According to Oguro Yuichiro (the chief editor of Anime Style magazine), a new original anime "Fractale" will be aired in Noitamina block from January 2011. The main producers are Yamamoto Yutaka, Okada Mari and an otaku critic Azuma Hiroki.
The story takes place in an island, where "Fractale System" is beginning to collapse. One day, Crane finds an injured girl Phryne under a cliff. She disappears leaving a pendant. Crane sets out for a journey with a girl-shaped avatar Nessa to look for Phryne and discovers the secret of Fractale System.
"Forged in darkness with wheat harvested from Hell's half acre. Baked by Beelzabub; slathered with mayonnaise beaten from the evil eggs of dark chickens, force-fed to dogs by the hands of a one-eyed madman. Cheese boiled from the rancid utters of fanged cows. Layered with 666 separate meats from an animal which has maggots for blood."
selective_yellow said: if it airs on Noitamina I'll watch, but I guess it is about time for Noitamina to release something crappy (as they've been releasing awesome stuff non-stop recently with the 1 hour time block).
But hey, could turn out good. :< Though the art style doesn't even seem that unique (already disappointed).
It's Yamano Yukata/A-1 Productions. Do you really expect originality from them, noitaminA or otherwise?
Unfortunately, I pledged to watch every noitaminA anime ever made at some point, so I'm going to watch this despite major reservations about the director. Oh well, he might be better at writing more serious plot than he is with comedy.
Hopefully, Ashura will be the other noitaminA show airing over the winter season to make up for this.
While it doesn't sound too original, it is the right sort of premise to either be amazing or crap. In other words, the premise hasn't limited the show, it sounds like a premise that could even be in a Miyazaki movie, or else it could be M. Night Shamalan's foray into anime. Who knows at this point? At least they've kept us guessing.
On noitaminA wikipedia page it says:
The timeslot is to be expanded from half an hour to a full hour in 2010, and will now air Thursday nights from 24:45 to 25:45. Fractale will be aired in noitamina, does that mean it will be an hour per episode show?
