THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

The rip is raw, but that was really fun. I just hope they get to make more episodes.
The animation was decent enough. The action and the soundtrack were pretty good especially if you're into metal.

I loved it.

Forgive my ignorance but why does MAL say this hasn't aired yet when the first episode is already out?

Does anyone know if this is going to be like a standalone series or do I need to watch the series before it to get the whole picture?

Holy fucking shit! That was pure awesomeness! Absolutely loved this first episode.
I think my only complain, was that this was just 27 mins and there's only 2 episodes left =P

It's something like alternate universe. Knowledge of previous series will only enable you to appreciate mecha designs and characters more.

It was a limited release that came with the toy. Plus it's the dvd of episode 1. The standard release in late January will include blue ray as well.

This episode was made of GAR, familiar mecha design, violence and awesomeness. I can't get enough of Mazin- titles :)

that was awesome! But it didn't give me two good minutes to breathe! I liked how one of the guys was saying that the rocket punches were great, but he hates having to wait fort them to come back. Meanwhile, robots are blowing up all around them. XD

GAAAARRRRR!!!!

Awesome, I've been wanting to check out a Mazinger series for a while, and I'm glad I did.

Well, except now I'll just wanna add another heap of shows/movies to my "to watch" list :/

Definitely looking forward to more of this!

Urahara Out!!

She's alive in the raw manga (Mazinkaiser SKL Versus), and she's indeed pretty awesome in it.

you're an idiot because you don't know what ovas are. they're ORIGINAL VIDEO ANIMATION that unlike TV series, they do not air on TV and go straight to home release. it's also because you have to pay a lot of dough to get a decent timeslot to air your stuff. Nothing says that they should have higher production values or are expected to, and in SKL's case, they don't have the money for a full tv series. And I don't know about you, but even with all the money in the world, John Woo's Red Cliff was pretty bad.

look here a butt hurt fan lol judging others because their anime has been criticized what a looser fans like you are the reason for the bad impression the anime lovers are getting

anyway dont elaborate john woo style because its just an example of choreography
OVA are generally well made than TV series because like you already mention they are not gonna pay for TV cost airings

look at Diebuster OVA and GaoGaiGar Final OVA those have better animation than this divine anime your protecting lol

ive watch this show because of comments like yours that think this is the best thing that happens to animation but look what it got? it has looser animation compared to even TV series like Escaflowne or Gun X Sword just never mind Gurren Lagann because thats overkill of a comparison on how mecha fighting scenes should be and ho how about Gundam Unicorn OVA? thats OVA too you know

Your grammar is horrible and your comparison with other shows aren't any better.

duh im not a english native speaker you know and getting so low to the point of personal attack arent we? lol such hostility your just imitating this shows violence

Mechablitz said:

All of the stuff you mentioned are Sunrise and Gainax productions. You're pretty much an idiot if you seriously expect SKL, an anime from a small studio with little funding to have better production values than Gundam Unicorn which is by far the LARGEST mecha franchise in anime history and has the backing of Sunrise. That studio got like what, four fucking studios in one.

well im not gonna go to your level of personal attack as though you totally know me im just gonna remind you that Mazinkaizer and Mazinger is like a franchise like Gundam and Macross so go figure out if Mazinkaiser is not selling well they are just cheap thats all

and mind you im not totally saying this anime is crap look at my first post im saying it could have been much better

so stop barking already your looking like a hostile dog barking rather than a good fan

Well that escalated quickly...

The Kaiser mecha design looks pretty sick. I like this Tsubasa Yuki girl though. She looks like a tomboy but is pretty tough based on her actions and experience.

Epic. Well, whatever the hell Kiba is...is taken down now.

Shit's real!

Giant sword-wielding skull-headed mecha with flying fists tearing apart other mecha in a hyperviolent melee. What's not to love?

Jesus, this was hype as fuck. Loved everything about it even though the story seems kinda weak right now but it's only 3 parts so doubt that would blow me away anyways but the rest is really damn good.

This is just pure fun! Some super action scenes, music and motherfucking mechas. Too bad this show has only 3 episodes.

Mindless action hardly worthy of an OAV. Nothing to do with Mazinger/Mazinkaiser apart from some inspired robot design...

First and foremost, those two constantly angry beautiful boys seem to come straight out of some lost 2000s trendy manga/anime.

1/5 I first believed that this Kaiser Skull didn't even have rocket punches.
