If anyone ever makes past the very poor anime BL pickings, I just point them to some talented mangaka, like est em, Yamashita Tomoko, Ono Natsume, etc... Nakamura Shungiku is frankly not even in the same class. But she sells. So whatever. |
| I'm not bothered by the fact that you dislike the work of Nakamura Shungiku. I believe I started by previous post by quoting the exact part I disliked. I completely agree that there are better authors than Nakamura Shungiku, and they don't need to make use of the rape-leads-to-love factor, buuuuuut I also like the type Nakamura Shungiku writes, for a light reading. Yes, there are a lot of better authors. IMO, there is way too much stupid stuff being made into anime these days, but I can understand that some people like things which I consider stupid/idiotic. Doesn't mean I have to go and act all high and mighty about it, and make snide remarks about the nature of their tastes. |
| Not that I really need to add this, but most manga and anime, of all genres, really is trash. And if most BL wasn't of such a low caliber, I wouldn't hold it to such a low standard. Why do I still read it even though it's mostly compiled of trash? Because of the talented mangaka you mentioned and because I want to be entertained. It doesn't have to be HOLY SHITFUCK AMAZING to be entertaining. And her work is entertaining. End of story. But it's cool though. You like what you like. And I feel kind of hypocritical getting on your case about disliking someone. Because yaoi really isn't srsbsns to me and it never will be. |

Stop trying to point little fingers at my response "tone" (new to the internet?) and get back on the actual topic. We actually have forum mods now for that kind of thing~ Like how--sure, a lot of bad things are being made into anime, but there's also a lot of stagnant material and complacency. We already have a lot of JR. We really need more from her? Some people are going to feel like they had enough already for any genre if things are played out too much and too close to the "mold." Any news topic here will show that for anything with a generic description. But since the manga makes it on the top-seller charts sometimes and JR sold some DVDs, we'll get more of the same old stuff. It's not helping all these people who run from BL anime, including those of us who read it. Actually, it's hard to care anymore about her than this.. she's just not worth it to me. |

"all BL is trash" doesn't excuse nakamura shungiku from writing trash. besides, that's wrong - it's not all trash. sure, the popular stuff is generic, pandering garbage, but that's true for every medium: the existence of the twilight series does not negate the masterpiece of dracula, for example. there's great, well-written yaoi and bl out there, but you're not going to see it if you just read the bestsellers. fumi yoshinaga, motherfucker, do you read it? yes, i watched junjou romantica, but i watched it for the PORN. and you don't see anybody singing the praises of the cinematic masterpieces that are kiss x sis and boku no pico. |

| Nakamura Shungiku is ridiculously lucky. She gets yet another series, when there are numerous, I mean overwhelmingly numerous BL manga that are way better than this. Meh, good for her, I guess. |

| I really like that anime, but it's a little bit lame that it's so similiar with Junjou Romantica. It's also boring, that they also work in a publishing company, those two guys are related in their past, and that younger guy is like Misaki and the other one is like Akihiko (angry, grumpy, smoker, in a higher possition).. |
