I started for sure when I was 13 with Sailor Moon and Digimon. (I stuck with these two for many years). Along with Yu-gi-oh and the Pokemon movies. And then got into Gundam Wing, Rurouni Kenshin and more when I hit college years.

Thats the same it was for me. Like many of us I watched DBZ and Gundam Wing when I was in like 1st grade. Would not consider myself an avid anime watcher until about a year and a half ago though (19 y.o.).

well i started to watch anime with i was 6, 7 +/- there. In brazil had a channel called TV Manchete, where has begun the new and big BOOM of animes and tokusatsus here, with Saint Seiya, Shurato, Yu Yu Hakusho, Jiraiya, Winspector, Cybercops, Ultraman. In 1993 +/-, the TV died, now is Rede TV,which is not shadow of the former channel.

But after many years, I've became otaku really when I won my pc, this i was 15 years and i was to search somethings of Captain Tsubasa, my favourite anime. So this all started. I was till manga translator and uploader of the main CT site in country.

I started watching Sailor Moon religiously at the age of 3 and DBZ shortly after. I have always been anime obsessed before actually knowing what anime was.

I watched Toonami so I was 11 then.

However, I didn't get really into anime until I was 19, so it's only been two years.

Um, I started anime when I was 12. I'm not going to say when I was about 5, because I had no idea it was even anime. xD But if that counts, then at 5.

I was 14 when I saw Vampire Hunter D, then started to watch Sailor Moon, and got into some manga at the comic book store. I also got the internet at the time (lol I feel old) so it was like the perfect storm.

I started watching fansubbed anime when I was 12, and didn't really get into it until I was around 13.

No. But most people are probably talking about when they started getting into fansubs,.

I probably started with My Neighbor Totoro when I was a child. My older sister would watch the movie over and over all the time and I'd end up watching it with her or something... I can't really remember.

I also watched Sailor Moon and, to some extent, Pokemon. I have neither of those on my list since I don't remember much about them nor did I ever actually finish either series.

I probably actually got "into" anime when the first Megaman: Battle Network game came out for the gameboy advance. When I saw Megaman NT Warrior on TV, I recorded it religiously whenever it came on and kept the VHS tapes. Eventually I found out that the Japanese version had some uncut material and was generally further along in the story than the dub, so I grabbed the series from Wolfpack Productions and watched all of EXE, Axess, the movie, and most of Beast since Stream wasn't subbed at the time.

At this point, I still didn't really regard much of it as 'Anime'. I didn't mind watching something in Japanese with subtitles, but it so happened that most of my video games at the time were Japanese in origin, and that I came across Oh My Goddess! in the library and rented it. I loved it and looked around for more information on the series, learned there was an anime, and started grabbing crappy .rmvb re-encodes that only came to about 50MB in size. I watched the whole series and loved it.

I started renting manga from the library. Just random series I came across but never finished since they didn't carry later volumes. I became engrossed in renting those funny backward books with black and white artwork. I had to rent them again after learning that I was reading them the wrong way until I finally saw one with instructions in the back.

I also joined a Rockman forum at one point and a user named DZ recommended Please Teacher! to me, and I recommended Ah! My Goddess to him. After that I was recommended more series from him, and my love for watching Japanese animation grew since it was so easy to get into and generally better than half the stuff on television.

I'm lucky to have a best friend in real life who grew into anime similar to me, with the Megaman Battle Network games sparking interest in watching the show on TV and us recording and watching shows we liked such as that, ranging from Kirby to Hamtaro until we discovered Anime on the internet.

Now that I'm older, well... I haven't exactly watched a plethora of anime compared to some people, but I'm down and gritty with my External Hard Drives being filled with better formats like .mkv and generally higher quality DVD/BluRay rips from Japan, or my shelves slowly being filled with the boxsets I've felt like buying from series I love and the occasional figure or two if it won't make my room look cluttered.

Well... I think I de-railed a little bit from how OLD I was when I started... But it felt good to type all of that.

My first anime, I believe, was either Akazukin Chacha, Dragon Ball, or B-Daman when I was just a little kid. 6 or 7, I think. I didn't know they were anime back then. I thought they were Chinese cartoons (since it was Chinese-dubbed in my country). Regardless, I really enjoyed them.

But I only got into it seriously only a year ago, when I found anime fans in my college. First Jigoku Shoujo, Clannad, and Gurren Lagann - streamed - then moving on to bigger cakes from then on - downloaded.

I watched my first anime when I was 2. =w= Astroboy and Doraemon.
But really, when I started to get addicted to it was when I was about 8-9.
Real addiction was 11. When I saw a yaoi doujin. >.>

Counting Pokemon/Digimon/Beyblade and stuff that aired dubbed on TV years ago, I was 3. (Because my sister was the biggest Pokemon fan you'd ever find, and wanted me to be one too. Guess it worked o3o)

But I really didn't start watching it subbed/realized it was Anime and not cartoons until I found Elfen Lied when I was 10. (Geez, a ten year old that loves naked girls killing everybody. Completely normal.)

Personally, I was 4 years old. :)) I think it was either Yu Yu Hakusho the Movie, or just plain Yu Yu Hakusho.
I can't believe neither my anime nor manga list is completely listed

If i don't count pokemon / dragonball etc 16, if i do count those (and all other anime) it's probably around 8.

Why is there no option for under 10 years of age? I was into anime since I was four years old, and I'm not exaggerating or anything. My parents got me into the hobby, and I never looked back since (though they probably regret it now).

They were the only sort of children's entertainment on TV where I lived in Asia back when I was 4-9, so around that time.
