GONZO To Produce New TV Anime With Murata Range

According to the letter to the stock holders, GONZO's new TV anime will be aired next year. Murata Range will design the original character concepts.

this could be what gonzo needs to bring them back or the final nail in the coffin...we will see.

Hopefully they've sacked all the staff that made them produce the crap of the last 3-4 years and we see good Gonzo again.

So, it's a TV series after all. Thought it's going to be a movie when the rumors started circulating a few months ago.

Hopefully this time they'll make a worthy comeback to resemble even a fraction of their glory days. Range Murata is enough to get me on board, so that's a start.

Oh, this is surprising I thought Gonzo is dead for the time being but I'm kind of glad they aren't.

Well, I'm not expecting anything from Gonzo by now. Except maybe Saki season 2.

Because 60% of what they do plain sucks, 30% is bearable and the remaining 10% is good. /fact

Because there's a lot of ignorant people with no taste in this world. Most of them are either elitist jerks or little kids who want to act like elitist jerks (which are pretty much equal things since both categories know nothing of anime whatsoever).


^That's one of those ignorant people. Look, this person saw only 8 out of ~60 anime Gonzo made (slightly more than 10%), and he talks like he watched them all.

Gonzo has some good anime in their records, but overall, it's a subpar studio. Deal with it, SS.

Lawl, yeah, I'm ignorant. I also pull ideas straight out my ass, much like Gonzo. Glad you wasted your time searching through my list for Gonzo titles though.

Well I've seen about half of Gonzo's anime and apart from a few notable series (e.g. Full Metal Panic, Gankutsuou, Seto no Hanayome, Welcome to the NHK!, etc.), the majority of them tend to suck. They're also notorious for their consistently poor choices in animation (mecha 3D CGI) and fan pandering, so it's no surprise people just don't like Gonzo, even only after trying a small taste of what they have to offer.

On a personal note, I pretty much gave up on Gonzo after watching the abomination known as Kurogane no Linebarrels. Of course I'll go back and watch some of Gonzo's better shows, I've yet to see, but I doubt I'll even waste my time with this new series.

If it is the quality of Shangri-La only with a much better ending, this should be good. Gonzo is one of the most bi-polar companies I swear, either it rocks(Vandread, Last Exile, Full Metal Panic, Speed Grapher) or suck(Witchblade, Final Fantasy Unlimited, Linebarrels of Iron). So I will be cautiously optimistic.

Range Murata is one of my favourite artist, this is good news! :)

Gonzo is pretty much a shell of it's former self like the Earth Federation in UC 0153 (they lost Strike Witches for crying out loud), I doubt this will make them get back on their feet but it's a nice try and this could be a good anime.

Not only Strike Witches. Don't forget that Saki sold very good too but they don;'t get much from it cause sold rights in the middle of the series airing.

But I knew that they are not dead. They made some staff for new games last months so, probably they earn some money to make new series now

Gonzo didn't completely lost Strike Witches though. They are still part of it's production staff, though they are indeed no longer the main producers.

I think a lot of the hate is just people going with the opinion of the elite rabble. Even though they are indeed not as good as in the past, they still produce decent stuff now and then and there are much worse studios out there. I dare say the Gonzo hate is nothing more than a stupid meme by now, hence the LOLGONZO comments you always find when someone talks about their anime shows.

I would've been excited about this news if Shangri-La didn't suck like it did. I don't know why an artist as talented as Murata bothers with a company that hasn't produced anything good since Gankutsuou; I would love to see Mad House or Production I.G hire him.

The only thing that I'll look forward to is whatever artbook that Murata will release based on this series.

They did Gantz and I give them my respect for that.
