Maybe if I'm lucky, a kind moderator could merge this topic into the other one? Kind of a silly question to ask, but what do you guys think about listening to video game soundtracks in general? What I mean to say is, would you listen to them like you would normal music? I feel kinda embarassed if I have to explain to someone "Oh, yeah. . . this song is actually from this video game I play." |
| Ah, it's no biggie, especially with the search function on the fritz. I suppose it is a bit difficult to listen to them outside of the context of the game. I mean, without conjuring up memories of the game and such, especially with something like, for example, the opera scene in Final Fantasy VI. My two favorite soundtracks, Interstate '76 and Outcast, probably fare the best without the context, and I think that's partly why I like them most, because they're not completely tied to the game experience.. if that makes sense. I can listen to them more like I would normal music, as you say. |

I tend to listen to more remixed songs than the originals. However I will listen to the OSTs like I would other albums. Sadly, aside from download, I don't know if any are in stores unless you import or preorder the games (even then it's just a sample cd). Atlus loves to give us the soundtrack when you buy thier games though so that's nice of them. ^_^ |

| For some reason I was always more fond on listening the melodies and background music that the vocals even when I was little. The first games that I played had some unique charm to it, especially Robert Holmes' work on the Gabriel Knight trilogy and his opera ''Der Fluch des Engelhart'' for the second game was amazing. I also love the TLJ and Dreamfall: TLJ soundtracks, plus FFVI and FFVII. Oh, and Monkey Island! :D |

Aye, but is the 2CD set you're speaking of Imaginarium? If so, it actually includes three soundtracks (Neverhood, Skullmonkeys, and Boombots). Think I've already mentioned it, but the Neverhood soundtrack specifically is one of my faves. |

| Persona 3 was fun. As was The World Ends With You. The soundtracks for those were both very cool, and kind of similar. The Final Fantasy X soundtrack is still my favorite though. The music was just so beautiful. I could probably listen to the Zandarkand theme forever - it never gets old. Special mention to the Kingdom Hearts series too. The only thing I didn't like about those was the battle music that played way too frequently. |
| Nobuo Oeamatsu is top notch as far as music is concrned.The music from all FF's is memorable and I especially liked FFX's theme of Zanankard and Tidus.It's just so good. |
