When you first joined this site, how did you remember all the anime you watched?

I've been watching anime for 5+ years, but only recently joined the site. I can't seem to remember all the series' I've watched before. I mean, if I saw it, I would remember it, but I can only recall 30ish right now, but I know for sure that there are waaaay more I've seen.

So my question is, how the heck am I supposed to remember the animes I've watched years ago?

Over time, you'll remember them...unless you have a crappy memory, unlike myself ^_-

I had a list before adding it on MAL. But I have series where I've no idea if I completed it or not. Like seasons in pokemon, digimon, dbz, db, inuyasha, hell gundam seed, etc. The list I had was all the anime I've seen in fansubs. The ones where I'm not sure, are all the ones on TV, where sometimes it's not even airing in chronological order. I just end up not putting that in.

I know for movies, where I never had a list, I had no idea what I was adding on IMDB. I just gave that up after 20 movies or so.

I actually remembered a ton of old stuff I watched thanks to this site. I just browse around other people's lists and clicking on strange names that seem vaguely familiar.

I really...
don't remember them. My list should be larger than it is, but I can't recall all of them.

I used to have a .txt document of all the anime I watched, so it was a piece of cake for me.

I mentally recalled them. There were some which I didn't initially remember, so I only added them to my list later on. Come to think of it, there might be a couple more which have completely slipped my mind.

I added all I could remember at first which was missing quite a few. All else came to mind over the course of months as I used the site/talked with friends/read other peoples lists/etc.

I got bored at school one day and decided to make a list of all the ones I could remember in one of my notebooks. Once I found this site I just added the ones from my notebook then went through the entire list of anime shows to find ones that I might have forgot.

Sit, think about it a while... I copied some from a pre-existing list I had added to over the previous year on another site. But the easiest way for me is read the forums/browse the anime lists and if it looks familiar you'll remember it.

And if it looks good enough give it another view. Anime is best re-watched when you cant remember much if anything of what goes on in it.

I went through the list that myanimelist had of anime, and picked out the ones I had watched. Im really weird in that I don't have a hard time remembering a story once Ive read/watched it. It's the same way with books. sometimes I have 3 or 4 books (or more) that Im reading at one time, but I never seem to lose track.

There are some anime that I know I havent finished that I couldnt tell you what ep I left off on exactly, but when I see a pic and a summary, I can go, "yeah, Ive seen that" or "no I havent" and at least know if I finished it and have a pretty good grasp on what happened with it.

Now if only I could remember where I left my keys, or what I walked into a room for.... -_-;;;;

I couldn't tell you if I had watched the full series or not on some of the anime that I have marked as stalled or dropped, but I mostly remember them from the synopisis that I've read, or I own the anime. This site has actually helped me realize what other anime I want to own!

I've been watching anime for close to 10 years, but I remembered I'd say most of what I've watched. I know I'm forgetting a bunch, but I'm fine for now. Every once in a while I'll come across a title I remembered I watched, and I'll add it.

Pretty much the same. After my first anime, I discovered MAL while looking up stuff about it and joined. I know I definitely wouldn't have watched as much if I hadn't joined MAL.

Most of the old anime I've watched are fandubs(which really sucked) most were replays/rewinds. I guess it's because of the recommendations and with the crappy memory I have. If I remember an anime that I've finished but haven't put in my list yet, well, I add them. Can't remember all of it though.

They'll come to you. I'm probably still missing a couple, but by now I think I got most of them. Look at other people's list and see if you left something out.

I went through all the anime titles in the Anime News Network Encyclopedia. I examined every anime title I had on CD, DVD, Tape and LD to see how far I watched up to (ones I wasn't sure about). I looked at my calendars from 1997-2001, 2003-2008 to see what I had listed as being watched that day. I looked through my folders of hand written anime episode summaries. I went through most of my anime postings that I did on all the message boards that were still up. I erased the episodes I couldn't verify seeing. Sometimes I thought I had seen the entire series, but an episode was missing so I couldn't verify and be sure about it. Those were cut out.

Figuring out the dates was more time consuming.

EDIT:

Oh...I forgot. I also went through my four e-mails looking for information.

When I joined MAL I had only been watching anime online for about a year or so so there were only around the 50-100 range of anime that I had to add so it wasn't all that hard. And overtime I remembered random little anime I had watched before so I added those on as well, so I guess that my list should be pretty accurate right now. xD

It comes back over time. You either get suggested something you have already watching or someone asks for a specific anime and that one comes to mind. However, I must admit most the anime I have seen has been categorized now, it is just an eventual process

added most of them right away though memory and those that slipped my mind i found by looking into recommendations from time to time. Other than that just picking off the small few that i forgot over time.

9/10 I have a wierd data bank type memory... I never forget a movie, a game, or anime. I've been known to see a clip of something for all but 10 seconds and know the name of a movie. I'm usually the go to guy for info on movies: "Hey, do you remember that one movie where such and such was doing this and this happened, what's the name?" Hell I had a minute of credits on a recorded movie one day that I watched about 20 times listening to the song just so I could remember what movie it was from, haha. It was 'Tears of the Sun'... Great movie btw.

It's cool, but it gets annoying sometimes. Especially, when I only have to watch something once and have it stored. People, I can remember a face but normally the name slips. When it comes to everything else... Meph! *le sigh* I have the worst memory.

I had lists on other sites, so when I joined this site it was a simple matter of just looking up everything on those lists. Plus what ever anime I download I usually burn to dvd. So even if I didn't have a list I can just look at the burnt dvds and the store bought dvds and try to remember what I seen on tv.

Fortunately for me I didn't watch that much anime before I found MAL. When I started to watch more of them I was only keeping track of series I was watching. Plan to watch I would just put a bunch on a Notepad document. And would remember and recall completed series as I added them to my list when I found MAL.

Most anime I watched before I never truly finished so I decided not to bother adding them unless I watched them fully. Thank you Cable TV for being so erratic when showing anime.

That said I do remember most of them so I may add them eventually. I usually remember all shows I've seen fully, or pretty far in.
