't in America.

I'd totally go see Kalafina live if they came to England though, but that'll probably never happen. This saddens me.

Vocaloid concert in Japan? Yeah that is something that was known for.
Now in USA? Not so appealing.

People went to Japan to see one of these concerts and now you are going to promote it to go in America? Yeah, nice move Japan.

I understand, I've never been interested in them.
But anyway, I once saw a part of the concert in Japan, at least I thought the technology was cool.

I'll probably go watch it if there is no other event happaning at the time.
I used to believe the brain was the most important organ in the body.
Then I realized - - Look what's telling me that.

Aww man I would love to go to this. I live in California, but driving up to L.A. is a bit too much for me. I hope they can do it somewhere south of Cali in the future. I hope someone can post it up on youtube so I can wallow in what i missed. I gotta find me some Miku fans down here who are willing to go.
