By this, I basically mean anime that re-adapt the manga like Tokyo Mew Mew New for example

Yeah, i do enjoy remakes as long as they're good and faithful to the source material like FMAB and HxH 2011.

Absolutely I love hearing when one's coming up. Even if some end up being flops (Cough cough, the Versailles no Bara movie is a god damn abomination of an adaptation- cough cough), some are honestly better than the originals in some ways. The Urusei Yatsura remake is pretty streamlined, but it strips out every bad aspect of the '80s adaptation (No ultra low-budget mid studio transition episodes, no sea of recap episodes, and is more faithful to the manga than the original in several episodes), making it a much easier choice to recommend for most people. I mentioned it in the prior thread, but I'm very excited for the Jigoku Sensei Nube remake, since the original anime is very much incomplete, and would massively benefit from having the rest of it adapted. Especially since it has a manga that came out from 2014 to 2021, and ain't no way is a '90s adaptation going to have content from the future.

HxH 2011 was great and people seem to like the new Ranma 1/2. They usually bring in a lot of new fans to a franchise, so it's great to have more people discovering series that they love.

No , i have only watched 1 anime remake that released ~40 years after the original. No reason to rewatch the same story with politically correct visuals and writing for the modern audience.

My favorite anime is a remake of a version that came out in 1969/72, but most of animes i prefer to see the original (Sailor Moon) or read the manga (Ranma 1/2), and there are remakes that I want to see like Astro Boy (1980 and 2003) and Cyborg 009 (2001 and '79 but this version don't have subs in my languange).

I think anime re-boot are oftentimes very good. I especially liked the 2015 make of Sailor Moon. Of course, they are quickly running out of new anime shows to make, which is why they are re-making shows.

Thankfully this was fixed by the remake

I've really enjoyed the few remakes/reboots I've seen. Hunter x Hunter (2011) and Fullmetal Alchemist: Broterhood are simply amazing adaptations of their respective mangas (and actually follow the story all the way through) and the Evangelion rebuilds were pretty good and took very different direction from the og show, and one day I'll probably watch the Legend of the Galactic Heroes modern remakes as that looks interesting.

Yeah I know a few animes that have adaptations from different times. I enjoy them as most of the time there's enough differences in the shows to make it fun to see what those differences are. Personally I like FMAB as it's a more direct adaptation of the manga

Being meaning to check both Shaman King animes for example but I wanna read the manga first. Then there were a few other older animes that have gotten reboots in the last year or two and I wanna check the old anime and the new one. Some day

I enjoyed Fmab and the Eva Rebuild movies, but I didn't like the kino no Tabi remake at all.

I like remakes that try to cut down on overly long series, like DBZ Kai. While i love DBZ and all it's filler and padding, it's also nice to have something more digestable.

My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

No. Unless the remake is derived from an original that was flawed to begin with. It makes sense to me to return to a barely exploited mine, but not to one fully surveyed. Classic anime are the latter case. They suddenly ended because they had nothing left to present. The end came as they made the best of their formula to begin with.

I say, less remakes, more works inspired by the remade titles. Also, more never made before adaptations.

I do, absolutely love Ranma and Dragon Quest Dai's Great Adventure reboots for example, especially the former, I love Berserk the Golden Age Arc trilogy and the Memorial Edition TV series more than the original 1997 anime, to name a few. Reboots normally tend to be just as great or better and more manga accurate than original works (but can be flops too, obviously) so I absolutely love and I'm always eager for them.

Not a fan of them but...

The Kanon 2006 remake is by far one of the best out there and idk why it isn't more well regarded. Heck, many don't even know it wasn't the first attempt at adapting Kanon into anime. I mean have you seen the Toei adaptation? It looks like ass. KyoAni knocked it out the park when they made the 2006 one, a more respectful adaptation that VN hoped to ever receive, not to mention VN adaptations are known to be bottom of the barrel and lazy, just take a look at the Tsukihime, or Rewrite ones.

@JoeChip Thank you for correcting me. But you should also add what it is, if not a remake or reboot, than what. So that others don't make my mistake.

@SofiaBulga young black jack is a spin off prequel, showing the life of black Jack in medical school where student protests, war, and corruption shaped the backdrop of Hazama’s journey.

@RainyEvenings You replying in JoeChip's stead? Isn't he big enough to reply on his own? Also it doesn't actually matter what "Young Black Jack" is. In the end it's just a show that might get someone to watch the original.
I liked it for what it was, even if it wasn't enough to get me to watch the original.

Now that I think about it, I usually keep an eye on them when I hear about a remake coming out, but I'm not sure I've actually seen any remakes/reboots (unless you count the Evangelion Rebuild movies, which I hated). I think I generally dislike remakes if I watched and liked the original, but I'd probably like them if I started with the remake first. I guess I just don't like change.

I loved Brotherhood and Hellsing Ultimate.

I liked the first, second and fourth Rebuild movies, Bastard!!, and I've been enjoying the Kenshin remake. I don't exactly like the Berserk movies but I think they're fine.

Overall I'm not against the idea of shows getting remakes, I just wished they didn't exist solely for finished or airing shows, and instead were unifinished or very poorly done shows the ones getting remade instead, and then of course I wished they turned out to be good.

Not really no.
The only exception is the Spice & Wolf remake, which I liked even more than the first adaptation.
