| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Another great episode of Frontier even though the animation dipped (looks like some of it was outsourced to the a company in Manila/Philippines) it still provided character and plot development as well as setting up things for next week. The bond between Sheryl and Alto gets increased this week.. god those two are so tsundere to each other at times.. but it was great to see how earring scene went from Alto to Sheryl... he really looked contented in those scenes. Also with Kathy along for the ride we will get more interaction between her and Ozma. The entire Diamond Crevesse thing was done very nicely though I'm hoping they redraw a few of the scenes for the dvd release. Was surprised to see Jeffrey Wilder grab Monica's ass.. even more surprised to see that she actually liked it lol. The Ozma scene at the start was classic, like someone said it was like he was giving her away for marriage. Next episode looks awesome.. I'm guessing Sheryl will realize Ranka is in the seat she gave to Alto.. also should hear her sing that song which was being played before the OP this episode when she was practicing her dance moves. And the action should be awesome.. König Monster fuck yes! |

| Best episode so far imo. Great character development as expected and very nice pace as well (I prefer this kind of episodes over action-packed ones personnally). The next ep seems to be quite important for the scenario too, seeing the preview. And Westlo, you're probably right about the decrease in the quality of animation, there was no action scene in this episode, therefore they could outsource the animation to Philippines as we see a lot of names from this country credited at the end. |

| i just hope alto stops talking to that annoying sheryl and realizes Ranka is win. im really excited for next weeks episode, should be plenty of action to make up for this week. |

| likewise thoughts; great episode, great music by the way too. whilst this episode was more on character (relation) growth it was good and it creates a great tension about the next episode for which i cant wait to see... |

| Can this show get any better!? The emotion, the atmosphere, I haven't felt this way about an anime since the original Macross. Blown away; but something has me feeling someone's gonna bag it next episode. This early on, surely it can't be someone major? |

| The singing mixed with some of the scenes in this episode was just superb. I love this show. Next week really does feel like somebody's gonna get killed, Ozma already had his close encounter in episode 3. God, I hope it's not him. |

But then again, he just wanted to slip out of the trouble to explain to everyone why he was together with THE Sheryl again. Episodes are getting better and better. I didn't not like anything. The ass grabbing joke was pretty funny. Scenes before the ending were great. The ship launching scene nearly had the coolness of a Gundam SEED one. The view over the city was awesome. |

| Very good battle building episode. Best episode so far. Alto putting the earring in his plane. It seems his leaning more to Sheryl than Ranka at the moment. He hasn't even shown an indication of seeing Ranka sexually. And lol at the ass grappling scene. Sexual harassment indeed but hey if the "victim" likes it no reason to make a big deal. |

| Thought: Nanase referred to Mikhail by his first name and to Alto by his surname -> she likes Mikhail? Alto made a huge mistake, giving Ranka his ticket after lying about Sheryl >_< Baka! I suspect that Ozma is doomed, just like Focker... When you promise not to die, you probably will. By the way, Vajira are biomecha, right? I'm now thinking about the relevance of Macross Zero... Is the president going to use music against Vajira? The episode implied it, I guess. Also that Leon's conversation with Kathie...probably foreshadowed her arrival at the SMS ship. I wonder where did Alto find that earring. Also why did Sheryl dislike Galaxy, what happened there? It looked pretty dark. "Diamond Crevesse" was a very fitting song after seeing Alto off...Sheryl's eyes looked like she was on the brink of crying :3 What did Sheryl apologize for, by the way? Alto contacted her about his arrival but she forgot and that resulted in a little "fight" with the guards? Seems like it. |

| One thing I've always liked about Macross was the presence of singers in the middle of a war effort. They always seemed like bards from an RPG, providing a morale boost, if not actual direct contributions as in Macross 7. It's one thing to win battles with weapons of war, but it's another to keep both your military personnel and civilians in high spirits. That being said, the last part of the episode was great for how well it used scene transitions. It kept moving between Sheryl's performance to the Macross Frontier and its airships moving forward, fading between Sheryl and spaceships in a choreographed manner. The performance also seamlessly transitioned into the ED, which ends with that last view of Sheryl, showing that the ED was actually part of Sheryl's last performance on the Frontier at the moment. Oh, and yes, the art and animation were great as well. |
| At first it seemed like it had great promise but at this point, I am starting to feel a little bit bored with this show. The interpersonal drama feels really awkward and forced. Alto keeps running into those two girls everywhere he goes even though there's what, millions of people on board? What are the chances? Also the animation quality is very inconsistent and the CG mech battles are so ridiculous with the camera angles that the action is hard to follow. Not only that, but the lyrics to these mediocre pop songs they keep spamming at us are total nonsense. I don't know how much more of this I can take. |
