So why hasn't anyone else trained to be the relief pitcher? They've had plenty of opportunities and more than enough reason.

Also, they definitely should have walked him. Not that it would have mattered, in this type of series there is absolutely no chance whatsoever of them making it to Koshien until the third year. Its the one immutable fact that I hate most in baseball series :/

the series had one high point somewhere in the middle, but otherwise it dragged in all the worst parts of both sports and shoujo manga/anime and clumped them together in the last half of the series to drag down its score. Seriously, the only good/moderately original thing that happened after they qualified for the tournament was Seishiro and Hikaru getting together.

I hate such kind of endings that pretty much says "make your own ending"... I would like to see 12 ep 2nd season of their romance development and how they finally reach Koshien.

Now it was kinda a sad ending...

Wait a minute, girls can't play at Koshien. Anyways, I can't tell if this is a shoujo or a penis-bait sports anime.

I liked it overall but I did find the show to be frustrating at times. I'd say the strongest aspect of the show was seeing all the girls supporting each other and showing a lot of passion for baseball. I wouldn't say it was that good of a sports show though. But I think that just makes it more approachable for people who aren't that into baseball. Most of the romance stuff was typical and a lot of that drama is what left me frustrated. In the end it was definitely fun to watch and I found myself getting excited by all of the turns in the story even though once I thought about it I had quite a few criticisms of the show.

First 7 episodes = Not bad.
The rest = Pretty bad.
Last episode = MAX CRINGE.

I hope Taisho Yakyuu Musume is much better than this.

The opening storyline of Izumi's angst at her mother's interest in the baseball team and her hatred of Ryo that turned into unwanted fascination after their bet in episode 9 was pretty good but it just has nearly no steam after that and choosing to focus on romance for the last part of the series was a complete disaster because of bland plotting and because the romantic leads are perhaps the least interesting characters in the show.

It barely characterizes most of the cast which is forgivable since the reality of the sport demands a quite a large cast but instead of allowing most of them to be simple characters it tries to flesh them out at the worst times (Yuki, Yoshimoto, Koharu) with poor results.

I agree. The game itself really isn't the focus of the show and maybe for me at least it was a good thing because i never seen a real baseball game (i only have played the Finnish equivalent called pesäpallo but it's not the same thing)

To me the biggest disappointment about the show was that is started very bombastic and soap opera like but around the half point it went from that to more generic feel.

The heavy focus on Hayakawa insecurities wasn't a good thing either.

I still liked the show but it could have been much better.

I mean at least there was a confession but man the way they concluded that could of been so much better. Also it should of learned from Touch on how to do a decent love triangle. Not like that forced kiss, that really leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

So someone must have felt sorry for the childhood friend who only existed to get NTR'd up to that point. The characters weren't necessarily bad but the show failed to sell them, in fact the writers seemed to almost want to make us dislike them. Izumi was probably the best character. Sadly any success for the team was also a success for the Chairwoman, kind of ruining the stakes.

Taishou Yakyuu Musume handled the concept much more tastefully

(except he wasn't, because he still kissed another girl and betrayed your trust but you seem okay with that for some reason.)

Jumps into a river. Ends in hospital. Dies for a bit.

Team lineup: 1 girl who tried to kill herself once. 1 girl who had to disguise herself to play. 1 girl who was in a street gang. 1 girl who is too busy with makeup. 1 girl who was chosen because she was large. 1 girl whose father can die at any moment. 1 coach who has done 2 thing in 26 episodes but was mostly "just play or whatever my head hurts."

Literally all games: 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,SUDDENLY 100 POINTS!!! WIN!! 26 episodes later: 1 pitcher. "You can't just depend on her to win, we've all to do our parts!" Except you depended on her to win.

End of the end. Guy speaks up. THROW A BALL BECAUSE YOU LOVE ME. No, not because of your teammates. Not because you've been training for this for 26 episodes. Not because of anything like that. BECAUSE YOU LOVE ME. THE GUY. THIS WHOLE ANIME IS ME!!! THE GUY!!! She fucking does it.

They lose the semifinals. Anime ends.

I WANT TO RATE THIS FILTH -2 BUT MAL WON'T LET ME WHAT DO I DO???


Of course he hit a homerun you gave the pitches he wanted. what a great villain Hiroki is he manipulated these girls to win. Toying and stringing along these girls from episode one and that love confession to get her to throw those predictable pitches, masterful. This is not a show about a girl baseball team it's about one man's ambition. An almost 10/10 anime because of Hiroki. I have to admit I was scared when Ryou said Hiroki was the enemy I was like SHE KNOWS but she was being cute and talking about in baseball term. Truly a unique way to go about it and there was a little foreshadowing in episode 13 where the girl manipulated the opposite sex.

Damn, that was a painful ending. Not bad, but just really painful. I knew with the series length, the story wouldn't end properly, but with a "to be continued" of some sort instead. I'm glad the romance subplot was, for the most part, resolved, but still, damn. For what it's worth, this is a real underdog story where, realistically, a baseball team made in a single year couldn't go all the way and claim victory against much more experienced teams. It's a shame, but props to Phoenix Entertainment and all the associated staff, despite primarily having one-shot OVAs, crappy movies, and a lot of porn on their resume, Princess Nine is surely a hidden gem.

Actually a pretty sad ending, however I am kind of glad it ended that way. It would have been a major ass-pull if the girls actually ended up winning that game. Seems like they definitely planned for the story to continue for another season or two but I'm guessing the show was never popular enough for that to be feasible.
