Just wondering - I myself am a high-functioning autistic with Asberger's syndrome. Just wondering if there're any other members that are on the autism spectrum here. It'd be nice to talk to them. :3

Well, I'm not autistic, or anything in particular (at least, not that I am aware of)

and just maybe I am bumping this topic up. Just maybe.

One time an autistic man (who was a stranger to me) confessed how he was in love with me and said that no matter what ...one day we would be together, that is if he ever left his girlfriend. He used to leave me scary messages saying how he misses me (Lol, he never even knew me), and how I need to call him. He even used to stalk me online. Maybe he's reading this now. He scares me oh so very much. And ever since then, I've been weary of autistic men.

IDK just reminded me of that.

My 5-year-old nephew is autistic, and it is really difficult to communicate with him. However, he has been learning how to talk lately and it's wonderful :D.

Edit: Oh, and he LOVES anime. He especially loves action flicks. But the problem with that is he imitates almost everything that is portrayed on screen. That's a HUGE problem. I have several bruises. T - T

though it makes me more concerned about my cousin's little baby.

he doesn't speak and he is completely in his own world.. and he lines up his little blocks in a perfect line. Perhaps he might end up having mild autism?

I'm not, however my twelve year old brother has autism and I've had a hand in raising him and I'm aware of the circumstances surrounding autism. A close cousin of mine also has aspergers. So if you ever want to chat I'm down.

I went to school with an Autistic guy, who also happened to live in my neighbourhood, I discovered after high school. He had serious communication issues, but was an absolute mathematical genius. And I mean true genius, not just bright. Was amazing to talk to about numbers, if you could get him to listen to you.

He found math errors in MS Excel (like 97 or some old version, talking a decade ago) where some function was off by .0000004% or something, which while seemingly insignificant was actually costing companies quite a lot if they ran their books on it. Was awarded a prize for mathematical achievements the year after, working with the CSIRO.

I have a high respect for people with autism. They are the butt of a lot of jokes, but I think that's because of ignorance. People with autism always seem to be geniuses, whether it's at math or art or whatever. You just have to work around their social hangups.

My teacher used to work at an extreme-autistic home, meaning they were autistic to the point that their parents couldn't take care of them, so he had a lot of stories.

WARNING long, pointless story that my teacher told me. :D
He said one of the kids was obsessed with mashpotatos, so everytime they got KFC, they'd tell the kid that they didn't get any mashpotatos--'cause if they gave him mashpotatos he'd eat only the mashpotatos/all of the mashpotatos, which is bad for various reasons. They had gotten a new supervisor who didn't know how things went around the home and kept trying to change things, so even though my teacher told him the drill and how things went, when he saw the kid eating his KFC without mashpotatos, he said "You didnt' get your mashpotatos?". Then the kid politely said, "Mashpotatos, pleease~", and the supervisor gave him mashpotatos. He gulfed them down and, again, politely said, "More mashpotatos, pleease~". So the supervisor said no, and the kid repeated himself just as politely. The supervisor said no again, so then the kid flipped the metal table over and started screaming, "MORE MASHPOTATOS, PLEASE!", so the supervisor ended up shocked and giving him more mashpotatos, while my teacher stood there staring at him in a "I told you so" look. :D n' the kid sat back down in his chair without a table and started eating them all happy as if nothing happend. He had a lot of other stories too and was gonna bring one of his autistic kids in to our class, but was afraid the ignorant people in our class would be immature. =/

Seriously though, I agree with everyone else, they are smart and definitely don't deserve to be joked about. Im not autistic, but I'd luv to talk to you. :D

Have not been around him enough, but as I recall he does not respond when people call out to him, though he responds sometimes to open arms (he walks towards it). Which is why I was thinking possibly it was more mild than extreme. Or it could be something else... or nothing at all :]

I have OCD. Sometimes when it gets bad it's extremely irritating. I keep having too look around and make sure everything is correctly placed. Also I tend to wash my hands a lot. A LOT. Like after doing anything anywhere that isn't my home. Although if a guest that is disgusting comes over and starts touching things then I have too wash my hands and wash the thing they touched afterwards. Like this plumber, my toilet wasn't working and he started molesting my toilet with his hands and then he started touching my bath. I couldn't have a bath for like a month but I was cleaning it everyday.

It's not the same thing as Autism obviously. I just thought I'd share my mental disorder.

EDIT: When I wasn't having a bath for that month, I was washing my hair in the sink.

I had a psychologist say I have aspergers but I dont in reality since I was just answering questions in neutral answers to get into easy classes at school in SPED LOL xD but now my mom thinks I have it because of that and it sucks, I took an online test and it said my empathy was higher than the male average and female average so I am the opposite of autistic I guess lol

I have Asperger's Syndrome.

It was originally diagnosed as ADHD and I spent a good part of my elementary school years high on Ritalin (the shit basically turned me into a zombie--I was asocial, unresponsive, and my appetite vanished...I hated it). DX Only recently did we find that it's actually Asperger's...

You still are a zombie my friend :D

But as for my autism story, I've been friends with a minor autistic since I was 5. He used to be a pretty serious case (tantrums at the smallest things and such) but now he's gotten a lot better. If you didn't know he was autistic you would just think of him as a dork or something.

The sad thing is he goes to a pretty elite public school and all the jerks there pick on him. They hide his backpack, throw paper at him as he walks through the halls, etc. I just can't understand why people can't mature a bit and let him be. He's fine being on his own but they just can't leave him alone :<

basically the more on the left you are the less likely you have Asperger's.

But also note.. I've seen a psychologist about my parent's divorce.. and the only thing they said is that I am gifted and that I need to be tested and certified on all that nice stuff so they can throw me in some crazy child genius shit. hahahahah. My dad was like "meh" and that was ignored.

also I wasn't paying too much attention at that quiz and I just sort of put random answers. The only thing similar to me and someone with Asperger's is that I am smart, I am eccentric, I hate reading out loud, I can't read clocks and I mix up numbers and such, I am _sort of_ detached from emotional connections with others (though when I really like someone, like a boyfriend I am not like retrained at all. I am also very physical in relationships.).. Though I hate being touched by random people. Loud sounds often surprise and irritate me. I am super sensitive to light and I practically cannot see outside when it's moderately sunny. However, I am actually fairly social, and around friends I am probably the loudest, the lead of the conversation and etc. I am also a very happy person. If I did have Asperger's then that really wouldn't change anything. Also, I've never had any sort of panic attack.. as well, according to a cross examination test it asked me to take I love being under stress and that I am almost too laid back and that I need to be more neurotic.

Meh, I don't know what this means. I'm odd, okay :D

even though I am apparently the most similar to someone with Asperger's I actually do go out of my house a lot. I have a job and I do kendo.. and I go to school. I enjoy all of these things in different ways, and I do like to talk to people.

Hmm I don't know, I have doubts on the veracity of this test's results, at least for me.

I'm obviously neurotypical according to the graph, but I don't agree on the peaks. I think that social, communication and perception are all way higher than what they should be (and I really don't know what to make of "hunting", so I'll leave that out o.o) Neurotypical perception and communication above average? Yeah... right... >_>
