| Rental Magica is one of my favorite anime. The reason for that is because it actually pays attention to existing occult schools of magic. There's even a sub group that explains everything the anime is referencing after the episode - I loved that. There's a girl who uses Solomonic magic, a Shinto specialist, a Celtic mage... It's very unlike the other anime I saw, which just invent magic as they see fit. As someone with a bit of knowledge in the occult, it was very intruiging. Now, it's understandable that most of the recommendations would be for anime that is about magic in any form. I'm not looking for that - I want something that pays attention to old traditions in the manner Rental Magica does. |
| Ghost Hunt might work. You have Shinto excorcism/magic with the priestess, Buddhist from the monk, and Catholic from the priest. And it does a decent job of showing it. |
