After the epic fail of Iron Man, I'm really hesitant to take up this title.. But I'll give it a chance since Logan's new style really clicks with me..

Good first episode, I'm crossing my fingers that Madhouse won't make the same mistake twice.. >.<

Just like belatkuro said I'll follow this collaboration until the end.
I agree that seeing Wolvie as a skinny character is weird, but aside that I actually liked this episode. The romance was ok to me since he always flirts with ladies and Mariko was, well you know who she was. I can see where its heading if its following the comics.
I'm curious to see if they will bring Silver Samurai. Also I think the woman from the next episode is

Wow, +1 to this

At least was better that the CG iron crap, but meh, i don't respect anymore madhouse for show us such atrocity as iron man

logan was allways in love with someon
X-men ( The american cartoon fron 90's ) Was Yoriko a japanese woman and jean grey and Storm ( The alter future history )

X-men ( The live action movie ) Was Jean grey
wolverine Origins was Kayla Silverfox

So dont say "WTF with this love story", Do a bit of research before talk nonsense

Now after wolverine is comming X-men ( From mad house too *sigh* ) i touch wood for a good wolverine ep's

I actually enjoyed this episode and might stick with it 2 or 3 more episodes (dropped Iron Man after first).

As for the romance, throughout Wolverines history (comics, animated series) there has always been love interests lie Black Cat, Elektra, Jean Grey, Rogue, Silverfox, Storm, Mariko, and even Mystique.

The art was good (not great), but it could be worse. Story was so-so but entertaining for an original Wolverine story (it sure is better than the Wolvering Movie).

I watched it expecting to be as horrible as Iron Man was.

...It's surprisingly good. First episode deserves a 8/10.

I didn't think Iron Man was that much of a failure, but it never really had those "Oh, this is turning interesting/awesome" or an interesting plot. The basic premise of Wolverine doesn't hype me up either, but the whole mafia thing plus the AIM thing plus awesome action scenes plus crazy sword skills equals a potentially entertaining series. Well, I said Iron Man wasn't a complete failure, but if Wolverine follows the same road to a "just nice" anime, bye bye. I have better things to do right now :P

Oh wow, I actually enjoyed that.

I was going to pass it up because of Iron Man, but I read the comments and they seemed generally approving in comparison. I can't say it is great, but it sure has hell is a lot better than Iron Man so far.

Strange, considering just how many romance plots he has had(and considering the love triangle between Jean Grey, Scott and Logan is one of the key points of x-men incarnation.)

Way to milk the cow, Mr. Lee.

*drops*

Erm...always? Let's see, one of his romance plots ended tragiacally(and has consequences even in the present time) and that was pretty much when he was still learning his way of stuff (his first stay on japan)

His second stay in japan, which is what we are seeing now, will go no better than that if they follow the comic books.

Afterward, pretty much every, EVERY romance he has got would get a bad end, even the would-be romances like Jean Grey.

you DO know that there was ANOTHER trailer released afterward, right? Like, the one in which we learnt that this anime is adapting the Frank Miller's "Wolverine" mini series?

Someone needs to learn on some comic book history and certain "Wolverine" miniseries that this anime is adapting.

Well, author of "this anime" had nothing to do with that. James Howlett is the name Logan was given by his parents, wealthy canadian farmers, when he was born. "Logan" is the name he adapted during his stay in the mining colony. SO yes, his real name was and always will be James Howlett.

Seriously....the amount of ignorance and claims of "being fan of character" while not knowing the character himself are...startling almost in the same way as reading comments about Green Lantern Trailer with half of them being the ignorant stuff like "why isn't he black dude?".

AS for anime, exctly what I expected 4/5 for episode, 3/5 for animation, 5/5 for continuity nods and keeping faithful to the characters.

Thank you. Looks like theres one ACTUAL comic book fan other than myself.
These stupid people only watch the movies and maybe the cartoons and act like they know anything about wolverine.
I didnt know know it was based off of Frank Miller's Wolverine but now that i know that, im pretty excited.
I liked the first episode. Wolverine character was a great adaptation. I was expecting the character to get ruined but hes pretty spot on. Im waiting for the classic cigar XD
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GO WOLVERINE!!!!
My only problem is overuse of the name Logan. Every five seconds someone says Logan.

I just can't seem to get into this show, but I didn't really notice anything wrong with it. The second half of the episode was pretty interesting, but I find it hard to sit through it, I always want to skip through parts.

This isn't Wolverine, this is a bad copy of him. At least the action was kind of good. Don't know if I'm going to continue. Next episode will decide that.

Wasn't great, but wasn't bad.

Maybe you should take a good hard look at posts 62 and 64. They are able to expand on the fact this is Wolverine. I may not be a comic reader like those two, but even I know enough about the history of the character to know this is him.

Same thing with Iron Man really. People kept complaining that it wasn't Iron Man, but people were pulling facts from canon and relating it to the history of the character. On the other hand, though I haven't quite finished Iron Man yet, I do have to agree with others that this is way much bette.

Anyways... I find it ironic that Iron Man, which everyone was going yay for before it was released go such a bad reception from the watchers while Wolverine, which people kept saying, oh my gosh, this isn't him is getting a better reception. It is kind of funny.

