According to the official website, the TV airing and the online streaming of Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica were announced to be suspended for an indefinite period. The releases of the Blu-ray and the DVD were postponed for one month. The fifth volume will be released on August 24th, but the release date of the sixth volume, which contains the episodes 11 and 12, hasn't been announced yet.

According to the official twitter, the producers will keep on working hard to air the remaining two episodes by the end of April.

Urobuchi Gen posted on his twitter that he was sorry for betraying people's anticipation, which was originated from Urobuchi's optimistic comments. He said it had been so painful for these ten days that he couldn't stand without believing a good outcome.

It is a shame but I had an idea (although it's a very slim chance it could happen) when it could air.

The actual Walpurgis Night takes place on 30 April or 1 May, since that around a month away, do you think it could air around that time?

I don't get it, how can the contents of the last two eps be worse than whatever is airing right now to justify this? Considering the fact that they're not airing it online either, it doesn't see to be something the station imposed on the, but more something of their own volition. IOW, I'm guessing they have trouble getting stuff done on time and need to postpone for a long time to get them all out.

Either way, this sucks massively.

Side-note: I wonder if this will affect the release of MariaHolic 2 as well...

Because of the earthquake. Based off what we've seen so far (especially the last episode), the city it's set in is probably going to get completely destroyed before the finale, so that's a no go.

And the manga's still on right? It sucks that the anime got postponed, but we should get the conclusion from that in about a month if not.
NVM. It's for the best that it got called off too, I guess. No point in spoiling the plot with something that's probably not going to be as good.

I hope the people saying it'll be back in time for Walpurgisnacht are right.

It should stay as it is, just like it did with Bakemonogatari, which was on an on-off hiatus for the best part of a year until it actually finished.

Also, I can't help but feel that Urobuchi is using this as an excuse to air the last episode of Madoka as close to Walpurgisnacht (which was one month after when Madoka was supposed to finish airing) as possible.

Indeed. There is no hiatus status available and it's definitely not finished, so it'll stay at airing until we know anything else.

Well one thing I can say it Madoka was really a good anime. I wish they would of finished. However Japan is not doing well. In fact I have noticed most anime that are new on hold or coming out late. Some of the animes I have been watching have not had any more episodes come out. However teh fact is there are many people starving and living in shelters while its snowing. I watch it on the news 24 hours. I have only been for 4 days or 5 so far to visit my sick grandfather which luckily this area has not been affected. In this case I do not think anime is of much importance right now. So busy tending to the injured and trying to get food. I just wanted to put that out there.

Can't say I'm not upset (and very much so), but things can't always go the way we expect. After all, Sekiryu is right saying that Japan's situation is quite far from comfortable and fans can simply wait.

Jesus Christ, why can't SHAFT EVER release an anime normally on air like any other normal studio? Seriously, they have MONTHS to make an anime show and shit still gets delayed.
And what's even worse, fans will eat their shit up, the BDs will sell tens of thousands of copies and SHAFT will be swimming in money once again.

Yes, I mad.

Well, as long as I get my Maria Holic Alive next season.

http://animapple.blogspot.com/2011/03/madoka-hope-found.html

Feel bad for linking my blog, but there is still hope;

"It will be different from the original airing schedule, but we will try to adjust it to be able to deliver the episode by April."

From the official madoka twitter.

@Sam: Earthquake, you know that. They had screwed schedule already, and earthquake screwed it even more. Or, it would have been all fine.

and, I don't think Shaft's schedule is the only issue here. This kind of delay is more from the MBS/TBS/CBC broadcasters. I'm more thinking that the last two episode is so evangelion, and insane enough to be delayed with the excuse of earthquake crisis/apocalypse.

Sekiryu is full of shit. The one has nothing to do with the other. And Japan as a whole is in a bad situation only due to the economic damage. The people starving and having no place to sleep hardly affect all Japan in other factors. They are only a very small part of the population of Japan, the whole country isn't out on the streets without food.

Hehe... yep... Also, its Japanese themselves who are causing all those 'starve to death' situation, anyway. (not sending anything to the city for the reason of 'omg everyone needs to get equally helped so we are preparin!!!', blocking the road etc...). Their politics are just as screwed up as Korea. (...eh?)

Yeah, I do believe there's some overreaction, but it's not completely unreasonable why the broadcasters are trying so hard to play safe right now just after a tragedy.

Fucking called it. The moment I read that the animators would finish episodes hours before they aired, I knew prodcuction delays were going to be an issue. The earthquake didn't help matters any, but they should've had the episodes at least near ready by the time the earthquake struck.

Still, don't worry, guys. SHAFT is animating TWO new shows next season. That'll give them plenty of time to finish Madoka Magica! -_-
