| I'm not too far in, but so far it hasn't disappointed. Yes, the story isn't as deep as previous entries (VII and VIII come to mind), but I honestly haven't really cared. I admit I love the occasional 60+ rpg epic, but I can't honestly say that's what I want when it comes to a handheld game. In terms of the audience and the technology, Level 5 did a superb job with this one. I'm not too terribly far, but I've enjoyed every second of DQ IX. But to each his own! There's always DQ X, right? :) |

| In all honesty, it's kind of what I expected from a game that deals heavily on customization and multiplayer. They are just testing the waters to see what works for the franchise. Though I do agree with you that it should have had a more involving plot. |

DQ games as of late have had pretty lengthy, involved plots (I assume since the SNES era games? I haven't played the remakes yet). I guess my stance comes from the fact that I expected a less involved story from the get-go. |
