Which anime do you believe deserve a remake like fmab or hunter x hunter 2011?
I would personally pick soul eater as it's a very nostalgic anime for me.

Dragon Ball Z. Its so unwatchable and slow. Before anyone brings up Kai, thats literally the same as Z but with better pacing thanks to it being a re-edit. But the problem isn't just the pacing, the series isnt exactly pretty. If Mappa or Wit studio remade it, (the same way HxH was in 2011 and One Piece soon) then Dragon Ball would blow up again, ushering in a new generation of fans

I'd love to see Ashita no Joe remade. It's unlikely because of its legendary status, nobody wants to potentially ruin its legacy. But it would be amazing to see this story with modern animation, and audio quality that doesn't hurt my ears.

I want to see countless universes and retellings of Death Note, I realized this by watching the live action Japanese drama series of Death Note. There are thousands of possibilities to be explored.

Record of Grancrest War. The original anime adaptation butchered the story by rushing through it and its characters instead of properly developing both aspects, compared to the light novel. It had such great potential to be a classic, if the studio didn't fuck it up.

I would vote for Soul Eater, Although I haven't watched the og one but I heard its direct sequel to Fire Force so after the FF anime ends I will watch it. And it would be great if they announce a Soul Eater remake after FF ends.

Unfortunately getting a faithful GTO remake in this day and age kinda seems impossible, without normie fans calling it pedo and what not in X, and their force is so powerful, we can see its effects currently i.e. Takamine-san anime getting multiple days delayed release in Crunchyroll because people were bitching about it in X.

From the almost 500 animes I have completed, even the ones I wasnt a big fan of, only two come to mind:

- Maybe not the most loved, but I would say the first half of Sword Art Online season 01, since ive always read that they skipped many many chapters

- I would also say the Key Visual Novel adapted by KyoAni in 2005 = Air. It could use a 20-26 episodes remake, instead of the 12 episodes one we got.

Instead of remaking the same old crap ala Hollywood, how about coming up with new, innovative and imaginative???? It's only been a couple decades now.

If you twisted my arm though, out of the ones you named, I'd cast another vote for Soul Eater, even though I have serious doubts anyone could do it justice. I could see it becoming another Trigun Stampede.

yeah, it's a fact. It's quite popular in Japan even with this adaptation, they highly praise it. So, a remake is pretty unlikely. still, it would be great if it happened, but reality is often cruel to its own. haha

None, the only one that truly needed a remake (the 70's Cutie Honey) has been remade twice, each time with a Masterpiece. For the rest, even of the terrible series I wouldn't remake anything.

@_ohara I can't wait for Mappa to go Bankrupt. Whoever destroyed the sexual appeal of my beautiful wife the female ranma from the 1986 series deserves to be boiled alive, the way Toyotomi Hideyoshi did with Ishikawa Goemon. Thrice. BTW, me, I don't care if it's slow or not, I'm soon gonna watch DBZ and I'll judge it when I have watched it.

Berserk is the only thing on this list I think absolutely needs one, as the 2016 version is dogshit.

A personal remake I would like to see is of Yu-Gi-Oh, specifically focusing on the non-Duel Monsters portion of the series. The franchise will be having its 30th anniversary next year and I think that would be an excellent way to show how far we have come by just having a faithful adaptation of everything from the confrontation with Ushio/Trudge all the way up to the Monster World arc with Bakura which is the last arc in the manga before Duelist Kingdom shifts the story to only be about the trading card game. Most of this content was skipped or remixed in the anime everyone has seen, and isn't really one to one faithfully adapted in the Toei series either, so it would be a lot of new content for animation not ever adapted in full before that leads an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of this series, how far it has come, and the memory of the late Kazuki Takahashi himself.
This post is brought to you by your local transfem gamer goblin. Will not tolerate bigotry and will fight against "anti-woke" sentiment to make the anime community a safer place.

@ProudElitist You should watch it in order:

Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball z (291 episodes) or Z Kai (167 episodes)
You should watch ''Bardock The Father of Goku'' at episode 85 of DBZ, or episode 41 of Kai, it is essential that you watch it after these episodes.

