Meh, I thought it was okay. It was worth going to see my friends crying at the end of it. Gotta say, it was pretty sad though.

I haven't see it yet but I'm going to. I've heard very good things about it and there aren't that many films where critics love the sequels as much as they did the original. Not surprised at all at the Totoro doll. Pixar and Studio Ghibli have good relations with each other and John Lasseter's office is filled with Studio Ghibli merchandise a long with the other Pixar stuff.

I'm mostly going to see it for the nostalgia, I'm still amazed at how long it's been since the first film was released and how far Pixar has come since then.

I wonder if Pixar will ever branch into a story for older audiences, like Ghibli did with Princess Mononoke. They could do something really good I think.

I don't know, I can't really see them doing that. I think Pixar wants to stick with stories that can appeal to both audiences instead of just one. While I'm sure that whatever story they do they'll do it well, considering that haven't really made a bad film since they where founded. Ever since the Acadamy Awards added the Animation category, they've won majority of them and all of their films since it was added have been nominated.

I just don't see them trying to branch out, I think they may do more films like the Incredibles which lean into more adult issues (marriage problems, jobs, the whole issue Super heroes going into hiding because they where being sued to death, etc.) and may have more action and violence like the Incredibles but they will probably stick to trying to appeal to all audiences without going PG-13.

Was 10x better than Toy Story 2 cuz they added more action/animation but will never surpass Toy Story 1 (mainly cuz the buzz vs cowboy was the real deal in Toy Story, now that they're friends, the story is just average/mediocre)

I was going insane when I saw the Totoro cameo xD But none of my friends understood because they don't watch anime haha.

But man, this was some good shit. Way deeper and a bit more dark than Toy Story should be. I felt like they were trying to appeal to adults.

Yeah, but the crowd in my theater was 75% children under age 10. Believe me, Pixar movies are intended towards a younger audience.

That's your theater though. With every Pixar movie I've seen in theaters the audience was a good mix of children, adults, teens, and young adults. Only exception to this was The Incredibles which had an audience that was a little older. Pixar's movies tend to appeal to a much wider audience then just children. All of their movies have tried in someway to appeal towards adults as well or at least have something that adults can appreciate and they can do without being dark.

I haven't seen Toy Story 3 to say if I agree on if it was dark or deeper but this was probably due the fact that a lot of the audience for this film is going to be teens and adults because those are the ones who grew up with the first two films.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. I have not yet seen a Pixar movie that I hated. Sure some aren't as good as others, but they're not bad. And everything I have heard about this movie is positive and apparently the ending is sad.?

Pixar is not only intended for a younger audience, it's intended for everybody. And the whole darker than, sure. Kids saw it, but the ones that cried and felt it more than anybody else were the adults and older teens that saw the movie as a kid.

Anyway
I LOVED IT SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH. The first Toy Story was the first movie I saw in theatres, and now 15 years later, boom baby! Like everything they make, amazing as always <3

I cried like a sad little child at the end (and a little in the beggining and the middle too XD) I was wiping my face andtrying not to cry cause I didn't want my 23 year-old brother to make fun of me... until I saw how he was wiping his cheeks at the end also haha.

I thought Up was pretty wide-ranged, age-wise. I mean, kids could find the innocence of characters like Russell and Kevin hysterical, but when you look at the whole thing, it's really quite a mature movie that older audiences would understand.

As for the actual thread question, I absolutely adored the movie. I was kind of crying at the end, but maybe it's just that sense of nostalgia you get. After all, Toy Story (and Pixar really, haha) was my childhood, and seeing that third movie after so many years was really great.

I loved the Totoro that came out. Every time it did, I kind of jumped up and down and was freaking out to my boyfriend who took me out to see the movie on my birthday, lmao. Oh the wonders of being a seventeen year old surrounded by seven year olds. xD

Totoro cameo aside, Toy Story 3 was better then I thought it would be, and that's saying something. It really played on the nostalgia factor of the series. Instead of feeling like a straight-up sequel like Toy Story 2 (the first one was fresh on everyone's minds when that one came out, so Pixar went ahead with a general sequel movie format), they added some elements that bring to mind the first movie (i.e.
). This movie brought me back to my childhood and reminded me why the first one was so great. I even got teary-eyed a few times. It was a great film and the best of the three. I can't wait to marathon the whole trilogy when the third movie comes out on DVD.

Haven't seen it yet, but I am really looking foward to it. Toy Story 2 was even more funny than the first, and this movie seems to be shaping up quite nicely. I feel Pixar will do a good job at it. They are the only reason I still watch Disney things.

I saw Totoro in the advert at the cinema and actually stood up and screamed "IT'S TOTORO!!" knocking a whole lot of doritos on the floor in the process. I got a little bit too excited. :')

There are more original and heartfelt moments in this animated movie than nearly every major movie Hollywood has churned out this year.

Loved the Spanish Buzz and Ken moments.
I teared up in the end.
