| Higurashi is the better done adaption of the when they cry VN series, both animes were done well but higurashi was closer. But in VN form Uminekos better. Edit: and @junmisugi84 Agreed, but it should be Umineko Chriu VN > Umineko VN > Higurashi Kai VN > Higurashi VN and Higurashi Kai Anime > Higurashi Anime > Umineko Anime :P |

| Agreed, but, I like Higurashi anime first season better than Kai anime. Because it has Meakashi-hen!! xD And Onikakushi-hen and Tsumihoroboshi-hen (Even though Tsumihoroboshi-hen anime adaptation sucks.) And I love Tatarigoroshi-hen, too. And in overall, I like Question Arcs more than Answer Arcs. (Except Umineko. ^^) Because I like mysterious things. :) |

| This is a hard choice, I think I prefer Higurashi but that might be because I hadn't read the VNs when I first watched it. I don't hate umineko-anime as much as most people here. There is also the fact that umineko has only one season while Higurashi has two + OVAs. It's a bit unfair :P |

| Seeing that seacats probably won't get a second season I finally voted. For higurashi. The first higurashi anime was pretty shit too, I would say it's as bad as umineko. but Kai and Rei (ignoring the fanservice episodes) were pretty good. We don't talk about Kira. |

| Nah, Umineko anime mostly used VN music (core core > goldenslaughterer > core all the tiem). in Higurashi there are way better soundtracks, vocal arrangements and such. |

| That only means that VN itself had better music, not the anime. it also means that DEEN was too lazy to find someone to compose some good tracks/vocal arrangements instead of using the original BGM most of the time. For example in Little Busters, they didn't compose anything but opening/endings, in the end it turned into a boring show because OST didn't make any sense since they were composed for their respective scenes (and they perfectly fit in VN). it's the same as how Umineko VN OST didn't make sense in anime. Seriously they use Core where Battler was supposed to do a cool pose with Dread of the Grave behind. if you are gonna use Umineko vn bgm, at least use the correct one. Don't just randomly choose 3-4 bgm and randomly use it. i am mad at Studio DEEN way too much. Whatever. |

| Are they used in the anime? Yes. Then we can safely say "the anime had good music" too. I liked the usage of the bgms overall, if not all of them. On the other hand, its not like Higurashi anime has "oh so awesome" music. It only has 3 (or 4 at most) noticeable, -worth listening- tracks. Still, it is by Kawai Kenji so its not my place to bash it. Though they did make some nice changes for some of them. The animes don't have to be the exact same of their respective original material. People overall think otherwise but i do not understand that kind of thinking. |

| Watched Higurashi S1 and S2. (Didn't watch any other bonus/side/OVA stuff.) Watched Umineko S1. (Well there was only 1 season.) Higurashi S1 < Umineko S1 < Higurashi S2. Imo the 1st half of Umineko was better in VN. 2nd half might be better animated ... I don't know. At least in the novel I liked the 1st half more but didn't like it in the anime. (And the solution/answer arcs in Higurashi anime version felt interesting to watch.) Since I liked the mansion/island settign more the 1st season of Umineko is a bit better for me than 1st season of Higurashi. 2nd season Higurashi animated is best. |
