I saw the spoiler (about Spike dying) before I even started watching the anime, but it didn't really affect it all that much. Still really enjoyed this show, there were some episodes that weren't very entertaining but most were great and the series on the whole was pretty fantastic in my opinion. I also thought the ending was very fitting. Great final episode to a top-notch anime.

What an amazing series, I can't even think of words to describe just how perfect this series was. The way it was ended, with spike dying, was sad, but fitted it so well! Cowboy Bebop will forever be a master piece in my opinion!

It was pretty awesome ending, finally Spike's at peace... but still i hoped till last minute of credits that there will be some kind of ----- "Spike survived !!!" * Heavy metal* "what?" * Heavy metal* "can't hear yo" * Heavy metal* Spike>"urusai! 'am injured here ffs!" ------

Too bad they got no balls for sequel as i read somewhere. It would disturb perfect ending but in exchange for another 26 eps of awesomeness it seems reasonable bargain.
Damn those top anime are always too short , aren't they ?

I just rewatched Cowboy Bebop for the 5th time...the masterpiece of anime. I want to think Spike is still alive but the unknown makes the serie more epic if possible. I have never been of sequels, prequels neither side stories but if some day they make one about Cowboy Bebop, it would be one my happiest days of my life.

I refuse to believe that he is dead. The star is Vicious. That's what I think and I'm sticking to it. He wakes up all bandaged up in the Bebop and the good times keep rolling.
Let's go bowling.

I finally got around to watching the show and it was no less than breathtaking. The melancholic atmosphere throughout the whole episode was really something...

Besides, for those saying that Spike is definitely dead: According to Wikipedia, the show's director, Watanabe Shinichirou, stated: “I’ve never officially said that he died. At this point, I can tell you that I’m not sure if he’s alive or dead.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spike_Spiegel) The original source sadly no longer seems to exist.

So nothing's definite, and I guess it's up to us fans to decide for ourselves. Personally I'm quite fond of the idea that he survived and perhaps got in a relationship with Faye. I honestly always thought they were a great match, and I did feel some romantic vibes throughout the series, especially in the end.

EDIT: Added something and here's a copy I found of the original source: http://mrsspooky.net/bebop/TheDailyTexan.pdf. There's also something to support the relationship between Spike and Faye:

Daily Texan: Are you talking about Spike's relationship with Faye?
Watanabe: Of course. Sometimes I'm asked the question, 'What does Spike think of Faye?' I think that actually he
likes her quite a bit. But he's not a very straightforward person so he makes sure he doesn't show it.

Also, that cute story of the neko by Spike ^_^

It's shame I just found Cowboy Bebop recently and didn't watch earlier.. I really enjoyed watching it from start to the end! <3

At the moment I was writing this, I've watched Cowboy Bebop movie too. But more talkie about main story.

I actually got feeling that Spike is really going to die.. when he told that "cat story" thing to Jet.
Man, I hated Vicious :/ so annoing and use swords (Yeah, I don't like swords somehow...)

Last episodes was so drama, I was waiting to that moment...
Spike died and credits coming... damn I cried much :'(

5/5, I never forget Cowboy Bebop... :')

I agree with everyone saying that the ending was good. Yes, it sure was. Still, I can't lie that I wanted a more of a positive ending. Spike was such an amazing character, killing him off like that was sad to see. Also they could have shown us a small peak about what happened to the other characters. In any case the battle scene was awesome and it wrapped up the story. All in all, the show itself was a great watch.

Great now I want to know what Julia said to Spike as she died.
UPDATE: Oh so she said that it was a dream.

So the trios relationship was like this I think Vicius and Julia (who are a couple) are working for the syndicate then they meet spike and Julia and Spike enter a romantic relationship or its the other way around Julia and Spike are in a relationship and then Vicius gets involved with Julia, I think the first one is a little bit more beliaveble but I am not sure.

Spike's star died :'( I want to to cry :(

The music was perfect in all of the episodes now I got to find the artist(s).

PS: I am writing this as I watch the episode

I wish they had giving a after-last episode part you know where they show how everyone is doing after spikes death.

I don't know how people think that Spike is still alive I mean his star fell but I hope he in fact did not die and there would be a new season xD but one can only hope

This.. was a fitting ending.
People- He died, yes. It's sad. Your beloved character dies.. You know what I dislike? Anime's where the main character runs into a battle of 500 people.. gets cut to pieces.. and walks out alive and everything is all good.
This story had more realism. It was depressing that through the anime we all think "Who's Julia" then she appears for like a few minutes.. and dies.

