Seeing as everyone on the internet comes from a different locale and local bands often get overlooked on the national level, I thought it would be neat if we could share some favorites, specific to our region. A link to where we might hear a song or two would be preferable (MySpace music pages are wonderful for this).

Now I live in Minnesota and (around here at least) Minneapolis is known for its music scene. I don't get the opportunity to go to many shows (location, money), but I try to keep exposed to what is out there.

So here are a few from me:

Sick of Sarah - An all female band which I find enjoyable, maybe you will too.

Cloud Cult - I don't know how to describe Cloud Cult... but I love them. Ethereal maybe. Popular enough to get radio play on a public radio station that plays alternative music 24/7.

My Lady Four - A band that I learned about by meeting their singer in a Starbucks (he worked the counter at the time). Not exactly my type of music, but decent enough.

I know that everyone has a different preference, but that is half the fun. Share what you've got. =)

Bandits in the Woods

They're probably my favorite local act. Most of the local bands I've seen over the past few years really didn't impress me, but this one actually has a solid foundation to their music. They mix funk and R&B with an art rock mindset. Their Lady Disc EP is especially good.

This is the band my friends are playing in:
Nomega(Romanian)
I would describe them as stoner metal/sludge, with a bit of noise and a dash pf psychedelic.

The band's musical style is inspired by the retro sounds of the 70s.
