| Watching the older series isn't required but I would recommend it. You'll have a better understanding of the back story a lot more (as to why Minmey is so important, what the Zentradi are, etc.) and there are numerous tributes to the series before it scattered throughout Frontier, so you would end up appreciating it more if you do so. |

The only other Macross series I can think of that can be considered to be "bad" is Macross 7, but thats only because it doesn't take itself seriously. Plus and Zero are fantastic, with Plus having a great song (Voices) and Zero having some of the best dogfights in the entire series. |