The creator of Cowboy Bebop said there MAYBE a future for the series.. but that was in 2006. Honestly, it ended perfectly. I couldn't ask for a better ending.. It showed Spike had a reason to live on instead of just dying back then. Jet was in it for the money.. Spike had just happened to be a friend, Faye was a tag-along same with Ed and Ein. Ed and Ein left saying Bye. Faye "left" to go see her past self.. and it's like... You know once the team disbands.. the main character usually dies.

Again- I can't stand anime's without a death.. it makes it stupidly unrealistic. Especially in anime's where there's a lot of combat. I actually saw the vulnerablility of Spike, he wasn't invincible.. he was just lucky, and he was a good shot. But he was still able to die. Which in the end he does.

At least.. he went out with a bang.

I watched Cowboy Bebop in 2000, 2008, and 2012 and I still love it. Classy as all hell, visually beautiful, and when coupled with the music makes for an amazing ride. Cowboy Bebop made me love the Saxophone, and also makes me want to get a Welsh Corgi.

Cowboy Bebop will always be my favorite anime.

I feel like this ending was rushed. Well, I guess it has to do with the fact that Vicious was one of the most boring and empty antagonists I've ever seen. We learned more about Gren than we did Vicious. Outside of the last 2 episodes, I felt the 2nd season was relatively bland compared to the first season.

Edit: I found myself thinking, "Where the hell are these last few episodes going and why have I found them all to resemble filler?"

Edit 2: I also feel like the show focused too much on Spike in the last 2 episodes, and not the crew of the Bebop.

Look, Spike was one of the best anime characters of all time. Personally he was my favorite. Im not ashamed to admit that i shed a manly tear when i saw spike hit the ground and then watch his star fade away. But this was the perfect end to a perfect show. It could not have ended any other way and still get a sense of closure. Imagine, just for a minute, that Spike killed Viscous and got away unharmed. What is he going to do next? Go back to the bebop? Become a drifter? He has already lost Julia, the love of his life and the entire reason he kept on living. So how do you end the show? Even if you were saddened by Spike's death you have to admit that it was not only the best way for it to end but also the only way.
Plus, you never know but he might have just been dreaming :)

This is without a doubt my favorite anime ever. I do believe he died but there's part of me open that he could have possibly lived, but that chance is very little. I love to read speculation about Spike's current status: dead or alive. The theory about episode 5 where Spike falls out of the cathedral window. It is unlikely that he could have survived that fall from that window. While falling to the ground the flashbacks he had and the rest of the series could just be a dream Spike has before dying. Also, when Julia says, "It's all just a dream" in session 26 before she dies it could be interpreted that he is just dreaming the whole time and this is the end. I am very open to a continuation but I'd feel like it'd ruin it. :c

Watanabe stated "I've never officially said that he died. At this point, I can tell you that I'm not sure if he's alive or dead." I choose to believe that Spike is still alive, since either possibility ain't right or wrong. He survived 2 nearly fatal (He should have died) battle against vicious and a bullet in the chest shot by Vincent Volaju. Moreover, Watanabe would like to do continuity but fear the fans reation.

I feel I should have read a review before watching this series because I started realizing what this anime is about a bit late. I felt that something was missing I don't know what, but there wasn't something that made me want to watch more like other series did, maybe that's not the genre I like. I enjoyed the way they put the stories of each character through the series, though. I think I watched it the wrong way, I should watch it again, but I'm not sure about it.

Snorefest Fillers? LOL. Idk what anime you watch, but I can't tell if you're trolling or just dumb. Even though they're fillers pretty much, most of the episodes showed us background info, past of some of the Bebop and it was actually entertaining to see. Most of anime today can't even do this.

I've got mixed feelings as to the series as a whole. The whole ~15 of unrelated side stories (and the few that actually developed the characters) with the underlying main plot with Vicious didn't really blend together well. Plus the fact that Spike really didn't appeal to me. Even after finishing the series, I don't really understand his character nor his consistency. (near invincible in gun fights yet gets his ass handed to him by a random archaeologist/cartographer)

I think Bebop is a prime example of a relic from an older era. It's quite evident that most people who enjoyed Bebop are used to a slower moving plots and constant side tracking, not to say it's a bad thing. That, or they watched it as a kid and are just feeling nostalgic about it. Overall, not my cup of tea, but definitely not a bad series.
