I added anything I could remember watching the previous year. I'm still adding anime I had seen before 2009, some only at rewatching since I forgot how many episodes I have seen.
That reminds me, I should add Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell already. Just don't know which year I watched them in.
Also I skipped most longer series since I don't know anymore what I missed and what I saw.

And on the edge of sanity I stumble and fall.

I had a small list as well as the actual process jogged my memory.

Though I forgot some of them of which I sometimes browse other people's lists and discover an anime I forgot to add.

I have been keeping a text file for many years and adding to it by date and episode every single time I sit down to watch something. So for example if I wanted to see what I was watching this week, say, eleven years ago, it would show this:

Tuesday, August 31, 1999
Maze 5
Brother Dear Brother 12
Rose of Versailles 7

Friday, September 3, 1999
Ranma S1-9
Hyper Police 2
Gasaraki 1
Trigun 1
Slayers Try 21

This is actually still my "main" method of keeping track of things and MAL is my "backup". For anything earlier than when I began to keep count, I just went down alphabetical lists of titles around the Internet seeing if any jogged my memory. Plus simply looking at the physical tapes and DVDs, of course.

I had a list as text file before i joined here so it was easy to just copy everything in here

I somewhat remembered and then when I searched for one anime I remember the others in the same timeslot, or that I also liked... I suppose I'm still missing some.

I remembered most of them, but surely I've forgot abot some. For example, I just logged in to add one I forgot about earlier. I think my list is like 90% finished at this time (I made my account few days earlier).

Oh, and there are also some titles I actually don't want to add to my list. I've watched them when I was like 5 or 6, don't remember them that much and surely, I would not watch them right now. Good example of it is "Mitsubachi Māya no bōken".

I had loads to remember but I recalled the vast majority (80 or so) at the time by looking at a streaming anime website and looking through their Index. The others I've remembered over time by having something jog my memory.

It was quite easy to recall them, seeing as they were about 6-7.

I made myself an super deluxe excel sheet with pictures, dates and all. Although i didn't knew all of the dates, most of them i did.

So after i while i found anime-planet, and a while after that myanimelist, so i had myself updated most of the time ^_^.

I just think of whatever I remembered over time. I think I started with merely 40 days worth of anime, then started watching regularly ever since I joined MAL.

I haven't remembered them all. xD But most of them I have. Just when I think of one I haven't posted, I then add it. Lol.

If I end up on a page where I remember watching the anime I just add it on, like just recently I ran into the first pokemon movie which I seen like a year after it actually came out but just added it 3 days ago.

When I found this site, it was after a few months that I began watching anime on regular basis, and I had watched only about 10 anime at the time. The trouble I had is remembering the exact start and end dates.

Exactly that.
I found anime that I had watched months after I joined.

through memory. which is bad. I knew that I've seen more and watched more. they just don't register that much especially if the series was forgettable.

also by sheer dedication I have to skim this site's list one by one from A to Z. it takes time though.

I spent three hours searching alphabetically through everything on the list, marking down anything I remembered having seen.

I managed to remember most of mine when I joined here. As for the ones I initially forgot, I would just randomly remember them. Looking through libraries on anime sites can help.

Over time, I remembered them. When I didn't remember, I often browsed around on other people's lists and I was like, 'Oh yeah! I remember watching that!' and proceeded to add it.

Also, I didn't watch that many animes when I first joined this site.

I joined My Anime List recently, and there are a bunch of animes that I don't remember watching.
Yesterday I was looking at someone's anime list and I realized that I have watched Uta~Kata, yet I don't even remember the plot.
And today I remembered that I watched Hayate the combat buttler, but i have no idea until what episode!
And I also realised that I have watched Noir, Gravion (don't remember if I watched the second season or not) and some other.
My biggest otaku phase was like three years ago, so...

I actually remembered a ton of old stuff I watched thanks to this site. I just browse around other people's lists and clicking on strange names that seem vaguely familiar.

Yeah - that's how I did it

I so get the feeling.
Today I was looking at someone's list and found out Trinity Blood.
I really liked that anime and I had completly forgotten about it. xD

I had been watching anime for less than a year back then - I think, so it wasn't that hard to remember titles.

Over time. I started out by scanning over my anime and manga collections, then thinking back to friends' stuff I've borrowed, stuff I've seen at cons, on TV, and the like.

Sometimes browsing others' lists have jarred my memory, or on a random occasion I'll remember something. I did make lists in the past but threw most of them away, but I think I'm pretty up-to-date now.

I just joined. I added what I had watched by going through the top anime/ manga lists. But I am still missing a few.
