I just don’t see the benefit of wasting time on putting together a recap. The special episodes always get a massive amount of dislikes on Crunchyroll and add no extra content. Am I the only one who would rather them just not drop an episode then to put in a recap??

It's whatever. Surely, someone would benefit from a recap episode from time to time.

I can wait, and it's not the end of the world.

Just don't watch and assume that no episode dropped today.

I'm sure there are many fanatics like me who will watch anything related to One Piece, so I'd say it's not a complete waste.

I think it’s probably because they have basically put out an episode every single week since the show started. So it’s better for fans to have something rather than nothing.

Omg guys chill. It was golden week up until the 6th and Mother’s Day yesterday. So rather than busting their butts last week when it was a week long national holiday for an episode which would air when a lot of families would have plans, they decided to air a recap in that time slot that fans aren’t going to be devastated to miss… it’s all about thinking about the bigger picture.

the state of this anime in general is very weird because it is basically an anomaly in the industry, it is not watchable by new fans because of too many episodes, and it is also not watchable by old fans because of the very bad pacing and the constant recaps and breaks, it should have gone seasonal since long ago, this model does not work anymore, especially since it was kicked out of its sunday morning time slot in the channel

They took a break of 6 months, claiming they would use the time to improve the anime and let the manga progress. But after the long wait, they only released 4-5 episodes, followed by a special episode that feels unnecessary. It’s frustrating to see such little payoff after such a lengthy hiatus. What was the point of the special episode?

It's understandable that not everyone enjoys the same number of episodes in a series; however, many viewers do appreciate longer seasons. When some anime take 3-4 years to produce, it can be challenging for fans who want to see more content. Typically, most seasons consist of just 12 episodes, which can limit character development and backstory. While there are exceptions, it's important to recognize that shorter seasons may not always allow for the depth that viewers desire..