I was really hoping it'd be good and had been itching to see it since I like X-men but like most of you I was disappointed. But I didn't think it was that bad.

Aside from
, I didn' think the new face structure fit well with the side burns, he didn't look right to me. Also, I hated his voice and the story is crap so far.

The show kind of has a late 80's, early 90's cartoon feel to it; like teenage mutant ninja turtles, except tmnt was good.

Wow, I guess I didn't like it more than I thought I did or didn't, whatever. The only thing that'll save this for me is guest appearances.

His voice is already low and his scream and rage sounds close to voice actors of wolverine in other animations, how low do you want it to be? Dont tell me you expect Wolverine to sound like some teenage mutant punk voice..

Besides i think Wolverine looks now resemble like Hugh Jackman with a little anime spice and less emo and grumpiness compare to the original.. seriously i havent seen some bloody brutal man handling action in animes since like almost forever.. its freakin refreshing if you knew what anime standards are about..

And yes the show has that "80's feeling" because its adapting a comic book miniseries relreased in 1982

For the haters: Mariko Yashida. Look at the entry, the character and romance involving Wolverine has been an integral part of the character FOR OVER 30 YEARS. There has always been romance in Wolverine stories. Get over it. This is actually one Marvel character that is actually appropriate in a Japanese setting.

Moreover, this is the first animation I've seen Wolverine in where people actually bleed and die. Close to 20 years of watching kiddified Wolverine, this is quite refreshing.

First there is no need to be rude we are all stating opinions here, of which we are entitled to have our own but since you asked...

No I certainly did not think he would sound like a teenage mutant ninja punk voice--only that the animation looks like one from that era and I'm not talking anime from that time. I mean american cartoon animation. I think Logan should have a deep voice but this one seems forced--like the seiyu doesn't normally have a deep voice. The scream and rage were fine but it is his regular talking voice that I have a problem with. Also I don't think it fits with the new character design. As far as anime standards go... If your not a professional in the industry, which I suspect is the case, then your really not qualified to knock someone else's opinion on one episode of one series. Standards change all the time.

That's interesting, I didn't know that(the adaption/father). I thought there was something with that girl...In an episode of one of the X-men series there was a brief part with a woman in a kimono as a love interest for Logan but it didn't do anything with that(it was more of a flashback, I think). Do you know if this is the story with that woman or something entirely different. I just came across a huge box of comics, I should check for this.

There were at least three or four japanese women in wolverine's life.

There was Atsuko who got murdered.

Then there was Itsu, with whom he lived for quite some time and had a son, Daken. She was murdered too.

Then there was Mariko.

The woman in flashback was most likely Itsu.

Wolverine had many love interests, main known and important ones being Mariko, Itsu and Jean Grey.

I think Iron Man was better than Wolverine though both seem decent enough.

What i don't get is what is Marvel trying to accomplish here. Even if the japanese like all of these adaptations, they are a whole different thing.

Meh, i don't get it. Hopefully next 2 adaptions will be better.

Excellent point. Even in the American movies Wolverine doesn't really make people bleed.

Not that Wolverine is an outstanding show, but I think it's probably better than Iron Man.

Will she exist in your marvel world when you see the next Wolverine movie which will be an adaption of the same mini-series this anime is based on?

I didn't have any expectations coming into this, so this series was actually a pleasant surprise. Not going to say it'll be the best anime this season, but it's sure going to be something at least alright and worth watching.

Silver Smaurai might be possible, since Wolverine currently is just fought against

If someone had bothered to read some of the earlier posts, not to mention later ones, one would have found out it does in fact fit intul the multiverse of Marvel comics. Actually, due to the fact that Marvel has so many multiverses, I wonder why so many people complain. Oh well.

Have you read any old Wolvi comics? Mariko and her father Shingen, and this whole story is all from "your" Marvel Universe.

Do the research b4 you talk crap!

Way better than Iron Man, I almost didn't even watch it.

But, I'm glad I did!

The action/fighting is amazing...especially the Kendo match...it's nice to see Wolvi get pwnd once in a while.

Not a huge fan of the character design, but I figured they would keep it the same a Iron Man.

I'm sure Blade/X-Men will have the same art style as well.
That way, they can tie them all in together.

I think I'll probably watch this one.
Though I"m already watching way too many shows of the season.

Urahara Out!!

Good stuff. I was hoping they would continue (or at least build upon somewhat) Logan's storylines in Japan. It seemed like the logical thing, but you never know.

Thankfully, they haven't toned the violence down.

Quite impressed with the quality of this ep, the animation, particularly the action sequences, where amazing. Not sure how to feel about Logan looking burnt when he heals. The detailing on his teeth looked too much as well, plus his sideburns are like AN INCH FROM HIS EYE (!?) but yeah, as a Wolverine fan I have high hopes for this.

Marvel is giving it another chance at produccing anime. Ironman to me was a train wreck from the start, it felt like they created a story with Tony Stark in it not the other way around but anyways... Wolverine. So far I like what I see, the animation looks nice with a old school touch. Soundtrack is meh and the story is not bad at all. I mean sure tragic love stories are not original but Wolverine from the comic is caught up in it too.
