THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I enjoyed Ojisan no lamp a lot but not this one. This one was just an average anime imo. Well, the fight scene was quite good but not the jokes. It wasn't funny at all.

Absolutely adored this. I liked Ojisan no Lamp, but this was just so incredibly fun and enjoyable. I loved every minute. I would love to see more of this style of animation/story. 10/10.

This was phenomenal. Simple, imaginative, and doesn't step on its own feet. Was this really so hard? Why can't there be more anime like this?

Feels a little bit like Dragon Ball what with the cheerful little fighting prodigy (that adults curiously lack inhibition in fighting), weird old man and goofy jokes. As far as martial arts comedies go, I guess that's a quite a good influence, but it struggled a bit to maintain interest after the opening sequence and before the series of fights that made up the second half. Unlike The Old Man's Lamp, this one could easily get spun off into a TV series or something. I guess I'd be pretty interested in seeing that and see how it would deal with room to grow.

It was nice, I liked it. If it spun-off into a series, there is a guarantee that I'd watch it. But this was a nice little thing.

This was really fun to watch. I just wish they made that Super Robot scene into its own anime. :D

Did you like the K-ON and Gundam parodies? I thought they were the weakest moments of the whole thing. It's only shallow parody; "This things looks like this other thing". I was hoping for fresh things with these four short films, so cheap backwards-looking for the mere sake of a poor joke disappointed me.

6/10 for this. It's ok but it didn't have a solid story like Ojisan no Lamp.

The show is supposed to be a piece of satire making fun of cliches in the typical shounen battle manga/anime where characters always tend to compete in a some kind of pointless martial art tournaments. I actually enjoyed random parodies and some of the trollings in the show. |

I actually enjoyed random parodies and some of the trollings in the show. How is this a satire rather than just a comedy? It does one of the hoariest shonen cliches perfectly straight; "having something to protect makes you strong". And it's not as if children or girls as martial arts story protagonists are anything new. And if its satirizing fighting anime, why are there parodies of Gundam and K-ON? They're still badly thought out. |

I loved it! Definitely wish that this had more episodes and wasn't a short. It didn't waste any time at all. The fight scenes were very well doe and I loved everything about it - I caught myself smiling like a fool a few times. 9 out of 10 for me.

It dragged in the middle, but the beginning and ending were fantastic and the visual style felt like an amazing mix of Mind Game and Wind Waker. A solid 4/5.

Jingoro the real OG! Loved it except for that portion where ojii-san was rambling about random jokes to the reporter that no one finds funny. I really like how pure the story is, totally wouldn't mind to get a series out of this story.

I thought it was funny and the martial art was pretty good too. The art is awesome, while the characters are watchable too especially the old man and Kizuna. Speaking of Kizuna, that girl is strong for taking on those guys, at almost 13 she was able too to kick those grown strong guy's asses. The cat took the movie in the end, what a badass looking too, that scar ( made me want too). The chant of their dojo made my day too, how I wish I belonged to the wadachi ju-ken school. Don't forget the finger fighting of the father and the jiji when they fighting. The only sin is that it wasn't longer, 8/10.

Very good animation demo. The comedy was fun sometimes. Enjoyment: 4/5 Score: 6/10 It's terrible to read "too short" every time I'm reading opinions about a short movie, no matter how conclusive it was. Or even if telling a story was the point.

The animation was amazing and the only good thing about it. The comedy was so atrocious especially the cat part, which was so horrible. I like the main girl but then you realize she is acting like a generic shonen protagonist, it's so cringe. Overall, extremely disappointing. Obviously, I was not expecting this to be as good as Ojiisan No Lamp, but this one was not even close. 3/10
