Anime that deserve a remake

The only series that truly deserve to have faithful anime remake is Mahou Sensei Negima and it's sequel UQ Holder, especially after seeing the recent GBF collab using the manga version of the characters and had some of the manga scenes faithfully adapted into the game (Like our goat Jack Rakan for example since he barely have any screentime in all of his anime appearances so far): The only other series I could think of are Yugioh and GTO like some people already mentioned in this thread lol. Waifuology3 said: I guess my main point is that i don't think a remake would make the characters/story any better which is the point of this thread. I honestly don't get why would people even want a YYH remake when, ignoring whether the visual aged well or not since it's more of a personal thing, the old anime are already faithful to the manga. Not only that, the old anime also vastly improved the source material as well such as the final arc for example where it was quite rushed in the manga. An anime remake should only necessary when the original anime derailed from the source material and went with anime-original story such as Tokyo Ghoul and Rosario Vampire (Which is another anime I personally think it also deserve remake as well but very unlikely to happen at this point), or when the anime skipped almost everything and rushed straight to the certain point like Promised Neverland S2 and Toaru Index III for example. |

@ProudElitist Well i have not seen the first two show you mentioned so i cant speak on them. Could you explain why you think YYH did not age well? Because i still think the characters are great and the dark tournament is still one of my favorite battle shounen arks. I will agree that after the dark tournament the following ark did not have a great start but it picks up when the main villain gets introduced. Also I'm not a English dub guy (i can count the dubs i like in one hand) but i do think YYH is actually better in the English dub, i think i really brings out the characters personalities more. I guess my main point is that i don't think a remake would make the characters/story any better which is the point of this thread.
@Waifuology3 I have serious doubts the series is any good in any localized version. Hell, the sole presence of Nozomu Sasaki (Tetsuo in the Akira movie) as the main protagonist (person of whom I have his albums on my Mp3) makes any version outside the japanese irrelevant, so much that the version I watched even had japanese credits in it. Besides, when I watched it I did precisely because it's the first series Megumi Ogata - a Seiyuu I'm love with - ever voiced in the entirety of her life, I wasn't particularly interested in the rest. Character personalities...I don't remember the series particularly focused on character personalities. The Dark Tournament arc is awfully managed and, after that, the series the facto stops because they do the same thing Toei did towards the end of Candy Candy, they waste the viewer's time by nonsensical padding out the time with reeeeeeaaaaaaaaly slow framing of every detail present in each episode to the point of becoming simply boring. Also, as a personal thing, since I was focused on it due to Megumi Ogata, I found obnoxious how they transformed the character she perfectly voiced (it wasn't about her in the slightest, she had no imput whatsoever on the writers) in a irritating gary stu when he was the weaker of the bunch (he need an outside help to become strong, for f***'s sake), so I didn't like it one bit. |

@MahiaErebeaNegi Yeah i completely agree with you. When i watched Tokyo Ghoul and Rosario Vampire i did not know that they differed from the manga, but especially with Tokyo Ghoul it just felt off in season 2 and it just went off the rails which is to bad because the first season felt like it had potential. I think the only way i would ever even consider a remake for YYH is if Togashi himself wanted to add more or change aspects of the ending. Its no secret that he kinda rushed that ending and Shounen Jump was pressuring him to continue, so if he wanted maybe add more to the story then that's probably the only way i would ever be ok with a remake. |

@ProudElitist It's like talking to a brick wall. Helpless people.
@_ohara please tell me what's the difference between a slightly altered thing and the original one, particularly if you, like me, have never watched it in Japanese. I could understand a defense of Kai in case you were one of the few lucky people who watched it in japanese when we were kids, if you haven't watching the japanese version of DBZ is a new experience, like watching the original Dragon Ball that I have no idea why "fans" resent is a new experience. Hell, it's a new experience from the very first episodes, It's the series I've started this morning. There's specific cultural stuff I didn't remember from back in the day. If you haven't watch DBZ in japanese the risk of choosing Kai over the original unaltered version it that you're going to miss stuff you might find to your liking and, if you really have a problem with some fillers, in the case you want to watch some of those but not all, you must trust the selection Toei did for you and you can't choose for yourself. Like a musical greatest hits or the crappy anthologies of my ass Roy Thomas did of the Golden Age Batman and Wonder Woman comics, which were enough for me to avoid similarly-made projects. |

