Give aid and be involved in helping those in need. Ways to help: 6 Ways To Help Victims <-- yes this is actually the elf's page. He did a really good job of narrowing down the choices. Full list Global giving There has been some interesting stuff going on over at twitter as well. Some mangaka are showing their support by posting encouraging pictures, such as illustrations of people smiling. If you're interested in keeping up on these, and other tsunami related things, pop over to twitter and search hashtags #tsunami and #prayforjapan. Also, the rumors on twitter that Satoshi Tajiri (creator of Pokemon) is dead are false. he's totally not dead, so don't believe it if you read it. |

We love this country, like what they do but we should care as if it happened to a country lost in the middle of nowhere that nobody knows? If it would have happened elsewhere I would worry about, but what? isn't politically correct enough to love a country more than another? regardless of the reason. Whatever... Yeah that and the fact that I'm in the middle of three shows currently airing that are likely going to get cut off. Plus that aside, Yeah how much does it suck when you have compassion for other people(sarcasm). Most people would feel some compassion and empathy no matter who it is in this situation. Don't they know that a few badeggs doesn't represent everyone? Sure the Japanese were "evil" in WWII, but it was only a few of them and not everyone. This sounds fairly messed up, but I think people like this should experience what the Japanese faced firsthand in order to shut them up. |

I really hate people using comments from random idots to depict a nation..... Really now?...... There is a better way to depict idiots, rather then just saying Americans. Just seems like you're making it out like all Americans are like this. No offense if that's what you didn't mean Caritas. But it came off like that. Any who, was following this since it happened kinda. Still feels bizarre when shit like this happens all of the sudden. Yeah, seen the other tsunamis. But this is from a more technologically advanced nation. Guess Cali is next.......... maybe they'll have new neighbors eventually. |

Come on, that's just pathetic. You don't have to feel more sorry then you feel all the other times when the shit hits the fan in another part of the world. I bet that in the last weeks more people have been killed in Libya than in Japan in one day. And is anyone praying for them? Or actually giving a shit about these people? Or donating? Maybe you could send your weapons to them, so they have some guns which they can use to expel Gaddafi. Or some ammo. And also stop being so naive: When you donate 10 $ to the Red Cross, do you really think you've done something for these people? If you feel guilty for not being a victim of an earthquake which took place more then 10'000 kilometer away, then just stop farting and save some these Greenhouse gases. Whatever, just continue criticizing others for actually having a heart. tempo_plus said: I bet that in the last weeks more people have been killed in Libya than in Japan in one day. And the death toll in Libya is 1,000 whereas Japan's is currently counted over 2,400, and: "On Sunday, the police chief of Miyagi, one of the hardest-hit prefectures, said the number of deaths was expected to exceed 10,000 in his region alone." You cannot say that more people have been killed in Libya than Japan, when they haven't even finished counting! Afterall, it's only been 3 days. Also, you are wrong. If you think about all the previous natural disasters, people did care then as well! It's not only for Japan. And the reason you believe that we only care about Japan, is, obviously, because you're on an anime site! And again, obviously, this situation is getting attention because it was an earthquake, tsunami, and an explosion! |

The only thing I can do to help the situation is donate. So I did. I don't care if people make idiotic arguments like "I don't know exactly where my money is going so I won't donate" or "you're all hypocrites for caring about this." All of that's irrelevant. It's either you help or you don't. Edit: @Waiitanai I may be a scientist and defend natural selection to my grave, but I'm also human. If you have the emotion, "sympathy," you will be unable to say no to giving aid, whether you personally feel it's "logical" or not. This is one argument I do not care to win or justify, nor do I have any interest in your personal opinions on the matter. Good day. |

Same here...I mean the earthquake was only a small part (9.0 >>small o.O...that indicates how bad all this is), the trigger. The tsunami alone devastated entire cities...houses floating like lego pieces, and now the radiation problem. It just goes on. And this radiation problem is really terrifying, that will affect them for years, decades, or more... (9.0? News here didn't updated that -.-, but they're covering well the centrals situation ) |

This may be a bit off topic but it bothers me that Germany shut down some of their nuclear reactors. This doesn't make any sense what so ever. There won't be any earth quake or tsunami in europe. Noting changed for power plants in Europe. Just how is this connected to an earth quake on the opposite side of Earth? This only spreads panic. In other thoughts: I wonder how this will affect the airing of anime on japanese TV. Do you think they are going to cancel shows? I'd really like to know just how much of Japan has been affected. Anyone have a map of the flooded area? |

@packet Yea, I heard that Merkel announced nuclear policy moratorium, she said sth about reevaluating nuclear safety. I guess the decision is party due to panic, but then again it's not completely unjustified. Some of those plants are fairly old and I'm guessing they're nowhere near prepared to cope with natural disasters as Japanese ones were (yet we saw even that wasn't enough). I saw on the news yesterday there were even some protest with people demanding that the nuclear plants in Germany be shut. Also, one can never tell what may happen even here in Europe. We prolly won't have to worry about tsunamis, but it's not true there are no earthquakes, just in last 30 days there's been 11 earthquakes of magnitude > 4.0. I'll agree that Germany is not the most seismically active area, but some other European countries like Greece and Turkey are. Here's a seismic monitor of the world if someone's interested: http://www.iris.edu/seismon/ |

Not to skip out of the donation talk here, but the flow of constant Japanese media will still keep their consistency right? What I worry most is the life lines: water, food, energy Supplies need to be restored asap. Some cases of looting are reported but not chaotic. Northeastern area had requested fuel supply recently as there's not enough gasoline. Disaster area will have cold weather. They are reminded to keep themselves warm. Dead bodies are also accumulating. It's been announced that once they have collected DNA samples and photos, they need to be burnt even if they are not id by relatives. Possibilities that the whole family being killed are taken into consideration. Currently, the 6 reactors are all unstable. 1-2 are in partial melt-down, 3 is heavily damaged. 4 caught fires. 5-6 are also having rising temperatures. The reactors will remain unstable for a long while unless they establish an effective cooling system. Normally, it needs to be cooled for a few months even if they have a working one. But they all failed due to tsunami. GE US is sending 10 generators to them by air. Hopefully that can help. |
