Anime that you found excruciatingly painful or incredibly easy to watch.

Were there any anime that you found it painfully hard to finish, without irony? Or on the contrary, that you watched so quickly and easily that even kinda were upset that it ended? Was it just a matter of mood, or did you really not expect the anime to be that good or that bad? For example, today I just wasn't in the mood to watch Aiba, so by my count I spent about 7 hours on two episodes, constantly getting distracted.

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 was literally tortured to watch. I liked Season 1, but I hated the direction it was heading in.

Dandadan was hard to finish. I found it extremely cheesy and corny, plus I had already read the manga, so I wasn’t very excited for the adaptation.

And, the ones that’s easy to watch? pretty much all my favs (rated 8 or above))

Hard to watch -
Blue bitch anime -I tried for 8 episodes. I just couldn't for my mental sanity. The blue bitch is so toxic and lowest of low is painful and she gets rewarded with a simple male lead. Worst anime I ever watched.

Easiest to watch -
Emmince in shadow- Unapologetic fun always best experience
Makeine- Gave biggest post anime blue

I've gotten picky, so I'll dump something painful in a New York Second any more. Unless it a continuing season of a title I really liked at first. Two that were excruciating to get through recently were BSD season 5 and Shangrila Frontier season 2. Good lord they both ended up being abominable.

Hardest to watch is probably Mob Psycho for me, horrendous show. But if we are talking about animes that I actually consider to be good it would probably be Hunter x Hunter. HxH has some of the greatest peaks ever, but boy, does it have a lot of boring and straight up bad episodes. There were entire arcs where only 1 or 2 eps were genuinely enjoyable to watch for me.
Now, for easiest, you could probably pick 90% of the shows I have 8 or higher, but the first that comes to mind is Haikyuu. I literally love everything about Haikyuu: the characters, the story, the pacing, the comedy, etc. It is also a really fast paced and addictive show to watch.

Excruciatingly painful - End of Evangelion. The psychological themes were good, but I hated the story and ending, I found the TV series better.

Incredibly easy - Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song.
It's a perfect story told in a short time span and there's logically no reason to milk it any further, but I still felt upset that it ended so quickly.

For me it's Pluto. On paper, this should have been a great anime, but in reality it turned out to be a great disappointment. I watched it for a very long time.

Easiest:
Gintama° (S4), enough to watch the entire 51 episodes in one sitting / one day with short breaks. My best record in anime.

Aikatsu Akari Gen (ep100-178), I was struggling to not watch much and savor it slowly, as I can only have one first time experience, and this one felt really special (it was).
Ichigo gen took me like 5.5 months to watch on-and-off, while Akari gen was 5 days, even with me being busy and strictly limiting myself to 10ep a day (obv broke it time to time).

Mostly dumb Isekai Trash is the easiest to watch. Worse than fast food in anime terms, tho ofc I'll still eat 'em.
Comedy anime are super easy too. Grand Blue, KanoKano, Onimai

Worst:
Easy - NGE (Watching Shinji makes me physically repulsed), FLCL, Mirai Nikki, Komi-san

Any interesting thriller anime (ie summertime render), where there are stakes and a cohesive plot are super easy to binge and breeze through.

At first I thought that Saki, a series about a boardgame I don't understand at all, was going be hard to watch, but actually it was super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Painful-gundam seed after freedom comes, the attempt to tackle themes wasn't great from the beginning but the character and plot decisions ruined any interesting idea

Most painful:
- Citrus
- Stars Align
- Hyakko
- Inuyashiki
- Madoka Magica
- Girls Last Tour
- Birdy the Mighty: decode
- Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta

Most bingeable:
- AnoHana
- Dr. Stone
- Fullmetal Alchemist
- Haikyuu!!
- Attack On Titan
- Tokyo Revengers
- The Promised Neverland (s1)
- Oshi no Ko

Funnilly enough, i have binged some painful anime faster than actual binge worthy ones xD i guess out of a sense of curiousity of "how bad can this actually get???" (or maybe i'm just a masochist deep down)

I also wouldn't call taking your time to watch something necessarily painful, for example i can't stomach more than 1 ep. of Aria at a time, but i wouldn't call it a painful watch, on the contrary, in small doses it's enjoyable and relaxing

Probs the series i was most surprised to binge was AnoHana, i do quite enjoy drama anime, but it's not something i would've expected to be that hooked on compare to action or psychological anime

Hardest: Suisei no Gargantia. As I said before it just kept changing when I was starting to get into what it was doing. The ingredients of stuff I like are here, but every time I take a bite I get a bone instead. barely managed to finish it.

Easiest:

  • Pop Team Epic : (pacing wise) Great Head empty show that's just my speed, even when the jokes don't land. Silly anime go Brrrrrr
  • Cute High Earth Defense club Love!: (favoritism wise) Right balance of silly and earnest Magical boy stuff, I wuv it. I'm having a wonderful time rewatching it, remembering why I loved it so much.

Watamote made me flinch more than once. Although I liked it, it was so hard for me to watch it. Poor girl just can't catch a break.

Lately I've been binging Dr. Stone. Sometimes it's boring, but despite that I just can't stop myself from watching it.

Dragonball Super became an absolute slog to watch at a certain point, specifically with that Multiverse Battle Royal thing. I started just scrubbing through the episodes to see if anything interesting would happen. Spoilers: nothing interesting happened.

then Ultra Instinct happened, because why come up with a clever way to beat your opponent when you can just pull another fucking transformation out of your ass. dropped the show then and there. Super Sayans ruined Dragonball.

The first season of Shadowverse. It was so freaking painful I just stopped watching it to begin the second one.

The protagonist was the problem.

Please Teacher. The cringe and secondhand embarrassment makes it a chore to watch. It for sure has good moments, but there's so much cringe, stupid character choices and forced bs mellodrama that it kills whatever magic it had
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

I've watched and finished a lot of bad shows, but for many of them that expected. Sometimes it's not, and then it pains most. Bottom 3 of that type:

Anime is hardly worth watching. There are usually better things to do than watch anime.

That's the hardest anime i've ever got to watch
Not only does it have such a slow pacing but it's nihilistic to the core so i watched it for a month and a half, hoping to end finally end it:D

It was painful for me to watch Madoka. Not because it was dark, I actually didn’t think it was as messed up as people said, but just because I REALLY didn’t like it.

Easiest for me to watch was probably Moomin, it’s just chill. Oh and every anime I liked I guess

I won't name specific animes, I can only say that there are some animes with all-female main characters that I find uncomfortable and painful to watch all at once, but when I watch them when I feel like watching or watch them once in a while to relax, they feel really fun and good. As for easy-to-watch animes, they would be some animes that I can finish within a few days.
