R.I.P. Mr. Kawashima. Like nextday said I know it must have taken some real dedication to finish the manga while he was battling liver cancer. It is sad that he died before he could start a new series but I hope he was content with what he had accomplished. I'll check out his manga next time I'm in the book store and I too hope he's in a better place.

wish some mangakas had the same commitment like he did!!!!

Even if they are sick they are still willing to go the extra mile for his/her fans :)

glad he finished Alive, and I can't wait for it to be finished translated.

For all we know the fact he died might give the idea of an anime adaptation a second wind. Humans are rather morbid like that.

so sad... too bad they didn't animate it while he was still alive, it kept being pushed. At least it was probably very fulfilling for him to have finished the manga. I put it on my PTR list, it sounds really interesting.

It's always sad when a Manga Artist passes away, since we won't see their art styles anymore. Especially if it was unique. I never read Alive but it still saddens me when a Manga Artist dies, at a young age too. At least he was able to finish what he started. RIP!

Rest in peace, Kawashima-sensei.

More of the reason to never animate the Alive manga.

That's shocking. I couldn't believe he passed away. I followed his blog not long ago and he didn't mention about his cancer. Or did he? Glad he finished writing Alive though. Hopefully Alive can be animated soon.

RIP Kawashima Tadashi.
