OMG those ending scenes.
Less words but it has a great impact.
It healed my depression. Love it!

People who complain about the CGI go make your own dance anime.
Wandance has exponential frames than OPM.

People still complaining about the cgi bro let it go the story and characters are great. The animation is what it is. Anyway, IS THAT A FUCKING NEYO REFERENCE IN MY SEASONAL ANIME?? And MJ?? Nah this mangaka has TASTE and I wanna meet them and be friends asap lol. I thought we were gonna go into the dance competition this week, but I guess Kabo’s training arc is still ongoing. Lot of good setup here AND THAT HANDHOLDING ENDING??

Iori vs Kabo’s dance off was really cool. Not gonna pretend to understand the intricacies of evaluating dance performances, but from my untrained eye, Iori looks way more confident and composed compared to Kubo who has raw talent that needs to be refined. Even with that, Iori recognized why On is so high on Kabo. He’s like a raw sports prospect who just needs a regiment and good coaching to reach his full potential.

In addition to the W Ne-Yo reference, I love how On encouraged Kabo to keep going and assured him that he’ll find his own style eventually. It’s totally fine to start out emulating people you like before coming into your own as a performer!

Wanda being into MJ, hello?? Why do all the kids have great taste in this lol. And is that raw and unfiltered handholding in my anime?? Wanda and Kabo are sooo cute and I like how she just reverts to a normal girl who’s susceptible to being bashful when she’s not dancing. Very cute end to the episode and some nice character development for Kabo.

You know Kabo is losing the battle in the second song when he dance with all his might but there's no music visualization effect coming out of him.

The dance battle was so good , like it was so much better than previous dance animations and the peak story is progressing as well.

Just wait for the battle between on and lori then immediately after their battle we will have a kabo vs on , the battle between kabo and on actually had some of the best drawn manga panels, and I'm more than satisfied with this level of animation and cgi.

I have said this before but I'm gonna say it again love how all the girls in this show are mature and cool like the interaction between the characters are really wholesome.

Iori really sees Kabo for who he is.. He's a nice dude ❤️❤️

Without imagining Wanda in his mind, Kabo can't dance confidently. By the time when he's able to dance without worrying about others, he's definitely gonna stop stuttering while speaking.

And what's with that cute hand holding.. adorbs 😘😘

Wanda, you cutie pie! She's not even denying when the store manager was calling Kabo as her boyfriend.

Seeing Kabo and Wanda's relationship continue to grow is my favorite part of this anime that keeps me watching despite the animation. It sucks the animation is lackluster because the manga is incredible with gorgeous art, story, and great character dynamics.

hopefully Iori and Kabo in the future can have a better more equally sided one-off battle (with bad CGI) next time... although it seems like he's already caught Iori's attention. Kabo going to On's class with all her girlfriends was funny hahaha. On is kind of amazing with her level of wisdom and purpose. She's the leader for a reason after all.

also loved the ending of the episode, I love Kabo and Wanda together they're so cute

I feel bad for laughing at Kabo's moves but given it was meant to look stilted (low-hanging jabs at the CGI notwithstanding), props to them for conveying that well.

Love how neither of them flinched (or at least not that much in Kabo's case) to both of the manager's boyfriend remarks. And while Wanda's always been adorable, her accepting the "invitation" for a post-rain handholding stroll is easily her crowning moment.

I was gonna say, is it just me or did they progressively get better, perhaps all intentional by staff, with skill progression after joining the club, I might just be trippin’, or just getting use to it by now. I was a first ep clowning on it, not hate, just cringed and laughed, but thought the story made up for it.

Based first hand holding scene. Haven’t seen that misinterpreted set up before, with the checking for rain.

Finally seeing some breaking was awesome, that was the stuff I tried to learn in college. But man these songs are ROUGH and that CGI is even rougher.

Wanda letting her intrusive thoughts win at the end was really cute, though

The ending was unexpected, but much welcomed. I’ve already resigned that the cg is abysmal. For a dance anime like this, I’m more focused on everything else besides the dancing itself.

So, this is just a good show. The dancing aspect is fine. Alone it wouldn't make this anything more than kind of average. The stutter element adds a fun dimension, because I root for Kabo more in that regard that even his dancing.

Then we've got a few dynamics within the dance club. And the budding romance. When I realized she thought his hand was being held up to hold her hand, I thought "no she didn't lol". Naive but cute, innocent. But then they kept holding hands even after she realized. And my guy... not withdrawing his hand in surprise or anything like that. Good on him

While I'm by no means a dance expert I could tell that Kabo's last dance against Iori wasn't that good and sure enough he was not syncing up with the beat of the music. Regarding Kabo approaching On for advice, I liked the feedback that she gave him when he asked her for advice on dancing, that it's ok to rely on others when starting out but over time he should be able to dance independently.

