ive just noticed that a lot of people will ask for help without really trying to look for anything. when i can search for something on google and find what someone is looking for on the first page, then they're not trying hard enough...

(god help me should i ever have trouble finding something after this)

It's not much use having a recommendations sub-forum if people googled everything.

Some people don't know what they're looking for, so sometimes Google doesn't help.

If a want a certain series I'll check the recommended subtitles at MAL and then search for the HP of the subbing group. Or directly at google.
However, a agree it's pathetic to not look for them yourselves. Why should I google for someone who's to stupid to do so?
I probably regret this post by now.

Since this is on the manga board, you mean the existence of scanlations for certain series? No, they don't google or even better, check MU. If there's a translation out there, chances are very high that MU lists it. Yet, I've seen literally hundreds of topics "WHERE TO READ ONLINE ZOMG" and usually will take 30 seconds to burst their little bubbles. The people of MAL cannot fathom the existence of manga that is A) not in English B) not scanned and readily available online. I had to block non-friend PMs because of way too many messages like "WHERE IS THIS *SOB*."

Well I try and use Google to look what ever I want up just not manga. I feel strong in my Google-fu and being able to almost all the time find what I want or find out if I can get my hands on something.

For scanlations though, yeah I use MU makes things easier. Though there are times when the scans have become super old or when groups don't have a website or irc channel and don't list a place to get the stuff and it's like Uh what? That is pretty rare though.

I usually always google the questions I have that can be answered that way. If that doesn't work then I search here. I usually don't like to post threads.

I don't google, I use the search function here. And so far, haven't needed to ask for help with anything :)

I've actually had that question asked validly before because I'm in the habit of reading stuff with translation scripts. Which you can't find through google because they're not posted publicly.

I google everything. (: EVERYTHING. D':
But Google gives you stuff based on keywords... so, sometimes it just doesn't give me what I want. D':

I Google everything, that or lurk. I don't get people asking crap on forums, by the time you get a valid response, you could have long since found it by just googling it.

I always search first, because I hate it when people ask questions which answers are easily found through Googling. :/

There's actually a bit of a paradox here. You won't find it if it has not been discussed (asked before) meaning it has to be asked by someone and responded to by someone.

I Google it first and if I'm not satisfied with what I find or what I didn't find I'd ask on forums. Simple, really.

I usually search all the manga-reading sites I frequent, then google, and only if I'm still having trouble do I start haunting forums looking for help. For example, Genbu Kaiden -- apparently has had something like 100 chapters released since I was last able to find an update that... you know... I could read. But forums haven't helped me much there either, and the few that I think could deter people from asking...presumably to prevent laziness like asking without doing any work yourself first.

Of course. I write a description of the manga I am looking for and try to see if the question has already been answered on some other site. Sometimes I am successful, other times I am not.
