Currently reading:

SEO For Dummies, because learning search engine op is essential for my current freelance gig, orz.

Courtney Milan's The Duchess War, book one of her Brothers Sinister series. I ♥ Milan and have had this book on my Kindle Fire since last year, so I thought I'd read it sooner than later. So good, man, if historical English romance is your thing.

Just finished Brandon Sanderson's Steelheart, the first book in the Reckoners series. The first English young-adult novel I read. It was good, although I think it was a bit cliched. Can't wait for the 2nd book Firefight.

Completed Plato's 'Symposium.' Quite a few interesting things there. And it's nice to know how the idea of platonic love developed.

4th chapter of 'The Denial of Death.' Many of the technical stuff goes past my head, but I think I understand the gist of what the author's saying.

Read the preface and the first few pages of 'The User Illusion.' Wow. I'm hyped.

Will read 'Night on the Galactic Railroad,' so I can understand Mawaru Penguindrum better. ^^

I'm reading some Japan centric books at the minute, I don't really get much time to spend on them though so I'm making slow progress but, 'In the Miso Soup' by Ryu Murakami which is a very slow burning horror and is very entertaining but very trashy, and 'No Longer Human' by Osamu Dazai which I've nearly finished and is interesting enough. I'm also on like the fifth or forth book of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy series but It stopped being interesting after the boring love interest subplot was introduced.

I'm around halfway through 'World's Worst Crimes' by Charlotte Greig - just your run of the mill murder case compilation type true crime bookl, nothing spectacular but incredibly interesting all the same though albeit it is a bit US-centric to be called 'World's Worst Crimes' anyhow

Stephen Kings "Doctor Sleep" . If its half good as "The Shining" i will be pleased.
Your story was bad. It was terrible, in fact. It was like that lame twilight bullshit. I have no patience for that crap. It’s not writing, it’s like bound toilet paper.

Currently reading: The Making of Star Trek, by Stephen E. Whitfield. It really is a terrific book for both Trekkies and TV fans in general who want to see how a series is put together from the beginning. Explores all the behind the scenes mechanics from pitching a show to creating a pilot and how hard it was to create Star Trek on what little budget the producers had to work with.

It really does reaffirm my faith in Desilu Productions, though. They stuck through with the Star Trek series despite all the issues in production and how terribly expensive and risky it would end up being. Bravo, y'all.

Currently reading The Red Knight by Miles Cameron.
An interesting read so far, written from many different characters point of views. Plot is intriguing enough though a little slow moving at times but I am beginning to see it all come together >.< Lots of action, a little magic, very descriptive. I'll definitely be picking up the second book.

Just finished Trainspotting. I did watch the film first so nothing came as a shock but it's still an entertaining yet eye-opening and depressing look into the lives of people who are addicted to drugs. The one thing that would put a lot of people off though is the fact that it is mostly written in Scottish colloquial dialect which is a pretty ballsy move by the author considering it's his first ever work.

"All the King's Men"
by Robert Warren Penn.

I picked it out at random one night and so far it's been rather unremarkable. I'm not a hundred pages in yet, but it seems to be about politics, which I admit to knowing nothing of and have little interest in learning about. It's a dragging read so far, but I'll try to enjoy it as much as I can.

I started yesterday "The Luminaries" by Eleanor Catton, which is set around 1860 in New Zealand and while I'm only in the first 40 pages of 830, I was pleasantly (and unpleasantly) surprised by the language itself. Since it's 1860, the way of speaking is more refined and victorian, which I adore but at the time it tires me since it's not my mother language and there are some rare words in there that I have not seen before ~.~ But I didn't expect that even the narration would be in the same exact way. I thought it'd be more modern, but I cannot say that I am disappointed. It does set the mood for the whole "trip".

Other than that, it's supposed to be a mystery about some murders and I kind of understood from some drawings and lists before the first chapters, that stars and zodiacs would play some role in it... Well, I hope the best for it.

When I come across works like that I usually read them through without notes once, then go and use the notes as I see fit.

Fahrenheit 451 is one of my least favourite dystopian "classics". Very forgettable.

I bought that for my brother for Christmas. Just based off of the awards it won, reviews, and whatnot. Haven't read it myself yet, but I plan to.

Working my way through House of Leaves for the...fourth(?) time maybe. It's a fantastic book for anyone who is looking for horror and a lot of surrealism. Just be warned that the book is DENSE metafiction so that means you've got lots and lots of stuff to read.