On a side note, I got a chuckle when Wanda mistakenly thought Kabo was asking to hold her hand when he was checking if it was raining only for her to realize a minute later what his intention really was after she put her hand out after feeling a rain drop, and they proceeded to hold hands afterwards anyways 👍.

cute overload and second-hand anxiety in the same twenty minutes. the kabo vs iori battle sold me on their contrast: iori moves like he owns the floor while kabo starts fine then panics once the crowd shows up and just… floors the gas. lots of effort, not enough breath. it felt intentional too: you can “do big” the whole time and still miss the music.

on’s little talk about finding your own style hit nicely, and her “i want to direct” reveal fits her perfectly like she already sees pictures in her head and corrals people like a mini showrunner. the random ne-yo/MJ nods were hilarious and kind of perfect for a dance-nerd show.

and then that ending. the “boyfriend?” moment they both let slide, the umbrella, the hand-size bit, and the quiet handholding that sticks even after the misunderstanding clears… simple, sweet, zero theatrics. they feel like an actual teen pair fumbling toward something, not a trope machine.

yeah, the cg is still uneven (short hair models look way better), but this episode made it easier to ignore. the character work carries, the dance beats are getting sharper, and wanda and kabo are dangerously easy to root for.

This anime has been surprisingly good. The storytelling, the characters especially, are really good. A lot better than most anime, at least thus far.

They actually communicate, have good introspection, many of the scenes are handled in more natural and mature ways. (even "small" things like the guy in the store calling Kabo her boyfriend) The characters are actually realistic and natural. Kabo and Wanda have great chemistry, and many of their scenes are really well done, a bit clever, and feel natural. (I hope the writing doesn't just bait and start dragging on their relationship, whatever it is, I haven't read the manga obviously)

The dance battle cgi was alright. Even kinda nice in some moments.

Too bad it's getting crapped on because of the cgi and ignored by many. Cgi aside, it's been great.

Hopefully it continues to be good, and better, for the rest of the season. What I want, is to see the characters continue to make progress. On all fronts.

In most animes, progress tends to die down and relationships and story is dragged out forever. Just to keep the cheap hooks in, losing the actual substance. Anyway, won't start on rants.

Oh, I love what they did there. In the beginning there was a whole explanation about people expressing things with their body when they are overflowing with feeling, and in the end it was mostly a silent interaction with them holding hands, accidentally at first but then they kept holding them. Cute.

Wandance secured Anna Yamada's seyuu for the silver girl MC role, so director decided to make BokuYaba out of this episode... The Dangers in My Hip-Hop! I'm fairly sure it's intentionally exploiting the connection.

I mean the hand holding was very cute and she also didn't deny that he was her boyfriend (neither did he, but I would assume that was because of his stutter mostly) and she wore a big smile. So she knew what she was doing 😄

Also does the CGI actually look better now or am I just getting used to it?

As a dancer specifically with Bboying/breakin style, I thought that this anime really tried to bring the dance styles from the manga to life. In Episode 5, we see Iori showcase his house dancing style which incorporates some bboying techniques like the windmill. The CGI is goofy as hell, but it did make his house dancing feel and look realistic. Some of the songs during the Kabo versus Iori-senpai battle though -- wasn't really feeling the music hahah. But if it was trying to match the manga's song choices, then that's understandable. The bboy dance style WILL show up again as the story goes along, but I'll leave the specifics for when future episodes adapt stuff that happens in the manga. And I'll be back to maybe comment on things that won't make much sense to non-dancer people. Just wish there were more episodes for Kabo to awaken to his battle style, since that's primarily what has had me hyped on the manga and NOW this anime adaptation. I feel like anime watchers who have a background in street dance and/or taking up dance classes can relate to this anime alot, despite how goofy the CGI can look at times lol. As long YOU personally enjoy this anime, it's kinda like, who gives a shit what everybody else thinks lol .. let them watch other stuff, it's not the end of the world みたいな感じがする・・・そういうことだと思います

While Iori initiates a dance battle with Kabo, On describing the "feelings" of a dance routine to both Aoi and Wanda so that they can get more or less the same inspiration, it's really all about the music. From that, based on Kabo's choosing of the music and genre, it shows his repertoire thus far, and the same goes with Iori's house music as well, as the odd guy out that really lets his dance do the talking. The thing is, Kabo's moves are just too unsynchronized to please even the students watching their battle, though the match itself is clearly edging towards Iori's end.

As Wanda and Aoi's relationship gets better, Iori contends Kabo's dancing as quite the mess after the first round, so that's what the latter has to work on. Him going to On's class sure has the attention of her friends, and even more on her aspirations to become a music director thanks to inspiration from artists like Ne-Yo with her future plans, though him telling her that he's completely dependent on Wanda for his dancing now, it'll take time before he eventually breaks away from her. But, if there's one thing the two are close in now, it's their dance aspirations and inspirations, with Wanda having Michael Jackson as her reference, though the manager at her part-time workplace sure sees them as a couple, coupled with the hand holding as well.

Kabo's got a lot to improve going forward...
