| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- This is a new serialized story that started in the March 2011 issue of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. The story is by: Kaneshiro Muneyuki The art is by: Fujimura Akegi The first chapter is one pages 5 - 68. There are three color pages to start. (I've submitted a scan of the color title page for the illo on the story listing here.) There is a lot of horror, action, blood and death in the first chapter. And it looks as if it will only increase from here. The artwork is quite good and rather gritty. The writing is reasonably good. To an extent it is almost as if the author is setting this up to easily become an anime at some point. The best way I can describe the "feeling" of the first chapter is as a cross between "High School of the Dead" and the movie "Battle Royale", but without zombies or neck collar bombs. There seems to be some good potential here. It will be interesting to see where it goes. |

| I wasn't expecting that when I picked this manga up. I'll continue out of curiosity to see if they can sustain an entire manga with such a simple concept. |

| The art style is clean, but I'm not so sure about this first chapter. Lots of action for certain, but the sequence of events is a bit of a mess. The characters are also... Well, they did stupid things. |

| The main reason I started this manga is because I watched the live-action movie and I absolutely loved it. It's pretty hard to not make comparisons between the two but so far, it looks like the movie had vastly improved from its source material. I was surprised that there weren't any marbles when everyone's heads blew up like in the movie, to be honest. It made things so surreal and it was so strange that I figured that something like this must've come straight from the manga. |