@ProudElitist Go watch DBZ over a much superior version of the same show if you really want to. I give up trying to convince you, you will have to learn the hard way when you experience the ABYSMAL pacing. You will be amongst the other people who speak about the horror stories regarding DBZ and how unwatchable it is. And by the way, I dont watch the dub. And learn to respect manga. I have the entire Dragon Ball manga in my room and have read it all, DBZ is a TERRIBLE slow ass version of the story I love. All im saying is, dont start complaining when you hate it when you LITERALLY had Kai right there. I could explain to you all the detials, but I cant be arsed because I know there's no convincing someone like you |

@_ohara Reviews of Kai on this same site from people who have watched the japanese versions of DBZ say the pacing was already horrible at the very source, the manga, hence Kai would not change that much. I don't care, pacing or not pacing until I have not tried the real thing without any intervention other than mine and I don't fall asleep I will be happy. I'm a simple person. I don't respect the manga because I HATE THEM ALL WITH A PASSION (the japanese can't do comics even when trying hard), and I can't understand why manga readers can't stop bothering people who like animes only with their "ReAd Th3 MaNgAh!111" BS. You're not forced to care of any manga while watching animes, just the anime alone. |

A bit too early don't you think?
Season 1 hasn't even finished yet and i don't think it's high profile enough to receive one.

I feel like Black clover needs a remake, it is relativly recent, but some scenes are straight up trash and i feel like it could be made way better. I'm still only ep 90 so it will most defently change. |

@ProudElitist Hey man if you did not like YYH that's totally ok, but the point of this thread is does a show need a remake and i don't think YYH does because it was a faithful adaptation. I just think your conflating remake vs I did not personally enjoy this show. For example is someone says they didn't like NGE because they did not like the characters or the ending that's fine but that doesn't mean that it needs a remake or that it didn't age well, it just means they didn't like the show. |

To all those who voted for Soul Eater - watch Soul Eater Not! and you'll most propably change your mind about if this classic needs a remake. Tokyo ghoul isn't even so old to get need a remake. YYH and Kaleido star (not in this poll) both get few visuals, but no remake, which they deserve a lot. Also Fractale, Kiddy Grade, Trinity Blood, Slayers maybe, remakes wouldn't hurt. |

@_ohara Thank you. And Thank the erotic fanart of Android 18 on Pixiv for pushing me into rewatching an IP I didn't care for for 25 years, except for the first series for which I had an interest a while ago due to Toru Furuya voicing it. No manga to speak of inbetween. |

Yu yu hakusho, if they made a remake of such a classic in today's times where when it comes to battle shounen the level of writing is ploughing the bottom of the Mariana Trench, then I don't know... probably nothing would happen because people don't care about good writing XD but I still want a remake of Yu yu hakusho |

@Waifuology3 it was faithful? really? I had no idea (I don't read mangas). So it's confirmed that the guy who married Naoko Takeuchi is as bad as her when it comes to the "writing" part. Ugh. I can't imagine how his Dragon Ball clone by the name of HunterXHunter must be. Ogata-Sensei made a perfect match between two shades of suckyness when she made possible for the two to get to know each other and subsequently marry. I will always love her nonetheless. |

I think remakes are derivative and just lazy. I want to see new stories not someone copying someone else's homework ad infinitum. Why can't anything just stand on its own nowadays? Are people just scared of watching something new for a change? Out of principle, I don't think I will ever watch a remake, and I will just watch the original no matter what anyone says. |

I don't think I want anything remade currently. The anime industry has seriously declined in quality, so chances are the remake would be a lot worse. Most of the remakes in recent years are like that. Heck, even the rushed beginning of Brotherhood is worse than that part of the original. It's only better overall since it sticks with the manga and gets an ending. Even if the ending was that the power of friendship defeats the guy the protagonists don't like. |

Why in the world is Yu Yu Hakusho on this poll? The 1992 anime is basically a perfect adaptation as is. Put like Slam Dunk or something, that anime felt dreadfully slow and cuts off right when it's getting good. To answer the question I guess I'd say Soul Eater, though the original is fantastic (and the ending is highly overhated to boot) it'd be nice if it had it's own Brotherhood equivalent. |

Kochikame, the eternal champion of eyebrow density and absurd municipal policing.Remaking Kochikame would be like returning a sacred scroll to its rightful shrine. You all are fixated on rebooting series that aren’t even cold yet. I am calling for justice for a comedy manga juggernaut that ran longer than most civilizations. |

Soul Eater or Tokyo Ghoul Forsure i say just let Berserk stay a Manga the logistics of making that a anime is to much and it will get bastardized in the process. |