Thats all you really need to watch, since those two cover the original manga.

Believe me when I say you really should watch Kai over Z. Its the exact same series, nothing has changed but without the filler, you really would be making your experience miserable by watching DBZ over Kai.

Plus idk if you watch dub or not, but Kai has a manga accurate dub, where as DBZ had a very butchered dub where they changed a lot of lines.

Just go with Kai dude. DBZ is a filler fest. Even scenes you think are canon are filler.

@RainyEvenings Totally agree with this one. The show leaves out a crazy amount of depth and detail which is in the manga. The manga is paced so much better too, and doesn't feel as disjointed or awkward.

@_ohara I couldn't care less of the manga even if I was under threat of physical torture and I have no problems with the fillers (all that it matters is if the filler is entertaining and well written, nothing else), and if I have I can simply skip them by browsing online their list and that's it. Kai was completely pointless IMHO, by the description of it it reminds me of the recently announced Dawn of War 1 remaster. A few changes done in the laziest way possible to ca$h in on a beloved franchise and nothing else. No, I don't watch dub, I watch only in japanese. The dubbed version is the one that I watched when I was a kid, never watched the original japanese with the singer of the Choujin Sentai Jetman intro in the intro of the anime. I wish I did instead of the italian dubbed one.

Nothing 'deserves' a remake despite how bad anime was. Yeah, I see remakes as 'alien' and alternative versions of original what is bad by default, plus modern understanding and adaptation of old works from 80-90s, even early 2000s is crap.

I'll be honest, the one genre of anime in modern times that I struggle with when it comes to finding really good shows is the romance genre. Most of them are really bad. s such, I'd love a really good romance story like Kare Kano to get a nice two season remake that's properly funded. Even with a competent-at-best adaptation, it would be the best romance anime in years.

@_ohara because I don't read the sacred manga of my ArSe? I don't care, I hate mangas. I would incinerate them all if only I could. Besides, there are people on this site who have read the manga and find it far inferior to the original anime, so your opinion is yours, not everyone's. I fail to see how the original DBZ is inferior to the rehash if the latter is the exact same thing minus some scenes and added censorship. The same thing slightly altered, according to you, is better than the original thing in japanese unaltered and with the possibility to skip the fillers - if you're so inclined - by simply browsing online and choosing them from the lists of fillers available online, it makes no sense whatsoever. Ca$hgrab for the sake of ca$hgrab, good for extremely lazy people who don't even bother to browse the web and search infos on the episodes of the original series because of lazyness but not much else.

I'm probably one of the few people that has this opinion but i don't like remakes. I think that watching a old show is like opening a time capsule, its a cool time piece from a different era. i have heard so many people say they want a YYH remake i do not understand why its aged so well. I only really believe in making remakes when the anime was botched/was a bad adaptation like Tokyo Ghoul. I also voted for Berserk, however i think they should just erase the 2016 anime and pick up where the 1997 anime left off.

@Waifuology3 it depends on the remake we're speaking of. The tetsuwan atom from 1986 was a remake and it was a good remake of the first series, or at least it was good as a stand alone project. The Space Battleship Yamato 2199 too was a good remake, that series alone not the sequels. YYH has aged well? I beg to differ, not even Megumi Ogata-Sensei (who was the reason why I watched it in the first place) unfortunately couldn't save it when I got to the middle. And I would personally listen to her farting or burping into a microphone for how much I love her voice.

@ProudElitist Well i have not seen the first two show you mentioned so i cant speak on them. Could you explain why you think YYH did not age well? Because i still think the characters are great and the dark tournament is still one of my favorite battle shounen arks. I will agree that after the dark tournament the following ark did not have a great start but it picks up when the main villain gets introduced. Also I'm not a English dub guy (i can count the dubs i like in one hand) but i do think YYH is actually better in the English dub, i think i really brings out the characters personalities more. I guess my main point is that i don't think a remake would make the characters/story any better which is the point of this thread.
