| To be honest, I was pretty happy with how Kishimoto handled that here. On one level, Land of Waves was a pretty strong 'starting' arc, and a nostalgic one for sure, so just seeing the flashbacks again was nice but I liked that the fight kinda built off that nostalgia. Kakashi's anger (which is touching and cool to see) translates to the audience's own connection to the characters too, and how they're be used here after they're previous demise. I liked how that flashback after the missing too, and supplanting Kakashi's answer over the finishing (and only I guess) blow was a classic decision. Having them have to suffer through the actions of their death again. Probably my favorite bit was the blood tears. Using the blood to make them cry is a good enough touch, if a bit cheesy, but the piece I really like about this is how it's the others weapons providing the blood/tears. It's Zabuza's sword that provides Haku's and Haku's mirror's that provides Zabuza, illustrating the intrinsic link between the two, and how the pain of witnessing the others "death"/manipulation and being forced to continue in this fight. I'm also glad this was quick, make the point then move on, that's how it should be. No need to linger. Looking forward to seeing Gaara in action. |
