According to Monthly Shonen GanGan September issue, a special extra chapter of Fullmetal Alchemist manga, "Hagaren Summer Time" will be published in the next issue to be released on September 11th. It's unknown that the side story will have more than one chapter although the announcement contains tantalizing comments like "It has returned!?" "It still continues!!".

Somehow, I don't think so... This mangaka is pretty rare in the major fanservice department and generally her extra chapters are pretty meaningful (The Blind Alchemist, Simple People, The Master, etc). I think it may be more epilouge or different characters pasts.
I will always want Moar. There is still so much to be explored within this setting, we could keep doing it until the new generation doesn't even remember ed, he'd be a tale their grandparents tell of or a legendary figure never seen. anyway, welcome news.
Admittedly this tale is complete, but there are still thousands more tales to be told within this setting. A direct sequel as in continuing where we left off with ed and al would be stupid, but let's be real, it's an amazing setting, events are still happening, and Arakawa has already created so many amazing and compelling characters that I would bet anything creating some new protagonists would be well within her ability. People are naysaying a sequel but I think once you've taken the time to establish a setting like this, letting it rot would be just wasteful.
