I know this may sound very silly, but when I was little I always had this temptation to prank call the police. I never had the chance and thank goodness, I almost turned myself into the boy who cried for wolf.

So I want to know if any of you out there actually tried? If so what happened after?

Mmm.... I remember when I took a field trip to somewhere and me and my friends decided to call 911 for the heck of it. We used a payphone and when they picked up we hung up. :P I don't remember it too much.

I don't think I'll ever be bored or stupid enough to try and prank call the cops and if you ever want to do it, please be smart enough to not use your house phone or your friends phone. Do it from a pay phone.

Why would anyone prank call people who are here to protect and serve us?

Who in their right mind would do that? Even as a kid I knew better than to mess with the police/firestation/ambulance.

This reminds me of a funny story. I once dialed 12345678910, just to see what would happen. I didn't really think anything would happen or anything. However, much to my surprise, a weird sound started to ring. After that, a man with a deep voice answered "Hello? Who is it?". Obviously, I hung up immediately. But after a moment the phone rang, and I reluctantly answered. "Hello?". The same deep voice shouted at me "WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!" to which I hung up again and didn't answer the phone for a few days. :P

Ironically, police are not very different from criminals in some areas. They are undependable when you really need them.

My cousin and I were bored so we did. One policeman knocked on our door and my mom said nothing was wrong and he just gave us a warning. XD

I dialed some very random numbers on my phone as a kid. And the number ended up being the police. o.O Was strange since the number was way too long. So I just said "Sorry, wrong number"

Don't think that counts so I voted no.

Next you are going to say they respond to prank calls faster than emergency calls in those areas, aren't you?

When I was 5 or so I learned about 911. Then I tested it out.

Anyone doing more than that (ie: knowingly pranking 911) is irresponsibly putting lives at risk.

Well, a friend of mine once called his school for a bomb threat and the school then involved the cops. Luckily he did it from a phone booth xD

I accidentally dialed 911 when I was little. They came to my house and lectured me on why I shouldn't call 911, even though I didn't even mean to do it in the first place.

I never have, yet I've been the victim of a prank call.

My brother called them to mess around with them and we got in a lot of trouble. :/

When I was young I thought I'd be a genius and call America, so I dialled 911 - the "West-Midlands Police" picked up. I was so dissapointed.

No, but I have dialed 911 and hung up before when I was a young stupid kid. They called back. I told them I dialed by mistake.

I was hanging out with a couple of friends once and we ended up near a payphone. I went up to it and I was like, "Hey, I'm gonna call 911!" So I pressed the numbers in thinking, "Haha this won't work since I didn't pay." And then one of my friends is like "What the hell are you doing?" I responded by saying I didn't pay for it so it wouldn't do anything, and then hung up. He told me it would work even if I didn't pay for it since it's the police... We got the fuck out of there as quickly as we could.

I didn't really mean to, so I voted no.

Is that actually true that you can call the police from a pay phone without paying?

No.

One time, though, I was at my friend's house. We were screwing around and making prank calls, and we decided to scramble the last 4 digits in my phone number and call. We got some "Eagle Health Care" place and left a message. They called back the next day. Thank goodness I wasn't there for it.

I once tricked my sister into calling 911 and told her to hang up immediately after. About 30 minutes later, two police officers knocked on our door and I was immediately blamed.

No, considering I'm English and would call 999.
But enough of the sarcasm, still no, as I don't have the will power to be even the slightest bit evil and do that. Yay. :/
You're still the one that I love, the only one I dream of~

Yeah, my teacher once told me that Americans are giving Aussies too much influence. Without them, we're gonna get fucked sideways so thats the downer.

i did when i was like... 7. all i did was call them and hang up, so i guess it wasn't really a proper prank call...
they came to our house, and after seeing that nothing was wrong, sort of gave me and my brother (they figured it was one of us) a lecture on how you don't call the police unless something is serious, especially if you're just going to hang up because they don't know if you're in trouble or not.

I always wanted to (and still do) dial 999 just to know what happens when one DOES dial the police. But even to this day I don't have the courage.
