According to Mainichi News, a 46 year old woman, who had been arrested for threatening an elementary school, confessed that she had also sent a kitchen knife to seiyu Hayami Show's house. Police will re-arrest her for that crime. The woman is an anime fan and one of the members of Hayami's fan club. Hayami has been receiving threatening letters to cancel his show for these four years and Tokyo metropolican police is investigating her involvement in the case.

Luckily she just sent the knife to his house, not go to his house personally with it.

But the title is misleading. She got arrested for threatening a school and then she admitted to sending the knife. She wasn't arrested for sending the knife

It's a thinly veiled threat. And the messages it sends are:

a) I have weapons
b) I know where you stay
c) It's not wise to piss me off

Now what show exactly do they want cancelled?

She was re-arrested for sending the knife, her original crime wasn't that at all. And the only reason she was arrested is because she confessed... Stupid people are stupid, I guess...

Yeah, it only takes a couple of bad apples to spoil the bunch.

Must be frightening to have a hardcore fan know where you live and is pissed off at you.

What.

That's ridiculous. There are extreme fans or just psychos in every fandom, or indeed, every part of life, regardless of what happens. She isn't representative of what the anime fandom is like at all, nor are any of the other fans who are obsessive to the point of psychotic behaviour in any other fandom. Anyone who thinks that the most extreme fans of something are the most representative of all of that work's fans is a complete imbecile, regardless of what certain news reports, websites or places like to sensationalise.

I was confused at first, too. XD But 'Show' is part of his name xDD My dictionary says the Kanji for this word is read 'shou' (Not like I expected the Japanese language to contain a 'w' xD), but it's still the same pronunciation.

Exactly. I love that everyone is jumping to the conclusion that see sent him cutlery and that automatically makes her the person who was trying to get him to canceled. If she was a hardcore fan wouldn't she be more likely to be threatening someone if they were going to take him off the air?

We have no idea what was sent with the knife. Or if there was some kind of inside joke form one of his roles? Or if she was in fact doing something wrong at all.

For all we know this poor woman's life and reputation is completely ruined because she sent him something reflecting one of his roles to show that she was a fan of that role, having no clue that he was receiving threats this whole time.

...In other words, don't be so quick to drop the axe until you know all the facts or you may condemn many innocent people to death. >.>

Maybe she's just a lonely sad 40 year old (otaku) virgin, and all she needed was a companion cube. But, she incinerated it. Plus, she found out the cake was a lie, and realized that anime isnt real. So she had a mini freak out, and threatened an elementray school and mailed a knife to her dream man, hoping he would bake her a cake, thus proving the cake wasn't a lie..and that he would suddenly become a 2D animated character..and have many many 2D babies with her. Bishie babies. Proving anime to be real.
BUT the police saw she was a threat, and only later did thet realize that she was just nuts..and needed to put her in a 'special' cell.
